Varsågod means "be so good". It can mean "you're welcome", but it also means, "Be so good as to accept this thing I'm giving you now". You'd use it in place of "Here you are" when handing something to someone, whether it's your credit card at the store or coffee at a cafe.

Hi dude, just a quicky. I learn Swedish as a hobby and figured you may be the person to ask about this: I started with Duolingo but frankly phases such as 'The moose likes the watermelon' wouldn't help me if I'm trying to find my way back to my hotel while drunk in a dodgy area of Stockholm! MemRise seems a lot more practical, but the question I'm asking is do you know of any other more 'ground level' on-line Swedish courses? Any feedback would be really appreciated 👍
@YAYGOME3 жыл бұрын
Well it depends where you’re located, if you’re in Sweden you can go to SFI (Swedish for immigrants), it’s free and for people that seriously want to learn the language but outside of the country you are limited to apps and podcasts etc. Mostly people recommend listening to Swedish radio (you can get that in an app) personally I just zoned out everything I didn’t understand and it was pointless for me 😂 so if you’re like me I would say try watching Swedish shows, or even better, a few Swedish KZbinrs (with subtitles!). For me I find I always tend to read the subtitles even if it’s English 😂 so it’s a good way to learn. Especially if you combine it with something like Duolingo because you’ll learn how to phrase things better. I also use Duolingo but I totally understand what you mean. If you pay for it though you get the quizzes and they’re a bit more useful than the typical stuff (I did find the higher levels were better though, try to get up the map instead of just maxing to level 5 on each topic - assuming you haven’t already!) 🥰 hope that helps 😬 good luck!!

"Varsågod" is a lot closer to "here you are" than "you're welcome" (I can't think of anything in swedish that matches closely to "you're welcome" (in this context)) ("var så god" is literally "be so kind") In swedish how rude "struntprat" ("rubbish") and "nej" ("no") are is inverted compared to english english, saying "struntprat" is closer to how yanks would react to someone saying "rubbish" at a statement/opinion.. And systembolaget is awesome - point me to the UK town with less than 500 inhabitants where I can reliably get belgian beer, french champagne, finnish hard liquor, japanese sake, and mexican tequilla without a hefty markup and we can start talking (that is a fairly easy thing to pull off in sweden with the aid of systembolaget (even if systemet's selection of sake is severly limited)) (You can order almost anything from the entire systemet catalouge (their baseline selection is about 2400 products) to any arbitrary systembolaget or their agencies - so when you are at the small town in the middle of nowhere you can get some truly weird stuff with ease). But overall, yeah, we are weird - I mean, despite alko and systemetbolaget being virtually the same thing it is a hassle to get one to order stuff from the other.

The Taco Friday thing is quite new. It didn't exist when I grew up (in the 70's and 80's). And personally I don't acknowledge it now either. The "Fredagsmys" thing is quite new as well. A way to make a family friendly version of the danish "Hygge". And concerning the Eurovision... we are quite a few people here who would rather kill ourselves than suffer a night with eurovision, let alone five nights. A joke about that goes "If you have to choose between watching the Eurovision and shot yourself in the foot. Which foot would you choose?" The Midsummer thing... well, it is alcohol needed for that. Unless you happen to be a child - then you are excused. I have never enjoyed it and most of my relatives and friends wouldn't do it without some courage from a "snaps". The "Varsågod" controversy is sufficiently covered by others... it rougly means "here you are". Systembolaget is a very hot potato politically. The alcohol monopoly is the last monopoly of the old socialdemocratic order, and for some reason there is no political majority for breaking it up. Not as yet. I'm with you there. Because of the monopolly people tend to go abroad (mostly to Germany or - in some cases to Denmark) and then you buy much more than you would ordinarily consume instead of going down to a wineshop or to the supermarket and just buy the alcohol you need at that particular moment. It's weird, but it is unfortunately not going to change anytime soon. Snus - snuff. It's an alternative to smoking. Quite disgusting for us who doesn't use snuff, especially the non-pad versions that was the most common when I grew up. But it is an alternative for people who need their nicotine fix and trying to stop smoking. - The Cigarette companies has successfully had in banned outside of the nordic countries - it is a formidable competitor for them and probably less dangerous cancerwise. I like rants like yours today. Keep them coming. We need to hear it - a different perspective is never wrong.

