The only one I don't think I have a problem with was having to get up in class. I learned how to retreat into my own brain and just daydream/fixate on things that actually interested me. I was always able to pass almost every class by doing homework in the morning on the way to school(10 minute drive) or before the class started (5 minute window between classes) or even during other teachers classes. Math I always struggled with because each class built off the previous class, and if you fell behind you had to go all the way back to previous chapters to relearn, and it was the most painful thing. I got mostly Cs and Bs and the occasional A.

I definitely relate to the daydreaming and last minute homework… You’re so spot on with the falling behind. That was exactly my case too in maths, i started falling behind everyone else in my very first years of learning maths and so I was never able to fully catch up with my peers… 🤷🏼‍♀️

I've had a hunch for quite a while that something's up, but this really cements that I might also have adhd... all of those hit the mark just bullseye. I've always been super distracted and forgetful unless I'm 100% involved with what's going on, so I raise my hand a lot and ask questions in class when it's interesting.

Candice!!! Since high school, (now I’m in college) I’ve always been falling asleep in classes) (even when I sleep so much) and try so hard to be awake. But no, I always wondered is there something wrong with me, that I just can’t keep my eyes open. I can’t stand being in class that lasts 45mins I start feeling physically uncomfortable, wanting to scream, if I can’t go on my phone, that helps me make it through the false. There is classes I love I’m so overactive. I’ve suspected I may have adhd and autism, for a very long time, but haven’t gotten checked, I think the inconsistency of not been taken seriously why I did mention it to my parent, I’ve minimised my issues and it’s really affecting my life, specially my school life. Thanks for sharing.

Hey ! sounds interesting but the music made me phase out after 15seconds... Might also be good to shorten the videos, 10min is a loooooog time. But thanks for doing the channel ! Good luck

My doctor keeps trying to delay getting me checked for ADHD saying they don't think I have it because I did okay in school, then I see videos like this and think "that's me! Omg that's entirely me!"

I can relate to all of the symptoms :( I will give some references here. Can you confirm if I really have it or not? And if I should tell my parents. Because in my country ADHD is not taken seriously... 1. Pending Homework 0:36 I am always slow among my classmates. I always submit my assignments in the last. Teachers always say that if I score well then why I can't manage to do my assignments on time. But I always think I am lazy. The worst thing is that the end of my tenth standard has come and I only did 2 chapters (out of 27) in my English notebook this entire year. 2. Forgetting Things 1:31 Most of the time I forget my books at home and I ran so many times from the bus stop to my home just to bring my spectacles and bus pass. I had to go to the school to submit my practicals and guess what? I forgot my AI practicals and ran again to my home. I called my mother so many times to bring the important things to school which I used to forget a lot. 3. Feeling Behind 2:08 I see other classmates even the students who were poorer at studies than me, who used to complete their work on time. In the end, I was getting compared to those classmates feeling humiliated. But now it's my habit to hear the same thing again and again. 4. Avoiding boring tasks 3:05 It's literally my worst habit. I know I have exams from tomorrow but I just want to do other activities instead of focusing on the important thing. Then after exams, I regret and yes then I don't know if I even learn a lesson from it because I end up doing the same thing continuously and ruin my marks in all subjects. Recently I ruined my science board exams and I cried a lot yesterday. I started preparing for the next exam in the morning today but then again I am back to my daily routine :( I even tried to learn guitar in Jan 22 then gave up, then again started learning it in Oct 22 then I again gave up and recently I started learning it in Jan 23 because of new year's resolutions but ended up losing it again. 5. Procrastinate 4:44 Well, no doubt about how much I procrastinate. After reading all these you might get the idea of my procrastination habit so I won't discuss it. 6. Falling asleep in class 6:37 I remember the first time (in my 9th grade) I was caught dozing in my history class. My teacher told me to drink some water to get rid of it and the whole class turned to me like I committed a crime. After I came to 10th standard it was normal for even my friends to doze in social science classes and now the teachers ignore it. The funny thing is that I feel sleepy while giving lengthy exams like English and social science. 7. Being active in interesting subjects 7:30 This is so true. I am opposite to you because I loved maths even if I scored badly mostly 😅I never and ever took a nap in my maths class and I can never do that. I want to answer every question asked by my teacher even if I give wrong. I always want to solve the sum for the teacher before others. 8. Note Making 8:57 I made colorful notes of 2-3 chapters and ended up losing it. I bought a new register for it and bunches of highlighters and sticky notes but failed to complete all chapters. So I started preparing from KZbin lectures only. Now I hate writing :( and this is not good. 9. Struggle in seating in class 9:55 I think it's the same for most students even without ADHD. But I really hate seating in the same place for an even shorter time and I have had this habit since the day I was born. My primary teacher used to complain to my mom that she fidgets a lot and can't sit at her place. She roams around the class all the day. Well I think I improved this habit (maybe) 🙃 10. Lack of clarity 10:28 As I am coming in higher classes this symptom is increasing day by day. I have one more bad habit that the teachers really hate about me. I talk a LOT!!! And most of my talks are useless. Sometimes when the teacher teaches something related to a topic I learned, I start explaining it to my friends even if she did not asked me to do so. The class teacher scolds me for this bad habit of mine. So tell me if this is also a symptom or not. THANKS A LOT FOR THE VIDEO... But I still need clarity if I actually have it or not and even if I tell it my parents will not pay attention to it. They don't know anything about ADHD and if I tell them they will tell me to stop making such excuses just because I don't want to work or I am lazy I TYPED A LOT AND I DIED 😵‍💫

