I'm only 37 and expected a whole lot more out of this life of mine! But I have let my parents run my life even untill this day. I wanted to get taller then what I am which is 5'3 sucks being a short man! I wanted to leave my parent's house when I turned 18 never happend! I was born with a weak bladder so when I go to sleep at night and when I have urge to go to the restroom I can't wake up so right in bed I go, and that is really embarrassing so I have never had a girlfriend! So I wake up everyday feeling depressed, lonely, sad, wondering why I even wake up? Sick and tired of being sick and tired of watching other people live life to the fullest! 😥😥😥

Well, at 71 I am nearly at the end of my life .. I have accomplished all of these 10 things because I listened to an old lady when I was very young wishing she had eaten more ice cream. However, at this late stage in life, I wonder what else I should do .. that I could be doing other than enjoying the delicious retirement I earned. Hmm taking it all in and savoring life each day. Maybe something will pop into my head .. we'll see. 🌹

Maybe we have not just spend time together with our parents but make that time more valuable with some new activities,for example the emotions and feelings you would get after watching movies with parents and after playing some sport games will be different. Pardon me,if i made any mistake:) But i hope you got my point.

I think it refers to meaningful time/experiences with family, which cannot be measured in minutes/hours -actual bonding and growth in the journey of life together. As individuals age, the meaningful experiences and time spent with family often decline because of other commitments in life. The family unit has weakened through the ages in society and we have become more individualistic, while our soul yearns for familial/community ties

In my department all of my subordinates are 25 or under while I'm 40. I spoke to them about not working too much as I worked far too much in my twenties and didn't give myself a chance to have a life of which I can't go back and redo. I also make sure I follow through as I all but force them to stay working within their 40 hour window and if the day is a bit slow releasing them early. Can't speak to other people but I want them to be young, have lives, and grow and when they come into work they bust their butts for me. I have my regrets, I now make sure those under me don't have the same ones.

People think of life in black and white terms like doing what's right and what's wrong and this often leads to a funny concept called 'regret'. In reality, life is grey. It is never about what is right or wrong but always about choosing between the greater or lesser evil. And you don't know what you don't know because you can't tell the future, so to regret is kinda silly. Maybe old people regret regretting too much.

Let’s see when you are on your deathbed if you going to say this words. Only people that don’t have youth understand the value of time. You said ‘’Maybe old people regret too much”, darling we will all go through that path, just wait until your time comes then you will regret that you wrote these words, if you will still remember.
@soonny002
@soonny002 5 жыл бұрын
@hofra, Fair point, but moot point. I'm not arguing about how people can and will feel on their deathbed because they can regret all they want. I might succumb to regret too if I was suddenly faced with death now because it is a very human thing to feel. I'm just saying that there is a better and more accurate way to appraise life (and death) which is not in terms of black or white or right or wrong, but in terms of shades of grey. I'm saying this because it is one way to transcend the need for regret, or would you rather regret a hundred things on your deathbed? Socrates for example died without an ounce of regret. I don't know if I'd be able to recreate his experience, but that's something to aspire to. The key is to live life to its fullest now and let what must come, come. The universe will unfold the way it must and to regret is to believe that you could have made a difference is sometimes not be a helpful way to navigate life or death.

This made video made me happy. I'm 37 going on 38 and although I am not married or with kids, I am actually surprised I follow these advise before hand and lived the life I wanted to. The only thing I can't control is the worrying about things. But I got the second language down. I do what I can to look after myself. I do and chase the job I always wanted to do and take time off to stop and smell the roses and I did't settle for someone and I have travelled the world and led an interesting life doing different jobs and experiences. I do feel good about myself now. Thanks.
@gutz1981
@gutz1981 5 жыл бұрын
@Arty Bookworm Small things at a time. Appreciate the little things. Don't expect all at once. Example, I promised myself I would go to the Greek islands before age 30. Age 30 came around and nothing happened as I was in university studying and then I struggled to get a foot into my career choice (Still am) but I eventually did it at 37, even though I was afraid the best of my years were gone, it was great and I did not feel too old to go out and have fun. Try not to get too caught up on the BIG material things. Cars are nothing special unless you can afford to be a collector, so don't worry if you drive a shitbox. Buy a cheap car if you want to (Even new cheap) look after it and it will last long. Enjoy little achievements. I was way over weight and I decided to lose it, it took me two years of slow and steady change of lifestyle, but now I am at the weight I was at 25. The next advice is a more individual type as it does not apply to all. Don't worry about marriage. Unless you found someone special, don't chase after it. If you have no one, then take that extra money and go see the world. If you can, go live in another country for a few months and work there, you might like it and want to live there or you will appreciate your home country more maybe. Hobbies are good as well. Find something you use to like doing as a kid, perhaps video games or certain types of toys and puzzles and keep an eye out and collect any you might find, and if you display them, you will look at them as they grow into a collection. The point is, go small. A lot of small "Experiences" over time adds up to more fond memories, as opposed to waiting or hoping for that big experience to come your way, be it money, or a house or a loved one or kids. When you reach a certain point, all the little stuff will feel you up more when you look back. It does work. But you need patience.

