Hope your pup enjoys it! Arlo has been REALLY liking it. And is coat is crazy shiny now. I will say that fresh human-grade dog food subscriptions that deliver to your door (custom formulated stuff like Ollie) isn't cheap. But it sure is good for them and it seems like Ollie is definitely one of the most inexpensive ones available. And with solid ingredients. I plan to do a whole video about them in the future. The price makes it not for everyone, but Ollie isn't as horrible as some others for sure! I've seen some of these companies get CRAZY with their pricing. Like "spending double on my dog's food than my own food every month" type of crazy. Haha.
@angelphillips18494 жыл бұрын
@@DobermanPlanet it would be $160 a month, which is kind of fine considering our insane cost of living in California. I’ll spend more on the ingredients, and I don’t have much time for cooking. So yes, geographically speaking - it’s a good deal for me.

@@angelphillips1849 Yeah I'm in Cali too. Totally understand. Plus you can deduct the amount you'd spend on the kibble that the Ollie food will replace also, so it's really not that bad overall.

@@DobermanPlanet That's not the worst of it. Last month while walking my dog's on loose leads on a small unmade road by my farm. My doby pup was sniffing at the grass, next thing he has a packet of rat poison in his mouth. Initially he dropped it on command. But as I bent down to pick it up, he did a quick snap and swallowed it whole. Luckily I saw it and was at vets in 15 mins. After daily horrendous injections in his back he has passed the critical stage and looks like he will be ok. But after I walked along without my dog's and not only found packets of poison but for 15 meters there was poison grain all over the road. This wasn't just a hazard to dogs but all manner of wildlife.

Love watching Arlo goof around in your videos, reminds me of our late Sarge. Just a big goofy boy his whole life. If your dog does get ahold of something bad best thing to do is get your turkey baster and soot some Peroxide down his throat. It will make him vomit and is 100 % safe to do. My wifes cousin is a vet and that was what we had to do to my mother in laws dog one Christmas when he ate 1 lb. of chocolate covered peanuts.
@jkprobert44924 жыл бұрын
My last doberman got into several stockings full of chocolate one Christmas. Ate it all. Didn't end up having any sort of adverse reaction, and we had even taken him into the vet who was like "how is this dog not, at the very least, sick?" Only thing we had to deal with was cleaning up tinsel (from the chocolate wrappings) decorated craps out of the yard. To this day, we're (vet and I) still in awe at how resilient Octavious (my old doberman, named after the Spider-Man villain) was to the chocolate. I recognize most dogs aren't this lucky, so people, please try to keep your dogs out of chocolate. Don't try it.

So glad everything worked out ok. That is scary! I do wonder if these dogs aren't a lot more resilient than science would have us believe. It's still good to avoid these foods of course but yeah I've heard of many bouncing back without issues.

Raw meat, eggs, and uncooked bones are really good for dogs
@DobermanPlanet4 жыл бұрын
Salmonella is the issue with those. And yeah, I'm certainly more conservative with my "safety" stuff than most, I'll absolutely give you that. Here's one article by VCA hospitals discussing the position of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of not feeding raw diets (including raw meat) to dogs: vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/dogs-and-raw-food-diets However, I won't lie and say that I'm not a little bit suspicious of this stance they take, especially when so many people have fed raw meats to their dogs for long stretches of time without issues. The other thing that makes me suspicious is when you read a lot of the research about why feeding raw meat to a dog is bad, the research will many times take a sudden left turn and focuses on the dangers to humans in the house with cross-contamination of salmonella as a result of feeding your dog raw meat. And not the dangers to the dog. But never the less, these studies still seem to conclude that raw meat is dangerous to the dog (most studies show a 25%-30% rate of infection of the salmonella bacteria in dogs that are fed raw meat). But then again, they often go on to say they're asymptomatic (i.e. showing no symptoms), but that they're spreading the bacteria. So for me personally, there's just too many questions surrounding it for now.