I always got up to go to the bathroom when I was in a boring class... and had issues doing my math homework, I just sat staring at the notebook, not knowing where to start. Always forgot stuff in my classroom, and had to go back school to pick it up. Kids knew that, and they used to hide my things and laughed at me when I couldn't find them. I was so stressful, that now I also deal with general anxiety and social anxiety...

I am crying.... How do you get diagnosed ? Is it possible to get negatively tested on the psych test ?Thank you for being so honest , open and REAL
@youradhdgirl
@youradhdgirl 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Madhumita! I’m sorry this made you cry; hopefully tears of relief from life finally making sense? For now, what you can do is test yourself online to clarify your suspicions that you have ADHD (⚠️online tests are not a substitute for a professional diagnosis⚠️) I suggest you visit www.additudemag.com to learn more about ADHD and take a test that will closely ressemble what you’ll be asked during a professional ADHD assessment. I won’t get into the details of a psychological ADHD diagnosis but basically, the doctor/therapist/psychiatrist will do an in-depth assessment of your past and present, will go through the symptoms checklist with you looking for proof that the symptoms show up and impair you in several aspects of your life… and this can take several sessions! So be prepared to spend some time getting diagnosed but it is so worth it in the end! I plan on filming a video on the diagnosis process so stay tuned ☺️ Thank you for your comment and wishing you the best of luck ❤️

@@youradhdgirl Honestly thank you, for taking the time to write out such a heartfelt reply. I went on Focusmate, for the first time based off your video and it really helped me get started on this ginormous assignment i couldn't wrap my head around. Being a Psych student i have suspected myself of having ADHD for a looong time..... but haven't been able to get properly tested. So i put it on the backburner , yet dealt with the symptoms.... every single day. i will prioritise getting the right support, i have been to a therapist and i am was quite appalled by the way the testing was carried out, she didn't even sit with me through the session and hadn't even printed the forms. So i gave up on pursuing the matter. I think a video about the correct testing method and your experience will definitely be an eye opener to many. ADHD or not sometimes in life we all suffer from executive impairment and fall in a funk. And this video is beneficial for everyone.

@@madhumitaathaley551 no worries! I’m really happy to be able to connect with my subscribers one on one in the comments ☺️ Focusmate is a life saver!! I always tell myself I don’t need it until it’s the end of the day and I’ve done literally nothing… I need it to get started and follow through more than anything! I’m sorry you had to go through this negative experience with your therapist… not all therapists out there are good, and some will be a better fit than others! I’ll definitely talk about my assessment in detail and what you should expect from it. I hope it will help you and others who are in the process of getting diagnosed 🙏

Would you ever try to start your homework and feel physically sick like you feel the tension the pull, of wanting to do it, but feeling like you can’t, sometimes it could end up in stressing mentally, or crying.

Every single time I had an essay to write literally. I would do nothing and the anxiety would increase as the hours passed until it would become almost unbearable and I STILL wouldn’t sit down to write it 🥲
