Great video. My question is, how do you make new conversations or new connections with people while you're walking around the room and so many of them are in little groups that don't seem open to new people coming in? It's hard to break into these groups without feeling like you're intruding on a private conversation.
@first203 жыл бұрын
This is absolutely true. So this makes networking almost impossible. You can not even physically approach people and not speak about interrupting their conversation.
@pummyy2 жыл бұрын
You can stay close to the group abt 2m and let them know ur interest. Often someone will look at you or smile , use that opportunity to introduce urself. You can also use phrases like, I was listening to the conversation, interesting that you mentioned.....
@victoriaogunro45376 ай бұрын
You join the group as a listener. If people pause and react, then say “What you’re saying is very interesting, I hope you don’t mind me barging in.”

Good advice! Being able to engage with people in networking group can massively increase the exposure to your business, while also being able to let you use your skills, talents and connections to help others in the group as well. Also, the magic is in the follow-up and work done after the event, the meeting is just the starting point, not the destination.
@The7DayWeekend5 жыл бұрын
Great point about the magic being in the follow-up work, you are so right!

You’ve earned my follow as a new subscriber.. thank you for your time and energy, I’m going to a massive networking event downtown Tampa at the Hilton Hotel and I’m fairly new at this whole networking thing. I’m not really an introvert so I got most skills you mentioned under control.. but I also gained some more skills through the tips you presented. I want to start my own KZbin channel soon geared towards physical & mental health.. I’m not a formal professional in either subject but I’ve earned enough life experience points to be a professional in my own right. I look forward to more videos like this .. Sincerely, ArayaHope

At the risk of being perceived as being negative, we must realistically consider that in authentic dialogue people do bond over actual concerns of injustice (poverty, domestic violence, workplace bullying, etc. as these and other serious issues can certainly arise depending upon the professionals interacting with), which may sound negative to some, but are absolutely not the same thing.

@CHD hi! thank you for asking :) well I still had some low points when i didn't know what to do or say and I felt anxious. one participant even told me that it's okay, relax.. :D so I can imagine how nervous I looked sometimes. so the conclusion is it takes much more to overcome the anxiety than just one or two occasions so I continue my "journey" :)

Great advice about not sticking with the conversation you're comfortable with at an event - get out of your comfort zone and do what it says on the tin - network. Plus, the giving mindset is absolutely essential to becoming a networking Yoda!

I really enjoyed this video, and think that these steps really apply to life in general! Thanks for posting! Oh, and i did have one thought to add... what about presence? Being present with that person whomever you're talking to, and no matter how short the conversation... from the moment you *take the first step*, to the moment you actively decide to *break away* or *connect them with someone else*. What are your thoughts? Thanks again!
@VideoWithImpact4 жыл бұрын
totally agree with you. presence...to be fully there...it can be difficult at a networking event...because there's so much going on...but yes being in the moment, fully listening and responding in the moment..yes absolutely crucial! thanks for adding that!

What “gift” can you give a random person at a networking event?
@VideoWithImpact Жыл бұрын
thanks for asking. it's about being curious how you could help them in some way..if you come with a mindset of "how can I be useful to them?" rather than "What can I get out of them?" it can lead you to find out more about they're after...and stop you from just asking self serving questions...you'd build trust in the process and you find out how you could help them in some small or big way..it could be connecting them with someone..etc..
