There's this girl that I rarely talk to, but she keeps making eye contact with me and acts shy and awkward around me, my gut feeling says she's into me, but I'm not sure. I want to take her to a local arcade and ice skating, but I don't know how to ask and I am shy around her myself 😅 Edit: Went for it, didn't work out. I've been in love with someone for nine years. Right when I had the courage to talk to her, right when I blossomed, grew confidence, and became more of a social navigator, she got a boyfriend. That stupid, tricky little boyfriend. She's so sweet and sarcastic, and perfect wife material. But that's the problem. I can't tell what is "nice" and what is "I like you" anymore. I've been let down so many times. She's the only option I've never gone for (for obvious reasons). She's the girl who never left, but the one who got away. It is spirit-crushing. Energy-consuming. Bordering on obsession. Especially since we're friends. She hits me, she giggles at my jokes. But friends hit friends. Friends giggle at each other's jokes. You never can tell -- and that, the inability to tell, drives you nuts. It's like finding a red hot Ferrari with a perfect finish and pristine engine, and the salesman hands the keys to another customer. "Sorry, Mr. Indie Blue, sir. That's not your vehicle to drive." So you try other cars. You test their engines. Some work for a while, but break down. Others just die immediately. But that Ferrari is always in sight and mind. Gleaming at you like the sun. And you'd press and press until he gave it up. How he was positive you must've made the correlation between his sadness and your kisses with Mr. Boy-Toy, but how you never seemed to follow up. Like you'd received the information, considered it, and pocketed it because it just wasn't that important to you. How-- Then I would stop telling her the story of those songs, because we had arrived to the present. She'd say, "I never knew you were so obsessed with me." And I would laugh and say, " 'Obsessed?' " “Totally obsessed." And I'd look up at the ceiling, chuckle, and say, "Maybe a little." "But you don't even know me," you'd say. And I'd respond, "I know enough." "What's that?"
