The rapid advancement of technology is defined by Kurzweil's Law, the law of accelerating returns, which states that as technology evolves, so does it continue to evolve at an exponential rate - it took thousands of years to get from the wheel to the steam engine, but less than 300 years to get from the steam engine to landing on the Moon. However, Kurzweil's Law also states that just as with biological evolution, technological evolution only continues for as long as it is necessary. The human eye, for example, evolved to its current state thousands, tens of thousands, of generations ago and has not evolved beyond its current state because there is no need for it to. If there were a cataclysm that required us to all go live in deep, dark caves, then that would be the shift that would kick-start evolution again and our eyes would eventually evolve to have greater vision in the dark. The same goes for technology. Droids do not need to be advanced to fancier or more advanced models because droid technology has already reached the level required for everything droids do. TL;DR technology in Star Wars has reached a plateau and has not continued to evolve and change because there is no need for it to.

Number 6 does actually get somewhat of an explanation in Andor. The young rebel philosopher in the second arc (forget his name) says that under the empire, technology has been excessively standardised so they can control what people can do, killing innovation and in many cases actively regressing the state of technology. This is hinted at in The Mandalorian when Din gets the naboo starfighter. It's stated several times that this kind of ship just isn't made anymore, despite being superior in almost every way to modern starfighters (they could go to lightspeed in episode 1 where in episode 2 the jedi starfighters needed a specific lightspeed rig). This shows how individual planets may have had far better tech under their own governance but under the empire had to regress to empire-standard tech.

Unanswered Question Number 11 - How many more times will WhatCulture ask how Maz got Luke's light saber?
@Leggo_Waffle4 ай бұрын
9:53 Maz getting the lightsaber is revealed in a Star Wars Visions episode. The stop motion Ardman episode has a brief cameo in the background where you see a merchant stall selling Luke’s lightsaber and even his hand in a jar. If you watch the full scene, you can see Maz’ hand steal the saber.

One word that best describes Cad Bane is resourceful. He stood up to Jedi on multiple occasions. He has also been one to properly prepare for the job he is handling properly along with studying his opponent. He already knew his opponent is someone he taught that happened to be the son of Jango someone he also owed a favor to and worked alongside with. Cad even though he got beaten by Boba he lost fairly easy. So, either he died due to bad handling of the character from the writers, or he took a fall for some reason. We never saw what happened to the body afterwards either, And I never put too much thought into the broom kid other than he was just used to represent force users coming out of hiding and teased the idea of Rey's new Jedi academy. It could have been any kid for the same reasons.

Regarding tech advancements: it’s not too surprising that the ships don’t change that much over the course of 3 decades. Consider this: the main battle tank used by the US Army is the M1 Abrams. This tank first went into service in 1980… 44 years ago!

They have basically told us that yodas species is numerous. Ki ad mundi is given special dispensation to marry because his species is dwindling. Yoda is given no such dispensation which means he is either the last or that there is a lot of his species. If yoda was the last of his kind then that is a huge plot point to never mention so i lean to there being numerous yodas species running around somewhere.

I can answer the technology question. While yes, in our world technology jumps quickly in 30 years. But, we have also only been around for only around 10,000 years. The civilizations in Star Wars have been around for millenia. So while some technology can progress, such as computers and blaster power, the basic tech level moves slowly because it's already so advanced.

Here's one: Just how common or rare are Force-sensitive people outside the Jedi Order? When Qui-Gon discovered Anakin, he noted to Shmi that if he'd been born within the Republic he'd have been found at birth. And the Council really wanted to ignore Anakin but for Qui-Gon's insistence. But those statements imply that there are Force-sensitives never discovered by the Jedi. The Legends and canonical books mention a few, plus we saw people like Chirrut Imwe who clearly was Force-sensitive, though maybe not as much as a Jedi. So the question remains, how common is Force-sensitivity in the general population of the galaxy?

On why technology didn't advance quickly in the 30 years between episodes 6 and 7 can be explained by the large size of the Star Wars galaxy. The events of the sequel trilogy primarily take place on backwater systems where the latest tech hasn't trickled in and people are too poor to afford them. Depending on where you travel on Earth, some regions look and function the same now as they did 30 years ago. As for star ships looking the same, look at automobiles. They are still, for the most part, a box on wheels. Or an airplane is a long tube with wings. Yeah, they are sleeker and have more tech, but the basic design hasn't changed in 30 years. The same idea would apply to a tie-fighter, x-wing, or star destroyer -- they may be more advanced in the sequels, but the basic design hasn't changed.

Whoa. The Armorer. Flashback to when there seemed to be some hope left for Star Wars. She's a great character, played beautifully by Emily Swallow. She was one of the high points of the, er, problematic 3rd season. How very sad that the Great Hope that was Ahsoka turned out to be a mind numbing dud, one of thee biggest wastes of potential in SW history. The cackling coven of man-hating Gorgons at Lukelessfilm then proceeded to take a huge, steaming dump on what was left of the fan base with The Acolyte. I'm not in any way looking forward to a new season of Mando, and why should I? The Armorer would probably be revealed to be a trans/sith/whatever anyway.

Regarding "Yoda's species," in some books he's been described as either a "frog" or "elf." Obviously not meant to be species names, of course, but merely descriptions. Given that George Lucas has said that he wants that to remain a mystery, I have taken to, affectionately, calling the species a Frogg Elf. Sort of as a placekeeper nod to the fantasy elements of the narrative and acknowledging both prior descriptions.
@SgtsPepper114 ай бұрын
All fun questions to ask, but I do think that part of why Star Wars is so successful and fun is because there's a ton of these kinds of mysteries. Notably the prophecy, if we ever see its origin, then the mysticism around it fades and it opened to scrutiny from the "lore-keeper" fans that are constantly arguing over and dismissing content. Leave some things in the dark, let people speculate and wonder

@@noahdean9685 Whether a season two happens or not (probably not) it still bonkers that the character vanished from the story. If Headland had nothing more for the character, then Tasi could have been killed with all the other Jedi in the fifth episode. If the padawan was going to be used in the next season, then Venestra should have met up with Tasi during the ending of the last episode. At the very least, somebody during the season could have said Tasi was off on a special padawan training expedition. One simple sentence acknowledging the elephant NOT in the room.