Skiing on pavement is great because you don't have to wait for winter or go somewhere where there's snow. If you think wheels on skiis are wierd then you must feel the same about skates/rollerblades. And I don't do tacos on Fridays myself, I have it when I feel like it. Tacos isn't always what you're hungry for on a friday. Btw we call it tacos but no one actually make it tacos. It should be called Tex-Mex Friday because it's a mix of Texas and Mexico influense and not proper tacos. And snus is much better than smoking in terms of health risks, you don't see signs saying snusing isn't allowed. It's discreet so you can have it anywhere before/during/after, you can have it loose or in black or white pouches, white is better for your teeth and doesn't drip as much so don't need to spit plus pouches keeps it in place better than loose. There are flavored snus, whatever berry, fruit, plant or mix under the sun that you might like. There's even whiskey and daquiri flavored snus. I don't like the tobacco taste so I go with snus where the flavor dominates, it's litterally almost like candy how strong the flavor is on the ones I like. But the flavor-tobacco balance varies too to suit your preference. And the strength varies, from like 5 mg of nicotine up to 43 mg, whatever suits you. If you don't like tobacco there's also tobacco free snus alternatives.

But what is even better is not smoking or snusing at all! 😄 No I don't find skating or rollerblades weird because they were first designed to be on wheels. Skis on the other hand are not. You also can use a dry ski slope and then you also don't have to have snow / wait for winter! I guess thermally strange part is that skiing is usually down a hill / mountain and not on a flat pavement. But, each to their own as we say in England! If we were all the same life would be very boring indeed. And as I said at the start, its all just banter so please don't take it seriously or take offence!

Haha. I'm thinking about it now and I feel like "varsågod" is the word you say as you're handing something over or doing something as a word to express your own good will, and if the person says "thank you", you either accept in silence (because you've both done something polite and the exchange can end there) or in a more formal setting you reply with "ingen orsak". ("No reason [to thank me]"). You only answer "tack" with "varsågod" if you forgot to say it in the first place.

Sweden isn’t as entrenched a class society as Britain, but in terms of manners I’d argue that it’s one area where you see class differences surface. Middle class people who are well-travelled in polite countries, and who may work in organisations with international operations, are more careful and polite in the British/continental sense of the word. Being blunt is seen as a very working class or provincial trait, a way people who tend to move within a limited social space communicate. You just need to look at the political parties: the parties with a working class base gravitate toward more common sense “straight talk” (telling it like it is) rhetoric that is proudly anti-intellectual. That being said, since the industrial era, the idealised Swede is a straight talking, hard working labourer. So this type of talk isn’t frowned upon but rather seen as brave and honest. In my understanding, the idealised Brit is rather a measured middle class civil servant. That’s my take on it.
@YAYGOME3 жыл бұрын
😱 This is a very interesting point!! You are very right! I have never really noticed "Class" as much of a thing here.. I suppose aside from swedes talking about "hillbillies or rednecks", which I think is more of an American thing? I do wonder.. Is the lack of classes thing because of the difference in pay? The typically "lower" jobs in England, like cleaning, building etc are not really seen as such in Sweden. I find the pay is just so much better for the typically less education heavy jobs. (Please don't misunderstand me, I most certainly do not see these jobs as lower but it is just my understanding that this is how some perceive those jobs in England... Snobs as we like to call them!). But I do find that people see all jobs as being capable of a career in Sweden For example, coffee shops asking for barista training etc. 🤔Which makes me wonder if people are seen as a little more equal. I think I am blithering and making little to no sense... Anyway, your comment was very interesting, I can quite see how that could be true! Thanks for watching, take care!!

