About the uniform: In sweden the M90 camouflage is the best suited for our forrested terain. For the ones operating overseas and in tight connection and with NATO forces in foreign countries. The multicam is a perfect way to use a good camouflage and also blend in with regular troops. There is very little diferences between the UK and the US muticam so this is the perfect choice. If you would se a SSG operating in sweden they would probablybe wearing the M90. The few photos of them in exercises with multicam is probably for show.

I don't think the M90 is that good camouflage to be honest. And SOG are wearing multicam. The only reason they would wear M90 might be to blend in.

@@PXX-t1j The M90 is a very efficient camouflage in the northern dark forrests. The SOG is not operating in our homelands environment and usually among NATO personel. Use a multicam and a M90 in a dark swedish forrest and lets see what works and not. There is a darker jungle multicam that was designed for jungle that would work decent in swedish forrests.

@@Jonke75 Yea multicam is not so good either. The only one where I had a guy disappeared just in front of me was with the German flecktarn. Nah not a fan of the M90 and don't think it's that effective. Been in the Swedish military for nearly 35 years.

@@PXX-t1j I have a few years myself and are you sure we are talking about the same use. M90 is not a camouflage for a static unit. It is designed to blend in while on the move or in a dark shadowy forrest. And yes the felcktarn is weird. It standa out like a sore thumb untill in its right environment. A bit like M90. And remember to compare the newer generations of M90 as there are several combinations where the newer was brighter and has other colors if I recall it right.

I can say that not much of what was said in the film is true about SOG, as only those who are or have been within SOG know the truth and they say nothing. Then it's a big lie that you can recognize someone from SOG depending on the brand they wear which they say is number 3, which they don't do at all. Only the highest commander wears this badge and no one else. Since everyone in SOG has a secret identity, only nicknames are used and nothing else, nothing on their uniforms reveals this either. Furthermore, how long the selection process is is also secret, as even those who apply there should not know anything. You can only apply to SOG once, if you fail the test you can never apply again. Sean regarding how SOG is divided and what they do, they only know inside saw about. so what is claimed in the movie is also a lie. So it is impossible for an outsider to know anything within SOG, apart from what they themselves share, which is nothing special. Then in the film they have pictures of something that has nothing to do with SOG, they show a picture of the international task force against, among other things, Terrorists and these are Police and you can read that on their uniforms in the picture. Further fact no. 3, it is claimed that SOG's support group and then they show a picture of the Coast Guards and they are NOT related to SOG as it is claimed in the film. So, broadly speaking, the 10 facts that are claimed to be about SOG can be taken with a pinch of salt. So the facts you are looking for can be forgotten. Because if even those who ARE military know hardly anything about SOG, then how are those who made this film about SOG know more than Swedish military themselves know. There is a woman in Sweden who has been part of SOG for several years and she is the only woman in the world who has been part of such a special unit that exists in different countries.

I agree 100% the SOG is intensely secretive and few within the Armed Forces are initiated in their Actions,they are rumored to take orders straight from the Prime Minister to the Head of the SOG.

as suggested before: You should check out the "jägarsoldat" series. It is a long series about how to become a ranger in the swedish army. That is step one. After that, they chose what specific type of ranger they want to be and continue training to be selected. After that, the best performing soldiers get the possibility to try for the SOG (that you have reacted to). The "jägarsoldat" series is available with english subtext, since several english speaking youtubers have reacted, but some translations is really fucked up.

I actually got to meet a SOG soldier a few years ago during a open training day i think they recruited Hunter soldiers or formed a unit. I was working as hired man to mow the lawn and service different areas for the "fortifikationsverket" at one of their staff headquarters they used. He had full beard so he stood out next to the others lol and also carried the northern sword insignia. Very nice man to talk to but you could tell he was top notch he had a certain way to act. Focused but still casual. This was before alot of swedes were sent to afghanistan so he was probably attached to a command unit in preparation. Some had multicamo already and a IFV Galten had desert camo so not hard to guess there were they were going.

