Your trash story reminded me....when my son was around 2, he was "helping" me to clear the table after lunch. He took some silverware from the table, walked to the trash, and tossed it in, turned around and gave me a big smile. He had seen me throw away the paper napkins and paper towels, so he was doing the same thing. I just happened to be there to see him, otherwise I would have wondered where the forks disappeared too. LOL

Love how Aunty Jill doesn’t mince her words, we need more people speaking this truth about sacrificing our time in the service of our families. Society looks down on stay at home mums focusing on their husbands and kids when this is such an important role….if every woman was focused on this how much of the world’s problems would disappear all the child neglect/abuse, crimes, etc.

I think part of the reason kids are so messy these days is because the world is. My grandmother who adopted me was so clean & I never had to be told to put anything away... I just did it & made my bed. I didn’t have a cell phone or much else to take my mind off cleaning up. My kids were so different!! My daughter is now a super cleaner... but her childhood was such a mess!! I always told her to clean as she goes... & my son was the same. Good points on making it easier for them.

I'm thankful that your tips were instilled in us when we were kids. It meant it was automatic to instill similar practices in our own family with our kids. Our home was never perfect & it was a challenge to keep it tidy with 3 kids under 5, but overall those strategies kept me/us sane! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

I needed to hear this! So many women my age run from here to there, and over volunteer, and their homes are a wreck. I can’t function when my house is out of order. Thank you for validating my feelings that it’s important to keep the house running smoothly. Thank you for validating the importance of not letting dishes and laundry pile up and running through drive through night after night. Such great wisdom

I have two baskets for laundry in my bedroom. One is for the dirty clothes. I have another for the "used" clothes that don't need washing yet like a hoodie I might wear for a few days in a row. That way I have a place for that stuff and it doesn't end up on the floor or draped over furniture.

Each night before I go to bed, I pick up our living room…..every morning upon rising, I make my bed and pickup our bedroom….after meals, I load the dish washer and wipe down the stove and counter tops. These are simple steps and only take a couple minutes to accomplish.

I love these videos! Tawra, I can see Dave and Jack in you. They look so much like you and Jill. Then I see pictures of Mike and think they look just like Mike! I love the organizing videos. I just went through my freezer as I have neglected it for the past month or so. I have enough meals from frozen leftovers and "bits and bobs" to last a week. Organizing is a good thing in many ways. Thank you both! I use your planner to put my recipes in. I menu plan and if I'm using a recipe I will read the cookbook and pg #. Then if it is a printed recipe that will go into the planner. If I make a new recipe, I write it down in the planner notes.

I so relate to the trash sack next to the sewing machine, I can remember having my home ec teacher showing us how to fold the top of a lunch bag down before taping it down. And then telling us that it was a good idea to have one on the ironing board too (IF you didnt fold that up right after ironing.) The one thing I took away from that was it was a good thing to have the sewing machine and ironing board in the laundry room. All of this happened 50 years ago and today my laundry room is a closet. LOL

We had to pick up our room and have our school stuff by the door before bed. Or dad would find it when he flipped the lights in the morning. ( then you were in trouble. Like having dad stand over you while you got ready. ) And you had to beat dad to the table and finish eating before he left for work. All 3 of us had to eat or. Dad wouldn't leave for work. Dad was never late for work because of us.

Pinpointing and implementing the first step is the hardest part for me. I realize I'm overwhelmed and ready to overcome it but when there is so much to do, I feel physically stuck until I find and do that 1st step. After that, it seems to go easier to think of the next steps and implement them without feeling stuck in sitting and ruminating over it. Sometimes have to plan the first few baby steps to get going even if that's "Ok. Breathe. Get up. Cross the room. Pick up thing on floor...etc". Sometimes you just have to meet yourself where you're at.

My beautician (in her 30's) said that people age 80 or over are demanding when it comes to phones. They expect you to pick up that phone when you hear it ring, and if you DON'T, they will call over and over until you pick up. My dad was the same way. It took a long time to break him. 99 percent of the time it is trivial things like asking for an address. He won't learn how to text, either. Anyway, the beautician was in the middle of washing my hair, and had to balance the phone and wash my hair while answering the call from a little old bitty who would just blow up her phone with hundreds of calls. I hope they pass a law against that unless someone is dead, dying or bleeding. BTW, I will be 60 this year. That is ENTITLEMENT!

Maybe some people do the soccer, swimming, etc. So they can have an excuse not to clean. They don't want to do it. My sister was constantly on the road taking her kids to activities, and one day I came to her house and the dirty dishes in the sink had flies and maggots! And a big stack of paper plates on the table.

I disagree with the laundry. We have enough outfits for 2 weeks. I would rather to do laundry half of the day every 2 weeks, because you are having to go back and forth too much to sort, hang, dry and put up. I dedicate a day every 2 weeks. I would not want to wake up every day if I had to do laundry every day, plus, I have to accumulate enough to sort it by colorful, jeans, darks, and whites.
