alot of them do work themselves to death though, and i dont look at their lives as being balanced. i especially dont like shonen jumps absolute insane schedule for manga, and its not even animation, but its already bad. i cant imagine ppl working on anime.

For the first one if you are a traditional artist, take pictures of your work as your working on it. That way if something happens to it or it goes horribly wrong, you have something to reference if you want to start again. Not exactly the same, but it does help.

Thank you for this... I’m in the second year and I’m experiencing major burn out and I feel like I have absolutely NO RIGHT to be burnt out... but I’ve found myself procrastinating to no end no one really understands ...I’ve never been this lazy in my life. Anyway I really enjoy your videos and your art work 💕💕

Damn number 7 hit me hard! Easier said than done. Almost lost friends to silent competition on both sides. Its great advice; try to keep your egos in check and remember success can come in many ways. Most times you dont even realize it: insecurities and ego- they're intertwined. Believe in yourself and in your friends and colleagues. Filmmaking is teamwork after all!

I don't know if it's because of how long ago I went to school, but everything you list at the beginning as options to go into as an artistic field I didn't even know existed. I couldn't find any animation classes to take and everything offered was either fine art or graphic design. I originally wanted to go into animation but found that I had no options as far as schooling, and with no one to help me look into colleges.
@_Nyxus_5 жыл бұрын
I was the same way, honestly, especially in the looking for proper colleges. I wanted to be a concept artist, so I wanted to find classes to help me improve my drawing skills and get me to that point of being able to actually understand what I was attempting to draw. Same issue: fine art or graphic design. And the absolute BS number of art history courses, which was way more than actual drawing courses. Honestly, I'd say look into online classes. It might seem a pain, but it's cheaper and you can pick which classes you believe to be helpful in what YOU are going for. AdamLucidPixel on here gives great advice as to why online courses are better, more efficient, and way cheaper. Hope you continue to fight for what you want to do and keep trying.

@LoneWolf-tk9em5 жыл бұрын
Well I always dream about going into an Art school, but my parents don't have that much money. So learning online/youtube is my only option. I don't know if it will help me doing any professional quality things, but Drawing has always been my hobby & passion. So I do it anyway. But still Studying in Art schools look quite fun though....

Your videos always give me motivation to draw. I wanted some advice hopefully in a future video, about how to have motivation in this competitive art world. I mean these past few years we see a vast amount of people wanting to go into art, especially animation and character design, which means as artists we need to find ways to stand out from the crowd whether it comes to gaining attention on social media or trying to find a career in the future. Right now I would currently be at a beginner - intermediate level and so I have a looong way to go. I currently share an instagram with my friends and we've had the page for almost 3 years and we only have 64 followers but we also have about 438 posts. I mean I don't want to have an increase of followers for the popularity necessarily but I want people to recognize my work and attract people so they can critique my work so I can improve. I know likes and followers does not make a good artist and I don't focus on that but I don't know many artists that could help me improve in my work so I would at least like social media to help, but the instagram algorithm is a pain. I would post on my personal account but I feel less confident on showing my work to my family and friends than to strangers. So until I know I've improved I'm just going to use my group account.

Ugh I'm so glad she said that it isn't super important to go to school because I didn't want to go uni due to mental health. I tried to do a foundation course after my college course but my mental health was just getting so bad and I ended up being kicked off due to not coming in. Sometimes I wish I went to uni with the friend I made in college for the sake of making friends and meeting new people but I just always struggled so much with the written work/book work. Just want to create art and make a living from it.

4:20 oh god first learning to rig was a nightmare lol. I was trying to do a walk cycle but all it did was break their arms. 5:13 this is a very important tip to keep in mind. I tried to work in chunks but I always had a large amount of edits left to do right at the end. My senior year, finals week meant staying at the computer lab for 13 hours a day. Avoid crunch at all costs, it sucks lol

mewTripled!! Can you make a video of going over the process of applying to CalArts!! I want to apply soon, I'm in my senior year and I want to apply for character animation! I visited the website and I think I had an information overload, I'm not asking for anything detailed, just something brief and skimmed through, it would really help me a lot, I'm really scared I won't do it right, please don't feel obligated to do this! Not that I’m at all encouraging you to use friends. But you should never be mean or salty to anyone be used you never know who they’ll become one day that person could work in an industry you want and they could remember how kind you were and find a way to help you get a job if you apply their or something

So if anyone has some piece of advice for me regarding this theme imma just leave this comment here. So I am currently 14 years old turning 15 in 2020 and I will be making a list of high schools where I will apply. And for so long I have been strugling(sorry if mispelled) which hs to put as my number1 hs. But the hs i put first will be the one where the system automaticly puts and so on until hs number6. I'm currently in between animation and architecture. And everyone is always saying "awww you'd be so good in art school, you've always had a gift for it" "art school? No money from that you will fail in life" "Architecture I am so proud of you! You know it's like really hard, right?" And everyone always comments on how bad my choices are. I tell my mom to go to a hs that allows me to think more about my future but she says it's bad for me and the teachers are the worst there. My friends know what they want to do but I am stuck in between walls that are closing in. In my country you don't pay for college but you only pay for the dorm, if you live in one of course, so I can go anywhere I want, just need the right grades. Help me please ;-;
@hyacinthgrows4 жыл бұрын
Sorry this is really late but I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm stuck between architecture and animation and I'm not sure which one to choose either. I think you should do some research, visit universities or colleges that have animation and architecture courses. Make your own stories and draw your own characters. I'll admit that I'll have to do these things as well but I don't think you should limit yourself to only one thing at this point. Look into a variety of different fields, science, maths, engineering. Anything counts. Ask your parents, teachers and any other adult with a bit more life experience for their take on this. I hope you have a nice life and good luck!