With costumes and everything (I have pictures of myself dressed as a witch around the age of 5). No one does that any more. Taco Friday: I expect this is an extension of worker lunches, where there's a traditional Swedish husmanskost menu. Literally pyttipanna on Monday, raggmunk on Tuesday, fish on Wednesday, ärtsoppa and pancakes on Thursday and meat on Friday. Good, hardy food for people working industrial jobs. Everyone knew what they would get and the kitchens knew what to cook. Sounds very Swedish doesn't it? I don't have taco Friday but I also don't have any friends to hang out with irl. Gaming on Mobile: I don't get it either, why wouldn't you use a regular internet connection. Same goes with wireless mice and keyboards. Just bound to be problematic. 4 weeks vacation: It's been proven you need at least 3 weeks of vacation to truly unwind. Hence why it's a law. You DON'T have to take it in summer, but honestly, would you want 3 weeks vacation in the middle of Swedish winter? Eurovision: No. The only times I've watched it is when it's a family event. Same as watching Let's Dance, other game shows or sports that aren't biathlon or orienteering. I do it to hang out with my family. Being straightforward is being polite: No, they're just rude. There's a line between being honest and being rude and some people don't know where that line is. Is it cultural? I don't know. Systembolaget: It's been proven that people drink 30% less because of it. That was probably before EU though, now people could just buy shit tons of alcohol in Germany and ship it back here. Taxing the shit out of alcohol, just like cigarettes, seems sensible to me. Paying off those hospital bills in advance. They're probably already taxing the shit out of snus too, but if they don't they should because it's also bad for you. In fact, they should probably monopolize cigarettes and snus too, in my opinion.

Dancing like frogs on midsummer. The song is a french march "La Chanson de l’Oignon" which was made fun of by the British (yes you) and later got translated into swedish in the late 1800s. So basically pre ww1 brits taking the mickey out of the french. Summer vacation 4 weeks. This is a combination of industrial times where they closed down factories during vacation and the privilage of getting combined weeks of vacation in the short summer.

Subbed, but I have to tell you, in terms of vacation swedish law states that you are entitled to 5 weeks vacation where 4 are consecutive.This means it's illegal for an employer to deny you the 4 consecutive weeks. But you are welcome to use them whenever you want. Living in a country which is completely dark for 9 months makes pretty much everyone choose to use all weeks (except for one that we use over christmas) over summer. A standard rule also is that you get 6 weeks paid vacation if you stop getting paid overtime. Sincerity for the Brits always for some reason are construed to be rude. Can't really get that. Varsågod means just as John says, "please take the salt now that I'm holding it up to you out of politeness because you asked for it" Whereas the first time I asked for someting at a table in the UK I got "God helps those who helps themselves" :) I know what I would answer to that now, 30 years later" :)

Nope, its not "just you". Eurovision (Mello) is hugely overhyped in Sweden. Swedish is a direct language and lacks a lot of polite phrases that can be found in english... Like forming a question as if its a statement or ending a question with "please". We can, but we generally dont. We could say "kan du skicka sockret, är du snäll?" (could you pass the sugar, please?) but for the most part we say "skicka sockret" (pass the sugar). What is inteneded as a question comes as an direct order. Swedish simply isnt a polite language, tbh. Also, your personal oppinion might be factually wrong. If your "oppinion" is that my car is yellow, I will tell you... No, its red. I think the "varsegod" problem is localized. I don't generally say it, unless you thank me. Though I know that you are at least partially right, some of us do. Thats why I think its localized. Also, I am from the north, where we are know to be even less polite and social. We know that, outside of Scandinavia (Norway and Finland has an similar aproach) Systembolaget is rediculous. On the other hand, when I go abroad and buys booze... I react on the tiny the selection is. Besides the actual reasons for Systembolaget... Having one big store supplying all alcohol also makes it possible for them to hold an assortment rediculously much bigger then any "normal store". This would not be a problem in Stockholm/Göteborg/Malmö and a few other places, but in smaller cities the selection would drastically decrese. Anyway... We know you think its silly and we wont chatise you for that ;) The bingedrinking started long before we started regulating alcohol. This is a leftover from the same period as US had their prohobition era. Alcohol in Sweden is expensive. But thats taxes, not lack of competition. Would the prices drop if we lifted the regulations? Yeah, somewhat. The nicotine intake from Snus is said to be about 5x that of smoking. And I can say, from the standpoint of one uses snus, that I agree. If I am out of Snus, ciggaretes would not solve the abstines problem. As for "why"... I think its because of the amount of places where you could not smoke historically. Sweden have for example had a lot of sawmills, papermills and other factories connected to wood. Places where smoking was directly dangerous and straight out banned (by the employer). Thus an other form of tobacco was sorta needed.