When I was a child I had a lot of existential crisis, maybe a lot younger than most people, I used to look at my fingers and asked myself how did I have this consciousness and how am I here, that thought will be followed by what will happen when I die, that's when I learned a lot of the rules in this video, to live my life fully and never let another take advantage of me, i like to think of myself as a man who likes to experience, but not become an addict.

@@H2daIzzo69. I went medical school more than half a century ago. Medicine has changed out of sight in both the UK, where I trained, and the US where I worked for 40 years. As a bit of a misfit who was reasonably clever, but unambitious, private practice in the US suited me, though such a path will be increasingly difficult as more MDs are becoming employees. So if you ask me would I have chosen medicine knowing what I know, the answer would be yes. On the other hand, a colleague whose son announced he was going to medical school 8 years ago, agreed to pay for it only on condition that he would not seek a career in medical practice, but in research.

A lot of these comments are jokes and not all that serious...however this is such a deep video. At the end of the day, you will regret not doing what you originally planned to do because you were too lazy. I saw a post on Instagram the other day that went like this: when you're young, you have the time and energy... but no money; when you're an adult, you have money and energy... but no time and when you're old, you have the time and money.... But no energy. So please do what you really want to do with the people you really care about. Because at the end of the day, that moment you spent with your parents, friends, or entire family.... that is a moment you will NEVER regret. I can at least guarantee you that. so have fun and enjoy life before it's too late 👌😄

A couple that I know that work with late-stage cancer patients say that one of the top regrets they have is having children. Of course, it’s not something they’d ever admit to their family. The couple has lived their lives childless and they hardly seem to age, have plenty of money, and spend their days traveling.
@willemlambert5019
@willemlambert5019 5 жыл бұрын
IT's very useless to have ANY regret at what you did or didn't do when you leave this earth. All too little and all TOO LATE. For me, I don't have any regrets at all, never had and never will have and all because for one reason : Although I had to make so many choices and decisions in my life, I cannot say that I made a wrong choice somewhere. I don't like people who are not realistic enough and say : I wish I can start over again and know what I know now..... It's NOT how life works. Maybe someday it will be possible to start over again, but knowing what you know now doesn't belong in that picture,... therefore, I can honestly say, I always did what I thought was best at the time I needed to decide. I regret nothing. Many people, whit much more power made decisions for me, which I didn't agree on, but I was powerless, so it's NOT my decision. (Government and other trash that crossed my life). I had to let shit happen.... like many of you, but we are ALL powerless when it comes to that, so what is there to regret ? Sometimes I had wrong options which were NOT what I really wanted (you know the feeling, being between a rock and a hard place) but again, they were the only options, so you HAVE to make a choice whether you like it or not,... not really what YOU want, but it's like that, accept it. STILL you can make the best (negative) choice, it's all up to you. This doesn't mean things always turned out the right way,... no, of course not. Many things went wrong in my life, but that's life. Since you don't live alone, you cannot expect that everybody want exactly the same things as you. You WILL counter some people who want the opposite of what you wanted and maybe they win, so you lose, it's that simple. However, that doesn't mean your decision was wrong,... you did it YOUR WAY,... it didn't turn out your way, but your intention was YOU WAY, so you made the right choice. What is there to regret ? That others wanted something else ? THAT'S not for you to decide, so take it like it comes and DON'T regret nothing,... it's a very useless and negative feeling and there is NO CALL for that. My advice (and I'm 63 now) : ALWAYS do things YOUR WAY, so there IS no regret later....

