Thank you so much Dr. Phillipe Barr for this video. I really appreciate the advice on the word count being 1000, but I wanted to ask if we include reference citations within our academic statement of purpose if the reference is counted as being part of the word count.

No need to worry about notes. The main text should roughly be around 1000 words. Glad this helped!

Insightful video. Thanks for sharing. I would like to know if it's okay to mention in the SOP the names of current students, Alumni or faculty that you have "networked" with? Or will it just be fine to say you have interacted with any of these persons with mentioning their names? By the way, I like your videos; it's obvious that what you share comes from a place of experience being on the admissions committee.

Thanks so much! Yes, I would definitely mention their names to make it even more concrete. It does not have to be super detailed. A line or two should suffice.