Actually you Brits are to blame for the midsummer frog dance. The melody is ripped off from a French marching song Le chant de l’Oignon with the refrain going Au pas camarade, but you brits had to go and make fun of the French and make a mock version changing camarade to grenoil (frog, because the French eat frogs), and that became the original inspiration for our midsummer song.

The varsågod/tack thing. You miss your own clues, Varsågod means "there you are" as you say. That is "you are welcome to take this". But it also means "you're welcome" as a response to a thank you. So it depends on the situation. If I give you an apple I say varsågod. You say tack. And we're done. If somebody reaches you an apple out of nowhere and you take it and say tack you probably get a varsågod back. And that's it. It's about balance. And about going away from a social or economic transaction knowing that all scores are cleared. The Swedish word "tacksamhetsskuld" is important. Indebtness, but more so. Not many people in this individualistic country wants to stand in debt socially. And the oppsite, Nobody wants to have somebody being indebted to them. We're all equal, at least we think so, and social indebtness messes with that sense of equality. And if you want to see that in action, just look a little extra at how people behave when checking out at the grocery store. You will hear a lot of tack, tack, tack. You got to be sure to equalize a lot of stuff that our culture is not really good at handling. It's like karma or the dust in The Golden Compass-books. And it's the varsågod that is the dust. You can spray tack around you, but should keep the varsågods to an absolute minimum. So. Just say tack a lot and walk away if it get's messy. Then you should be good. And if you want to be really, really sure say: åååh, tack.

