Good to hear about the ph. Mine goes from 7.9s to 8.1s and it’s been kind of buggin’ me. Keep talking myself, “don’t chase it, don’t do it.” Everything in the tank is happy so I’m letting it go. I just need my chaeto to take off.

Two things, 1 - your don't pull any punches approach is something I really admire, I think that's part your military background and part your personality, anyway i like it. 2- your tank looks great.

Thank you SO much for this video! I've been researching and collecting components for well over a year... Working up to my first reef build. And THIS is exactly what I needed right now. I've been over thinking and second guessing priorities, and your video just helped me sort it out! Thank you!

I'll be joining the hobby within the next 6 months and ive been researching since May last year. The only thing that's still blowing my mind is the best way to start the tank. I know there are several ways but every time I think I've found the best way I research it further and I end up finding negative comments. There's almost too much information out there now that as a beginner choosing which path to take is quite daunting. I've been looking at ATM Colony, Dr Tim's, prawn method, Red Sea Mature Pro etc. and they all seem to have as many cons as they do pro's. I'm perhaps over thinking it and should just pick one. I just want to start my journey on the best path
@joeymerrell85855 жыл бұрын
To be honest, you will always find a negative comment on all of it. As far as starting a new tank up, I am currently starting a very basic 40 gallon for my sister, and actually using several of those to get it going. Dry rock, live sand, dr Tim's one and only, atm the colony, fritz turbo start and the red sea reef mature program simultaneously. And monitoring off a seneye reef. 3 days and a very small diatom bloom but ammonia is at .003, stable ph and low nitrates. Should be all good in 5-7 days. I have had great luck out of all those bacteria's.

Excellent video with some seriously good info. I would've killed to know these things before I got into the hobby. Would have saved good money for sure but hey, it's part of the learning curve really. Loving the content dude, definitely want to pick some frags off you in the near future. Keep up the good work 🤟

Good content, for the newbies...Mandarin Drangonets are a separate family of their own vs. Gobies. Newbies can look up the differences; I had to again so. ..lol..Mandarins have swim bladders ...Gobies do not. I didn't know that about Gobies👀. A Mandarin was the first first I kept in a larger nano ...in 1983! The most important YT vlog this needs to be seen by alot of folks!!!! Good common sense👍TFS

How do you grow macro if you dont have a refugium? I have a 36 bowfront and literally no room for anything but small sump below. Also defietly overthinking dosing. I have been putting it off and doing water changes because my alk consumption is so varied and never consumes the same amount daily, some day 0.5 and some days 0! Also all the water changes has nitrates and phosphate very low. Maybe 0 on phos but detect the slightest hint of blue on salifert so must be 0.01. Appreciate your channel so much! You have been a big help and so glad I discovered you recently!

Great points there. Especially in that dont try to mimic someones tank exactly. One persons tank DKH of 7 may work for them and someone elses might be 10. Maybe their nutrient levels are different so require different levels of other things... Its all in the balance of Your Own Tank.

Doing a 20% water change every 4 days with high end Salt (Fritz's high calcium and KH ) keeps the Par.steady, and of course all the other good things too.

I couldn’t tell you exactly why or how but my tank runs at 8.4ph all day and night. I test with a blue lab handheld ph meter and calibrate it regularly.

I'm with you up until 'Aquatic Log', now maybe I'm jaded because I've been a dev for so long, but that app is very poorly written, and serving up mixed content is poses a security risk for users and is such an easy fix that I'm not sure why they let it go. Again, this has nothing to do with you - tank looks great, thanks for providing some great info.

I'm upgrading my 40 gal breeder and moving to a 75 gallon, do you have a recommendation for an overflow? I don't have a huge spending pile but I want to get something that will work well and I will be happy with.

Modular marine is great. They send everything you need to drill and install their overflow. They are sleek looking too.

use a small tank, sponge filter, heater and add nori about once per week to feed them.
@aphillyq5 жыл бұрын
I run a 10 g that I use for coral and inverts, it’s a hob, heater, light, and just 4 g water change every week, and top off middle of week. Everything was used, throw some food in to get some gha so there is always food. It always a little dirty, but no pests

why is the powder blue only swimming through half the tank and then turning back again? is it a territory thing? he just goes to the middle and JOINK back again.

The only failure in this hobby is quitting because you don’t want to learn from your mistakes. My example, I’m trying an anemone for the third time, 1st was epic fail, 2nd was a slow melting, now doing it again, learning and trying. If it doesn’t work, wait a few more months, learn more, try again.

You mention a third party app, but why not input the data into your apex? It tracks levels with a graph if you input the data into it. You can also add notes to keep track of anything you like which will be dated and time stamped.
