Recently looked through my family tree and found Ludwig Passini was my great great uncle. My family has originals of his paintings in our home. My grandmother always spoke of this one as her favourite.

They are all wonderful but the Passini scene from Venice looks almost like an oil painting. Really extraordinary. Having dabbled with watercolour as a teenager I cannot imagine the precision and talent involved.

I totally agree, it takes a lot of skill to paint like that in watercolor!

It's hard to choose a favorite. There are several ones that I particularly like for different reasons. I like the last one about the ghosts, but also the Realism of Anders Zorn. And Duerer also made a gorgeous work with it.

This has to be the best ever channel on art ! I discovered it while searching fir Frederick Burton's watercolour works - however I cannot find the one that you devoted to his work on any of your playlists ? Never mind ! As I'll have a wonderful time exploring all of your other art videos. Thrilled and thankful !!

I like a visit from death, if you are making me pick one. I love watercolor, I’ve been trying to learn and paint for a little over year. I’ve definitely had ups and downs in this medium. but I’m determined to learn.

Yes, it's a totally different way of painting, and it requires a lot of practice. But it's convenient to take along on a trip.

Oh, my dear Professor..could you please give the dimensions of these works? It can make a huge difference in one's appreciation of the piece, as doubtless you're aware. Your channel is just what I need, thanks...

@@AmuzeArt I was particularly interested in the size of the John Simmons painting of the couple in Midsummer Nights Dream, the detail is just wonderful, I could look at it for hours...

Simmons work measures 36 by 29 in (89 by 74 cm). You can find more information on the auction website where it was sold in 2012: www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2012/19th-century-paintings-n08847/lot.72.html

Thanks for yet another interesting video with amazing, rather unknown pieces. I am curious, could you share the title and artist of the painting shown at around 07:50?
@AmuzeArt

It's entitled Soiree in het Hotel Meranerhof, painted around 1920 by the Dutch artist Nicolaas van der Waay

Not sure about the interpretation on „Plusquamperfectum“ 3:45 In combination with the „Perfectum“ it simply indicates the passage of time, in German we have these Plusquamperfectum and Perfectum as temporal tenses (?). The Plusquamperfectum is everything that happened before the Perfectum (which happened before the Present)
@AmuzeArt
@AmuzeArt Жыл бұрын
Interesting! I used a free translation of the words in the content of the painting. More precise would be that 'plusquamperfectum' means 'more than finished,' which is more fatalistic than 'perfectum,' which means finished. The second work also has an additional inscription reading "Immerdar solche Vertheidiger, u.s.w.” which can be translated as “Always such defenders, etc.”

@@debbieborden7651 No, I get it now. Yes, funny indeed how the season has changed from one to the next one, I had not noticed it before. In this case, death was kicked out eventually by the person in the house.