I just LOVED this video and your thoughts! Yes. I am Swedish. No. No submissive... well... err... say again. Point two it was? First off. I laughed and basically... Yep, yup. Spot on. Almost all points, as far as I'm concerned. Let me try to explain *one* Swedes view on it. No defence speech here, just... a reaction. If I may?... Warning. Long one. I couldn't hold back. Sorry. And yeah. Traces of irony here too... 1. Roller Skiing Pass. I agree. It does look ridiculous. Just don't get it. Careful about those hockey taunts though, that's sensitive areas. Usually Canadians are the ones that has the right to taunt Swedish Hockey. Or maybe our dear Finland friends. 2. Show bedroom See. We're not as inhibited as Brits. What's the point of treating the bedroom as a private place where the hosts might as well have used the very dining table you're eating at, for some serious... what was it? Submissive play? Hey, why limit yourself to the house/flat to begin with? Seriously. Don't get it either. It's just... awkward to show the bedroom. Still, if you are a guest and have to use the restroom, well, DON'T peek into the cabinet... 3. Midsummer dance Yep. It's ridiculous. And you got it wrong. Swedes hate that Frog dance. You read it right. Pay attention next time you watch the whole show at midsummer. Who dances? First off the person initiating the whole thing, dressed in traditional Swedish clothing. Probably one of the persons arranging the whole thing. Then we might have the band, one or more persons. After that? Parents of kids. Note that the parents try to engage their kids. "See, this is FUN!". Do you EVER see a kid over say... 6-7 years participate (older siblings standing in for their parents don't count as kids here)? Then you have a gap. Next range of age is around 18-20 to about 25. There we have the "almost grown ups". Most likely drunk as f*k. At least drunk enough to find it funny to play games that anyone older than 6 will dismiss as stupid. And then we have the eldery that is not old enough to blame age for not participating. They might ride along to show that "this is something we've all done. C'mon now!". Or they're just standing in for the parents of those kids below 6. What about those parents? Why on earth force the kids to dance in the first place. Easy! Because they have a bad conscience about the whole midsummer day. It's all about drinking alcohol and all of a sudden they are reminded of their responsibilities as parents. The whole dance thing is to soften the bad feelings about drinking vodka at 12 o clock, middle of the day. Alcohol and Swedes have a very toxic friendship. We'll get back to that in point 9... So why Swedes so obsessed with this Midsummer thing? That's another story, but we - as you... might have noticed... love being talked about by non-Swedish people. Well, as long as you guys don't taunt us. We love to explain that this pole with its flowers and rings hanging is just one big fallos to represent the tradition to pray for good harvest. To have a fertile... you get the drift. And then we dance around this fallos. It's pretty... awkward. And we know it. Most of us hate it. Just play along. 4. Taco Friday Yep. Why? Just... why? Tacos are fine, but... it's getting out of proportions. "Fredagsmys" actually started as a commercial for a snack brand. Must admit they managed to nail that one... 5. 4W summer vacay Here I'm getting serious. For real. It's you guys getting it wrong. I believe that there's research showing that in order to really relax and make those days off pay off - at least three weeks are required. And we do have, usually, five, six or even more weeks. So 1-2 weeks left to top off weekends and in between days, the rest of the year. So dear Brits, get with the programme. It's good for you :) :* 6. Eurovision Now. You mentioned it briefly yourself. Saying *anything* about Eurovision and being the country that seems to put an effort in coming last, just don't... work. Sorry. :* Part from that.. Eurovision is a thing that just... well, as with point 9, it divides this country in two sides. But basically, yes, it's grown to proportions that is just... nah. Fun fact: some 20 years ago someone noticed the declining number of viewers of the show, here in Sweden and came up with an idea. They changed the concept and made the Swedish selection process more of an interactive show, less a presentation of a result. Back in the 80's it was stiff and selected groups of people voted. All of a sudden, the Swedish people where involved and to get people going, it was arranged as a Band Aid sort of thing to collect money for the ones in need. The transformation was so successful that it bypassed the real Eurovision in popularity. You have to give those people that. Then, as usual when something is really successful, it's the challenge of stopping while on top. Like sequels to good movies or singers trying to reenact their most successful album. At some point, you either drop it, or do another evolution. The Swedish Eurovision in current format is way over due. Way over. 7. Straight forward. Yep. Agreed. Still, I think it's our lack of being subtle using English. We want to be polite but just fail. 8. Varsågod. "I'm just happy to oblige" would be more like it. 9. Systembolaget. As mentioned, Swedes and Alcohol don't mix. We just don't. If it hadn't been monopolized, we'd been drinking ourselves back to beyond stone age. That's pretty much the reason it was needed and most likely still is needed. We can pretend we're sophisticated all we want. We just can't handle it. The rest is just excuses. Part from one thing. Give the employees at Systembolaget a chance to shine. They're (usually) well educated and love to help finding the right beverage for the occasion or dish in question. Systembolaget try to educate their employees in what they sell in a manner that I challenge you to find in those stores you referred to. I can be wrong. Part from that, most people being against Systembolaget is just annoyed they have to plan their... binging.. in accordance with the opening hours of Systembolaget. And binging is what happens when you monopolize the drinking to to stop people from drinking too much. Now you have to stock pile the alcohol... OR... invent things like midsummer to have an excuse to go back drinking as back in the good'ole days... ;) 10. Snus. Game over. You win this one. Can't understand it either. But I'll tell you one thing. It is an excellent conversation starter when abroad. Trust me. Especially if it's kramsnus.