Got a question about heart worm meds since my donor has been on trifexis and she has got these large lumps on her side is it due to the med?
@shadowofthepast22604 жыл бұрын
Ask a vet. Even if it is a symptom of the medication, it could also be something far worse, which just happened to occur after taking the meds. A vet would have to examine her.

I honestly have no idea Tony. Definitely a question for a vet!

We have a lemon tree in the bkyrs and both our new med doberman and full size doberman picked up on on the ground and ran around the yard for a whole min in their mouth! I had to chase them until they dropped it! They havent touched one since the first time they went in our bkyrd. The look on their face too when they dropped... like a baby was given a lemon! So funny

Thanks for the info on this for our fur-babies.. My first Doberman lived to 12 and he loved having warm tea with milk for years.. Oops, no more tea for them..
@DobermanPlanet4 жыл бұрын
Definitely! Glad you enjoyed it. My understanding is it's just the caffeine in the tea. Unless there's also artificial sweeteners in there like Xylitol of course.

My only problem with my 2&1/2 year old Rufus which he’s getting much better at is his attention outside and to stop him from running and definitely not coming to me when I call him. I know he knows he is just stubborn. I worry about him getting away from my wife when he sees a cat or small dog, today he pulled her down and scraped her knees. The major issue I guess is how to make him stop on command and return. I don’t want him to seriously hurt another animal or himself especially get hit by a car. I heard choker collars can seriously hurt him. Please help asap. He was very aggressive when I got him from a bad environment at 6 months old. He’s very sweet now but plays aggressively which I can handle or tell him lay down. I just need him to stop and return on command. Quite a challenge. He’s come a long way except for that. My first one (passed 20 years ago) did everything I said without any real training. Just by his vocabulary and listening. This poor guy was abused and neglected before I got him. He is what got me out of bed after after a year due to chemo and radiation. If he would pay more attention outside and stop and come to me he would be perfect. I really need help with this last issue. Oh btw he’s never been without me since I got him because separation anxiety but that is ok I don’t mind having him with me 24/7.After 2 straight years + always with me I think I’m stuck. Oh, I must say: Your videos are awesome.

We have been feeding our Dobermans 1 hind quarter of raw chicken each morning for the past 8 years and often raw cow leg bones cut down just as long. Dogs are the same internally as wolves their systems are made to digest raw meats and bones. One word of caution do not let your Dobermans drink water right after consuming dry kibble, we always wait about 40 minutes after their meal of a quality kibble because they are subject to bloat which can kill your dog.. P.S. raw meats are good for your dogs teeth because of the enzymes in the raw meat, our Dobermans are 8 years old and their teeth are as white as a puppies with no tarter build up whatsoever and plus the enzymes help in their digestive systems as well..!

My 3 month old Doberman Hunter always tries to eat whatever he sees, Dirt, rocks, Grass, Leaves, Flowers which are all present in my Lawn and in the frontyard of my house. That's where I play with him and that's for a lot of hours. Is there anything I can do to prevent him from eating these things. Thank you

It's pretty common for a pup to feel these things with their mouth while they're learning about the world at that age. But eating and swallowing is a different story. They use grass to help settle an upset stomach so that might happen off and on for life. Dirt can be diet related (i.e. something they're missing in their diet nutritionally) or just because they're exploring. Rocks is concerning, especially if your dog is truly swallowing them. Much more common though is chewing and feeling rocks with their mouth at that age and during the teething stages though, and not swallowing them.

I just lost my beloved Dobie, Cotton, at 4 years old. The veterinarians all said that new studies say grain free dog food is NOT good for Dobermans. Want to let as many owners know as possible.

Do different Doberman dogs have different temperaments or does it only depend on the owner’s training.
@DobermanPlanet4 жыл бұрын
They definitely have different temperaments in so many ways. Of course there are common threads with how they behave which I always find super interesting but yeah, they are certainly individuals too. Owner training into their behaviors has a LOT to do with how they act, especially with this breed who is so owner-dependent.
