I just got a 10 week old bunny today we make sure to get a x pen thing for them hidey places chew hanging up and we let them out twice for half a hour and they were purring and streched me and my bf were so happy because we watched so many things on being able to understand there body language ❤

2 things that this video does not mention but I will: 1. Baby bunnies have different diet needs than young bunnies (3 months to a year) and young buns have different diet needs than adult bunnies (1+ years). The person in this video is speaking generally ( hopefully) about adult buns. Bear in mind that KZbin bunny channel people are just bunny owners and NOT vets and this video is akin to watching say a Jesse Dollemore (podcast commentator who comments on other news platforms' talking heads' videos versus the late, great news journalist Edward R. Murrow. In other words, the information in this video is generalized information; 2. Note that not every bunny needs to be paired. This depends on both how much time you have to give your bunny attention as well as the particular personality of your bunny. MaNY male bunnies are territorial and may not get along with other males and some are just fine if you have 8 to 12 hours a day to spend with them. 3. Always ask your vet before taking a KZbinr's info as gospel. They are just bunny owners with a platform. Consider them like anyone who owns bunnies..they are NOT vets!

Yes you’re right baby/ junior rabbits have a slightly different diet! I’ll be sure to mention that in upcoming videos. I always advocate for bunnies being in pairs/ groups where possible. As no matter how much time a human can devote to their bunny, nothing compares to them having a bunny companion. I am certainly no vet and have never claimed to be however I have owned rabbits for 2 decades so I think I might know a thing or 2 about them 🤭

Vets ARE actual doctors and I am a bunny owner as well. I devote 80%of my day to him and I have heard from numerous bunny owners who have said that they at 1 time had 2 bunnies and their buns were territorial with each other and fought and their bunnies are happier being the sole bunny. Mine is happy; I can attest to flops and bi nkies every day. Another thing to take into account is vet bills and groomers. My vet charges 106. for a checkup and my groomer charges 129.00. Not everyone can afford the cost of 2 bunnies and to insist that your view of having 2 bunnies might smack of classicism as well as being narrowminded! I own a bunny myself, but in no way do I presume to say that I can tout medical information about bunnies..only a vet can do that!😁

​@@IMeMineWhoI have never ever met a rabbit savvy vet who did not advocate for rabbits being in bonded pairs or groups. I am fortunate enough to be able to see one of the top rabbit vets in the UK and she and her team recently ran a campaign to advocate for bonding. Whilst it is certainly possible to have a lone rabbit who is happy (I have had a couple myself over the years who simply would not bond to any rabbit), it's the exception rather than the rule. If someone can't afford two rabbits then it brings into question what happens when the one rabbit gets really sick. I have paid over £1,000 in 48hrs when one of my girls was in stasis and needed emergency hospitalisation. More recently one of my boys had an abscess in his ear, the surgery for which was over £1,000. Dentals can be £200-£500. Rabbits are expensive, whether you have one or more. In the UK its part of the legal welfare requirement to keep animals who would naturally be in pairs or groups with others of their own kind. Not that many listen, but it is there in the welfare standards. I can't understand why a groomer would ever be needed for a rabbit. I've had all sorts of breeds including lionheads, angora crosses etc with very fluffy coats. Taking a rabbit to a groomer, for the vast majority of rabbits, would be an unnecessary stress and run the risk of causing GI stasis. And unless they are a specialised rabbit groomer - something I have never heard of - they're likely to do more damage than good. Rabbits don't need to be bathed, they clean themselves. The shock of a bath can kill a rabbit. If a rabbit is soiled or has matted fur it's not a groomer that's needed, it's a vet. A rabbit with soiled fur has an underlying health condition or poor diet because it is not normal for them to not keep themselves clean. If the fur is matted the only safe way to sort it is a vet shaving the fur. A groomer should never do this as a rabbits skin is not like that of a dog. It's extremely thin and elasticated. Even a tiny nick can turn into a very serious wound. Simple every day brushing and nail trims when required at home are all that is needed for healthy rabbits. Any problems more serious than that need veterinary assessment. Whilst veterinary advice is always best, it's important to check the qualifications of the vet as not all vets are knowledgeable about rabbits. Very little focus goes on rabbits during their training as cats and dogs are traditionally seen as the money makers and veterinary schools focus on that. It's definitely better than it used to be, but it's still very important to get a rabbit savvy exotics vet who has had the necessary training in rabbits. Rabbits are after all considered exotic pets in veterinary terms.

I factor in vet care into my budget thank you very much AND I LIVE NEXT DOOR TO A VETERINARIAN! JUST BECAUSE ONE CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR 2 VET BILLS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY ONE! Some good info, but very disappointed you are flogging terrible pellets for a few pennies commission. Those pellets are full of grains and sugars and even kitty litter (bentonite) to add weight. They cause gastric stasis and even toxic enterotoxemia. Bunnies do NOT need commercial pellets. They are to cause weight gain in meat rabbits. Please everyone, read ingredients. Bunnies need only timothy hay and veggies. They can have a tiny bit of fruit or carrot, as they are high sugar. The only pellets they can have are 100% pure timothy pellets from the feed store. NEVER commercial pellets.

Really not a good idea. There are far too many rabbits without homes already. Many healthy, young rabbits are euthanised simply because there aren't enough homes. Others end up abandoned to die when people get fed up with them or neglected in a tiny hutch at the bottom of the garden. It's important to know what you're doing if you're breeding to ensure good genetics. Simply breeding random rabbits is a recipe for disaster. Certain rabbits with genetic problems, known carriers of E. Cuniculi etc should never be bred from. Female rabbits really do need to be spayed. They are highly prone to uterine cancer, with about 80 percent of unspayed females getting it by age 4 (bear in mind well cared for rabbits should get to 10+). It's usually a death sentence as symptoms only show once it has metastasized in the vast majority of cases. Rabbits are capable of breeding very very quickly (at the cost of the mother's health) and things can get out of control very fast. A doe can breed again immediately after giving birth (which is very damaging to her) and when you consider that it's only a couple of months before her first litter can breed themselves you can very quickly have an out of control situation with inbred rabbits. I spoke to someone recently who took in what were meant to be two female rescues. By the end of the year there were over 60 very inbred rabbits with health problems who all had to be rehomed. Every time they had males they separated them but it was too late as they had already bred to their mothers/sisters and the cycle repeated. There is no money in breeding rabbits, they're not worth hundreds or thousands of pounds/dollars like some dogs. About £30 is average. When you consider the cost of vet care and vaccinations (currently about £80 per rabbit where I live for the vaccination against myxo, rhd1 and rhd2) you'd be making a loss anyway

I'm not sure what you're trying to say but carrots are bad for rabbits. They can have a small slice as a treat every now and then but they're too high in sugar to feed too much of. I'm not sure if you're suggesting that you feed peppers, chocolate or candy to bunnies but please don't. This is extremely dangerous and will kill the rabbit. Chilli peppers are not safe (bell peppers are in small quantities but are also high in sugar), but chocolate is *highly* toxic to rabbits (and most other animals) and will kill them. Candy would be much the same. Stick to hay and grass with small amounts of safe vegetables (have a look online for a list of rabbit safe vegetables)
