The Aerovette was one of Chevy's early attempts at a mid-engine Covert. The double-jointed gullwing doors on that concept car was probably the inspiration for the Tesla Model X rear door. The Jaguar XJ220 was NOT the great success you claimed. That's because to cut cost, Jaguar didn't give it the Scissor doors, All-Wheel Drive, and V12 engine on the prototype. Instead it came with regular doors, twin-turbo V6, and rear wheel drive. So customers started asking for their deposits back. The Chrysler ME 4-12 was canceled because Mercedes owned Chrysler at the time. So Mercedes didn't want the ME 4-12 to compete with their SLR McLaren Supercar.

Not using a V-12 made a lot of potential buyers go elsewhere. It’s said that a lot of ppl that had spoken for these cars before production decided not to purchase after they heard the news there would be no V-12 but a turbo V-6

In case of Maybach Excelero the story is much different because i know that Fulda a subsidiary manufacturer to Good Year tire brand, commissioned the car for testing the high-performance tires Carat Excelero build specifically for that period to up-hold to speeds up to 218 mph that is about 350km/h.. they previously used a 911-Ghemballa Extreme biturbo.

It has been a pun against American manufacturers for decades that they have massive displacement & only tiny HP, it's quite rare for a European engine manufacturer to get less than the very best out of an engine, just take a look at any Italian carmaker, or even the XJ220 a car that should have had aV12 but ended up with a V6 but still took the title they were after from the very beginning 220mph, not bad for a 1 man company that started off making nothing but sidecars in Blackpool

They promised a v12 with 4wd but delivered a v6 and rwd with brakes that struggled to stop the thing.Stock market crash meant many super cars were no longer a viable investment.Can you imagine,Jaguar,wanting £50,000 deposit on a v12 4wd na super car,then delivering a v6 twin turbo from a metro rally car?.Unless you specified your chosen colour,it was painted in silver,with grey interior trim.saw one once,absoutely huge,never forget it.Amaized the tiny brakes ever brought it to a stand still.

The Cala is way prettier and more exciting than the Gallardo, it also looks contemporary, unlike the Gallardo. Really loved that car in NFS II, too bad VW passed on its production, sometimes it feels like they killed the Lamborghini brand in some sort of way. The Aerovette was stunning as well, could be a huge collectible hit by now

The executives of Mercedes didn't want the ME FourTwelve to be produced since it would be faster than their own Mercedes SLR McLaren at the time therefore cancelling the planned production. When General Motors gave up on the rotary, it was re-mounted with a conventional Chevrolet V8, and renamed the AeroVette. There were LOTS of mistakes in this vid arrrgh

Bugatti Galibier sedan. Had W16 engine as Veyron but at the front. 8 exhausts (4 on either side). It gonna target the same luxury league as Rolls Royce Phantom. ... Only one was made. It has some high tech LET lights that were designed by Audi that looked like eye lenses. LEDs are now being made by almost all car brands and had them back then. Short story, the car was gonna come after Veyron but decisions to make Chiron got the car to be cancelled.

& the Aerovette was a direct Ripoff of the European cars that were taking all of their business, I'm sorry to say that I don't think it would have made much difference, European cars of that era & even now were/are far more sophisticated in their design & build(the current Corvette is the closest they have ever got to a true SuperCar, it's not bad but I won't be changing all the Audi R8 V10 doner parts on my self-build(GT40 shaped) for them) as well as the way they deliver the powered they make, whereas Europe relied on the advancement of technology America relied on Volume, "There is no replacement for displacement" is not something you will hear in Europe.

This guy knows nothing about cars. Audi /VW group bought Lamborghini in 1999. The jalpa came after the miura in the late sixties and just before the Countach. The Aston Martin Bulldog was a concept car never meant for production. It led to the creation of the Aston Martin Lagonda and the Aston Martin Vantage which was featured in the Timothy Dalton bond films. The Jaguar XJ 220 was initially presented with a 6 l V12 with over 600 bhp, touted to be the fastest production car in the world . However labor and cost cutting issues at Jaguar meant it was finally delivered with a 4 l V6 out of the XJS producting a shade over 500 bhp. Even that was delivered to customers after years of delays and even then of the 250 or so jaguar was gojng to make , they barely sold over 100.