Nice collection of weird things! Most of them I don't understand either, and I am Swedish and have been living in Sweden all my life. * Swedish midsummer with "små grodorna" is just weird and it isn't even funny. * Taco friday? Well, I must have been hiding under a rock for a decade, because that didn't exist when I was a child. Suddenly people was talking about "fredagsmys" and I had no idea where that came from. * Four weeks of holiday in July is something that is typical for industrial workers, and then it has spread to a lot of other people. * ESC has always been overhyped and somewhat boring, but I am actually starting to like it more nowadays. I mean Måneskin is really a great band! * Systembolaget isn't a place I visit that often. Last time was a few years ago with my then girlfriend. We bought something similar to Baileys Irish Cream. Last time I drank something with alcohol in it was probably some homemade mead. * Snus is just gross and especially when it is "lössnus" used by some old farmer that have it dripping out of his mouth!

As for not being allowed to hold a personal opinion, I think you are misunderstanding us Swedes a bit there. It's not that we say you can't hold that opinion. But if you can defend your position well (like that beer should be served lukewarm...) then we will most likely respect it, even if we remain unconvinced of it's merits. 😉👍

I see what you mean but it's not what I mean at all. If someone wants to disagree that's just a normal conversation right? I think this, you think that and you discuss both.. At least to me that is very normal. What is weird is when people say things like "No you are wrong" about an opinion. I guess maybe they confused the terms " wrong" and "disagree". But to say someones opinion is wrong is just rude and obnoxious but to say you disagree is completely reasonable, understand and maybe even interesting if you have a good alternative point of view. Kind of hard to explain since there is a lot of cultural etiquette behind these things but I hope that makes sense.

@@mholm4962 your reply is almost one 😂 its so direct, without any kind of additional words it makes it sound quite harsh and demanding. I would instead say "can you give me an example?" There are many other ways but that is the simplest. But of course this is not really overly rude, I mostly mean if I were to say something like, "in my experience, swedish people don't understand sarcasm" and then someone tells me I am wrong. Well I can not possibly be wrong because it is my opinion from my own experience, even if the person was there which they weren't, its still my opinion. In reality I think it's not even really directness it's just arrogance 😂 because to me, directness is more just being to the point, like your comment, rather than just saying people are wrong etc.

