I really like how your tips in your channel are quite unique and not cookie-cutter -- most of them are personal to you, and somehow I haven't really heard these tips before from other known style influencers who repeat the same thing over and over about looking "expensive" and whatnot

Fellow petite girl (4’8”) here! I love how you pull off oversized jackets. Could you do a video on how you like an oversized jackets to fit on your frame without being overwhelmed by all the fabric?

And what details make for a good oversized jacket: shoulder width, length where it should hit on the body, etc?

Great video as always! Love that cream Sezane dress...onto the list it goes! After years of being plus sized and a couple of years of hard work (that i did for myself and my own happiness!) I can finally shop petities reliably and man it is such a game changer in terms of fit and proportion. Happy to have another petite brand to look at, I've been kind of sticking to Ann Taylor and Banana Republic petities as of late. Even though you are not plus sized, I know that highlighting brands that also offer petite plus would be so beneficial to people that may watch your channel if that's something you were willing to highlight some time!

I loved this video! One thing I avoid is low rise waistlines because they visually shorten my legs. I also consider skin as a colour block - I find knee length skirts shorten my legs because they create a divide at the knee. Meanwhile, I have proportionally big feet, so pointed toe shoes are out of the question (think clown shoe look haha)

I am also petite. For a while, I was laser focused on dressing myself in ways to make myself look taller. I did learn quite a few techniques to build outfits with good proportions and they were helpful . But after a while, it became restrictive for me to wear fun colors, interesting cuts and trying on new things. I realized looking taller is not the most important thing in life for me. My husband loves me being petite and tells me I look cute and sweet for which only petite ladies can pull off effortlessly. Petite people have its own unique challenge, but also beauty. It is way more fun to use clothes to express personality and have fun than to trying to look taller.

> I realized looking taller is not the most important thing in life I agree with this so much! I'm 5'2 and a casual weight lifter, which means I won't look like a "dainty smol petite" no matter what, I'm quite bulky. Yeah, of course I tend to follow (at least intuitively) a lot of advices about proportions and lines etc, but the most important part for me is if the outfit makes me feel like a fashion diva!

I love this! Thank you! ❤ Super agree with the cuff neckline! It is more flattering when cuff is smaller & tighter! I notice also when the neckline is a bit loose, it looks so bad on me! Also, i prefer wearing flowy & lighter pants! Heavier fabrics make me look stiff 😅

I know that sandwich dressing, wearing shoes to match a lighter colored top, is popular and it looks great on tall women. But, like you, as a petite, I look and feel taller when I match my footwear and hosiery to the color of my bottoms, skirt, dress or pants. I wear mostly skirts and dresses, so it’s knee-high or thigh-high boots and matching tights with these in the cooler weather.❤

I also have a very small body type, so its really hard to pull of all of the cool and modern looking things. I noticed that it is easier for me to start with the recommendations and move from there into the direction I aim for, instead of starting at the point where I would like to end up and adjust from there. I think with more experience, it can be done as easily, but since I lack the experience, I stay away from the super bold choices and work my way up there.

A belt can shorten you if it contrasts too much with the rest of your outfit, e.g. if it's too wide or in a very contrasting colour or if it has bright hardware (shiny metal belt, studs, etc.) It adds a horizontal band that can shorten your legs. I am a bit off belts at the moment as I like dressing very simply and at my age (58 years young) a belt can also look a bit too classic and ladylike, i.e. old. I have started to wea heels again and they can actually be more comfortable and healthier for your legs than very flat shoes, I have opted for 2-3 inch block heels or a discreet platform that is not in a bright or contrasting colour to the rest of the shoes/boots, I also prefer suede footwear (and a suede heel/platform) to leather or other materials, it looks more elegant imo

Thanks. You’re probably a (flamboyant) gamine in Kibbe. I do prefer you in more fitted styles or at least one garment fitted and one looser. Gamines need juxtaposition - because their bodies have both soft and strong elements. I’m a flamboyant gamine, same height as you. I’m glad you found Kibbe, but you should also check out Kitchner essences - they are a bit more important and explain some observations and preferences you have in styling. Once you know the rules, you can break them. 😂🎉
@TheAlyconaria Жыл бұрын
I've been thinking maybe soft gamine, because Helen pulls of soft curved shapes and delicate details well. Definitely some classic and romantic elements in her style essence too!
@petitekatilin Жыл бұрын
I’m guessing she has to accommodate petite before anything else. She looks hood in colourblocking and shorter lines, which speaks to gamine as a body type. Essence-wise I could imagine ingenue, natural and classic to be in the mix.
@kim-mr7oh Жыл бұрын
she is definitely more of a SOFT gamine, a yin type. she does benefit from curve accommodation, and her essence reads off much more as spitfire chic than sassy chic. looking at verified celebrities, she’s definitely similar to winona ryder and audrey tatou, and not penelope cruz or audrey hepburn who are FG.

Your knee-high boots are lovely but too wide around the calf, I have the same problem finding more fitted boots. These wide leg boots (probably designed to accommodate larger size women) don't look great on slim, petite ones, but I've found it very difficult to buy tighter fitting knee highs, the only alternative would seem to be those with a stretch panel at the back, but they look less elegant and less chic so not ideal either
