#3 is key. The way I say it is “don’t compound your errors.” A cookie is just a cookie. It doesn’t matter. But psychologically once people have committed a “sin,” they feel like they’ve already crossed a line and it ends up triggering a whole series of bad choices.

it's wild that she even has to clarify it's not an eating disorder (#4). I knew so many guys who got into fitness and loved the gym in high school and no one batted an eye. As a girl her interest in strength and health at a young age is automatically questioned. we can truly never win.

Yesss Amelie! As someone who's a bit younger than you and who started their fitness journey around the same time as you, I look up to you so so much! Although I was very close to achieving my goals about a year into my journey, I did form some very unhealthy habits when I entered high school that I've found hard to break. Fortunately, I've regained my passion for exercise and now am working towards a healthier relationship with food, as well as trying to distance myself from an all-or-nothing mindset. I really resonated with what you said about fitness-it's a lifelong journey, not a quick fix. Realizing that suddenly made the process feel much more manageable and enjoyable! You're doing such incredible things and I hope we all continue to thrive on our fitness journeys!! ❤

Wow, your advice on being true to yourself and your own goals when so many others are voicing their own doubts/criticism/misplaced concern...you are a true role model for literally anyone. Love your take on consistency over perfection too.

You don’t even realize how much you have inspired me and how great this advice is. I had gained a really toxic mindset with food and everything and just hearing your words that I didn’t need to be perfect, it felt like it fixed everything. I had always had a very good relationship with food up until a few months ago, I started tracking my calories and somehow along the line It just got way out of hand. somehow, I ended up making myself purge whenever I would eat something high in calories and eventually I just told myself I could not do it anymore. My throat hurts so bad and I opened up to my family and they were so sad and I didn’t want to see them like that. After that I just started binging so badly and I couldn’t exert it so I just felt like I was ruining so much progress and so I would just eat and eat and eat. And to be honest, this problem is still going on now, but just watching your video has given me so much light. When I was younger, my Gran always used to tell me to not worry about what I ate and so I always had a healthy relationship with food. I never felt like I needed to eat anything sugary or anything. In fact, I always wanted to eat healthier because we always had something sugary in our house and I didn’t feel the need to eat it, but after I got on my whole spiel, I just started craving things that I’ve never craved before. And I know my Gran is trying to help now by telling me that my body is growing into a woman, however, I know that this is not a factor like I had a real binging issue, and I knew the way I was growing was not because I was becoming a woman. It was because of my toxic mindset that I had gained with food. But now that I’ve heard your words, I feel like I can accomplish my goals without having to be in this cycle. Thank you so much.

I really needed this. I’ve wanted to start my fitness journey for so long because I’ve just been wanting to feel confident in myself and all that but I’ve struggled so much with this “I need to have the perfect diet” and the all or nothing mentality and all that. So hearing this from someone that really knows these things really made me realize that my fitness journey don’t have to have the “everything needs to be perfect” mentality.

Well done advice. Remember too as a teen and even into your low 20’s, your body will change too. The habit is key for good health. For the females afraid of bulking up / getting muscle: don’t be afraid of it. Muscle/being fit looks good m or f! For girls, especially if you are in sports, leg strength is a huge help in preventing ACL / knee injuries. Start young!!! People at the gym WILL help you, m or f. Everyone there is trying to better themselves. See an excercise you want to try? Be bold and ask the person. You might just be surprised how much help and sef confidence you can gain!

It’ll get easier as you grow up when it comes to other people - I got into health and fitness young around your age or younger and people used to comment or call me obsessed/too thin/crazy/health freak etc. but you’re right that people usually say these things because they feel insecure about their own habits. But as time goes on most of these people especially friends will also try to attain the same lifestyle once they hit their 20s, they then start to understand ❤

People will always have their own opinion. I relate to this. My family always avoids me when I eat good and workout. Once they start seeing my results, idk what happens to them but they like get mad at me or something. All I’m doing is what makes me happy and feel good. I’ve toned up, lost some weight, etc and I felt amazing and looked amazing. Then I started giving up because I felt like I had no one. Now everyone is “my friend and family again.” I’m done. I realized they are toxic and don’t want me getting anywhere because THEY can’t do that for themselves. So they want me to stay in the same boat as them. Nope nope. I can’t anymore. I have a life to live. I need to just be strong when their jealousy kicks in. I’m not the problem, they are. Can’t wait to get results again and show them I don’t care for their opinions. My happiness is important. If they don’t like me being happy because they aren’t happy, then adios to them. I don’t want toxic people.

Oh wow, so refreshing to see such a young and beautiful girl and with so much wisdom, experience and great conclusions on youtube. I'm 37, not that it matters, but I'm really glad that there are such insightful young people that gives very mature tips to the younger audience. I have a 10 y.o., and obviously she wouldn't want to listen to me in couple of years if not starting now)) or other adults who says "It matters what you put in your body and you should care about that to be the best version for yourself, it will serve you best and bring happiness to you", but if she or her friends would come on your or similar channel in the future, that would be amazing. And talking about culture pressure, that is close to me as well, I'm originally from Ukraine, and my family/culture is the similar: "You look better when you put on some weight", or "Why would you workout, that's exhausting and you will be skinny and unhealthy looking", etc. And only with the age and actually moving to US 5 years ago I finally could move away from those stereotypes, but it can be very difficult to deal with it when you are in your younger age surrounded with all those unhealthy lifestyle. Thank you for great tips that also motivative not only for your peers, but for older like myself )) as well. I'm sure you will have an amazing life, you are doing so great already! All the best to you Amelie!

Wow you have learned more at your age and in just 3 years than many ever learn in a lifetime. I'm older than you but when I was in school I was an athlete, so I never gave much thought to fitness. Now, in my adult years I struggle to stick to a routine where I only have myself to hold me accountable. These were great tips and reminders!

Hey amelie, hi everyone:) 3 years is a long time and you made a lot of experiences. Thanks for sharing it. I think it is really important to ask oneself from time to time: What am I doing this for? How much time do I spend thinking about my bodyshape, food choices or training goals? Does it determine my whole life? How strongly is my selfworth linked to these goals? Why do I want to achieve a „perfect version of my appearance“? Parents or close friends know you best and they see you for what you really are. This is why if a loved one expresses his or her concerns about you, you should take it seriously. Im sure most people understand you better than you sometimes think.❤️

Omg, I'm Indian too. Being a teenager and working out and going to gym has so many comments rising. Most of the people are saying that 'you're already so thin why do you want to thin out even more' or things like 'oh are you trying to make us look even more fat by getting thinner'. Many a times my parents friends or friends parents will just give me that look if they happen to see me at the gym as if coming to the gym is some sort of a sin and some of them come right up and start disturbing. I have a small frame but its like a skinny fat structure. I have my own share of fat that i struggle so much with that people don't often see because of my small frame. My mom is supportive and she's the one who got me started, even if it was through negativity . I'm still learning though, I only started working out around 2 weeks back and seeing your videos always help me so much. This was definitely something i needed to see. Your videos are great tysmm :))