Celebrating the summer solstice. Whith a lot of sill, potatis, knäckebröd... And snaps. Then uninhibited orgies in the shrubs... Swedish babies are born in March. Or in September. (Due to the favourite winter past time activity). Same in Norway....💑 🍾Systembolaget. Utterly outdated. It's political nannying. Danes buy their alcohol along with their groceries. The clever clogs.... At least some of them are still sober. 🥂 (On a dayly basis). 🌞The curtain matter.... Let the sunshine in. We've little to hide anyway. Every living room pretty much looks the same. Why ? IKEA....💙💛 ⛱Summer vacation. The sun is up 24/7. Let's enjoy that. Soak up as much vitamin D as we possibly can. It's well deserved. I would more say "varsågod" translates to "here you go". There is also a second use of varsågod you probably missed, as it is not such a common place any more. And that is when every one is sitting at the table waiting to start to eat. Then every one is waiting for the magical words "varsegod och ät". Sort of like "go ahead and eat". And to be fair it can be used like that. The "rude" way. But then I would say it is more of a I am holding open the door for you and you walk through and say nothing. Then you can get a louder "VARSÅGOD" as a reprimand to learn to say thank you. Also I feel "varsågod" is falling out of use. I find not many people use it now a day. ='( The 4 weeks summer vacation stems from back when the industry where the top employer. Then they would shut down 4 weeks and every one went at vacation at the same time. Known as "industri semester" or industrial vacation. So it is a remnant from that. Now a day very few places clos down like that. And to be fair I think every one has at least 5 weeks of vacation. So taking 4 at summer should be no big deal. =) Who ever said that you get good prices at systembolaget have severely misunderstood how things work. I would argue that their initial reason for existing is not really there any more. And now they serve as more of a quality control. And FYI "we have pubs with a whole variety of choice" is not really a argument. For it to be one Sweden would either have to completely lack pubs. Or the pubs sortiment would have to be very small / regulated. Which it is not. What is good however is that your local systembolaget may stock things from smaller local brewers. And if you live in another part of the country you can just tell your store "hey I want some of this from down there" and they get that for you at no extra cost. And I find it hard you would be able to do that in a supermarket. You can order any thing from there catalog to any store no matter the size or if it is something they normally stock or not. To go on a tangential rant. We have had a few government controlled monopolies, like the trains, the pharmacies and the post to mention three. And when they deregulated it, it al turned to shit. And that is not just me speaking, that is the public opinion. And at the best, when I talked to people about it, I have heard they thought it was the same as before. That alone is the biggest reason to not deregulate. In my book at least. Regarding the directness. Is it not more rude to force your opinion on some one and expect them to just "say nothing". And if they asked, then see it as a invitation for a discussion. Personally I think it is healthy to have your opinions questioned from time to time. It is al to often they grow stale and transform from opinion into facts. Or I also find people stating their opinion getting angry when someone is saying they are wrong. Claiming freedom of speech. No one denied them to say their thing, but why do they expect people to stay silent and not say something back? And to be fair snus was, at least historically, commonly used al over europe. Only it was a dry powder you sniffed. But I totally agree with it being smelly and not very nice. Sorry for the partially ranty reply. And thank you for a entertaining video. =)
@YAYGOME3 жыл бұрын
😅 whoa that was a long one! I agree with pretty much everything you say except one giant issue you completely misunderstood me…The whole it’s rude to have an opinion questioned 🙈 it feels horrible to think someone thought I meant this!! I’ve obviously done a terrible job of trying to explain what I mean! But, allow me to try again. Having a discussion or conversation is fundamentally the exchange of ideas, opinions and knowledge back and forth. I’m certainly not questioning basic conversation or freedom of speech!! I simply mean, there are the kind of people that take someone’s opinion, respect it, maybe ask more about it and even maybe offer their alternative opinion (that’s just politely disagreeing and continuing a conversation). What I was talking about is a whole other situation when someone is flat out rejecting your opinion by saying no you’re wrong. Really the fundamental is, I might disagree with you but it’s not my place to say you’re wrong. You can’t be wrong about your opinion, it’s yours to make and if I said you were I’m just an arrogant arse to you 😂 I should say I disagree. I hope you see what I mean now. I had to clarify because I love debating things and (as a Taoist person I love balance and respect everyone’s view so it’s really important me to that people don’t think I don’t want to have anyone question me 😂 that’s entirely not what I meant!! And I don’t think I mentioned anything about people having to remain silent and not have their own opinion anyway so I’m not sure where that came from, your assumption I guess?) Either way, I hope you understand what I meant now!! Thanks for watching, take care 😊

@@YAYGOME it did not come of that way. Sorry for the comment if that was unclear. Basically after "personally .." I just say things as I have seen them and how I think they are bad, in general. Not how you come of in the video. So again sorry. I get what you meant. regarding that some people seem to lack tact and fines in how they put forward something. The one reason why Systembolaget isn't challenged more is the simple fact that it produces a lot of money for the treasury. Then you can argue if that's a good way to pay for the societal costs of alcohol consumption. If there's one thing about Sweden that I as a Swede can't wrap my head around it's the duality of Swedish exceptionalism (In Sweden we do it this way...) and Jantelagen saying there's nothing worse than a braggard. Systembolaget is definitely one example of this dichotomy.