First, you do the military as an elite soldier who has an education of like one year. If you are good, you will get a request from S:O:G. you only get one question. If you then pass their tough test in 3 weeks, you have a chance. And the 3 weeks are tough, mentally, physically and stamina wise

7:49 that is Swedish SWAT not at all military. It's annoying when they keep showing images of random military etc. There are no confirmed pictures of SOG for obvious reasons. None that you would know for sure. Even if they have an insignia, it wouldn't be displayed. Not very secret if you do, right.

Eating popcorn and watching all the comments. What is open info is some history like the Para Rangers rapid reaction force that turned into SSG and SIG that turned into SOG. More or less the rest is classified, including tests, so you can’t see a video about that and nothing about what they include.

Nothing in this video can be presented as s a "fact". Because it's not known. It's an insider elite team that is secretive for obvious reasons. Sweden already have special forces. This is the secret one consisting of the absolute best. What they do. No one knows anything about. The selection process the only part sort of known is only open to people already IN special forces branches of the military. This isn't a group you can just join. So it being a few weeks it's grueling and they would have already needed to pass to become special forces as a Paratrooper, Marine Rangers, Arctic Rangers etc. So it becomes the elite of the elite of Special forces and in SOG then they train on all branches specialties. So basically they end up knowing and doing it all. Not a very large group either.

Land navigation/orientation would certainly be a part of it, the Para Rangers(based at the same place, Karlsborg Fortress in Västra Götaland county) do their annual Eagles March which is 70 km through the terrain in 24 hours, with various tests along the way to test ones soldiering skills, so I don't imagine it would be less physically demanding than that, probably more since the fieldtests lasts 1 week, my guess is they don't get much(if any) rest and sleep during that week, so they probably see flying hamburgers(bacon and cheese) at some point. A lot of the footage used in the video got nothing to do with the special forces though, they use multicam instead of standard M90, so thats an easy tell. Have a good day!

This guy gets a lot of his information wrong. But it’s mostly in the details. Regarding the selection a lot of it is very secretive. Initial selection is, to my understanding, pretty similar to what this guy says. But! Of course it doesn’t end there. There’s going to be a kind of qualification course after that. It’s been several years since I left my employment at one of the ranger regiments, so I don’t remember much and I don’t remember how much was actually kept secret about selection either. But I’m guessing that the qualification course is somewhere around a year long. I’d guess that you can still be eliminated from the course at any time during that period. One thing I’ll add is that personnel from all military units can apply. People from our ranger units are likely (still) in the majority but application is allowed from all service branches. If your commanding officers are not willing to give you a great recommendation you will likely not be called to the initial selection either. I might be wrong, in our armed forces things change often. But one thing I’m very certain of is that these elite operatives are not selected by a two week field exercise. There’s a lot more to it than that.

To my knowledge Sweden had some equivalent of, variably ;), special forces all the way back in 1523-1722. Of course I try not to think of the time AFTER what Swedish historians refer to as "Stormakts Tiden", (translates like: Great Power Era or Superpower Age) that would be 1722 and onward. Mostly rather depressing stuff really followed by some hundred years of neutrality. So I sorta skipped reading about that and thus I have no knowledge of continuity of Special Forces Companies/Battalions/Regiments until after the second world war after which time its turned into totally secret squirrel stuff. Which is kinda interesting in its way too, let the fantasy run amok.

This is a mixed force...a mix between Green Baret, Rangers, Delta force, SEAL... Extremely special edjucation... There is several other units who operate in total black ops who is NOT named. The secrets around all these "units" is tremendous, not known offical. Perhaps 10 people in the goverment/military has any knowledge about them.

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think you can actually apply for SOG. I think you get handpicked from the lot of military personel to try out for SOG, if you have shown in your basic training etc that you are "SOG-material", both physically and mentally. Like all SF-training it costs a lot of money, so they want guys an girls that are dedicated, and in it for the long run.