Can I get your perspective on fear of doing things your way that go against societal norms and may not go the right way but you had the right intentions; specifically what happens if I make a risky career choice and I’m not able to provide for myself to afford health insurance when I’m older… I don’t want to be a burden on someone else if I cant function on my own because I want my family to live their own life’s (I guess this is really a fear of not taking a safe route because of the small % of fear I have that the absolute worst thing could happen… ie me not being able to provide for myself when I’m older and can’t work anymore, which would then put a heavy burden on my family and others to provide for me and that’s not fair bc I got to live my life freely and they would have to pay for my lack of sacrifices.

The day medicine stops working on you is the day your illness is terminal. There is nothing else that can save you. You know, what is alternative medicine that works called? Medicine! Many medicines are 'natural' or 'herbal', they just actually work. Any medicine that is rejected by the scientific community is such because it simply doesn't work. I think no. 5 and 4 are the best advises in this video. Do not worry too much and getting out of my comfort zone. I was a very introverted guy since my teenage years. I get nervous quickly, i feel uncomfortable around many people, i always think that each and everyone are watching me waiting for me to have mistakes which gave me a very low self esteem. Until I decided to do no. 5 and no. 4. I trained myself to be relaxed as much as I can and faced my fears to face reality and life! Guess what? I am thanking my old self for doing that. Now I am living a good life as much as I can. Even if it is only no. 5 and 4 that you will be able to do, trust me, your future self will thank your old self for doing so. We can do this!. 😁

One regret I have is that I was neither religious nor ethical as a younger man. It would have solved so many of my problems and eliminated so many of my regrets today. It's hard to right the wrongs you've done when you are in the last years of your life. Cruel and inconsiderate acts will come back to you when you get old. You won't forget them, because your memory will be prompted by witnessing similar events and recalling connected memories. And if that doesn't bring them back, your dreams will!

Most people want to do what they see others do. No one is original because most of us is under the same pressure. Just live your life the way you really want and not what others have done. Stay true to yourself and don't chance for anyone.

I've noticed that so many people, well into their sunset years, begin whining about all the mistakes they made in life as well as obsessing over those relationships where someone took advantage of them or was outright abusive. I see that as Loser's Boulevard. Yes, you can look back for a moment to learn something from the experience. But looking back seems to be the pathway to being bitter, sad, angry or mad. I find it much better to simply charge into the future. To set and achieve goals. To learn from the past and to use those lessions to reshape and design the future I deserve. Who cares about the past? Nostalgia is for losers who have no dreams, no goals, no ambitions. Maybe, the real lesson here is to keep setting personal goals for yourself and charging toward something that you want to experience, to learn or to accomplish rather than to sit around, as if you have nothing better to do, and reminisce of the past and begin to regret so many things.

Sometimes nostalgia is not something u can gain in the future, like a friend who past away or a place in time u felt very happy, nostalgia is not for losers, u cant charge into the future to gain something that's already lost in time, that's why we reminisce

In watching this video, I feel more grateful. Living life isn't about whether or not we bungee jumped, visited the Caribbean, or had a nice house. I live in a small apartment, but have played in a band, fought in the Golden Gloves, donated my time as a prison minister, and helped various family members in a way others could not. Thank you to the makers of this video

I’m 28 and full of regret already, but I refuse to accept “it’s too late, time to be responsible and boring and start a family.” I’ve always had social anxiety, and always found it difficult to talk about my feelings (especially considering how easy it’s been to give me self-doubt and make me feel like “the REAL bad guy” just for simply being sad...) So this held me back. At 23 I finally “found myself” and became something...but got into a relationship and...she took all my friends, motivation, optimism, confidence, everything away from me Only friends I had left over said “life isn’t about fun, life is about hard work and marriage! You’re too late to have childish fun! You need to grow up, find a wife and have kids NOW! Stop trying to have fun!” ....sadly I internalized this for a while .....but now I’ve cut them out of my life and I’m a lot happier I’m still stressed out about what my less-than-Human ex did, and what the shitty friends she “approved of” did, but I’m on a better track now

@@Champagnep4kki Appreciate it! But honestly I'm not ready for a committed relationship - I'm too scared I'll have to give up opportunities for her. Even if she's trusting and loyal and doesn't control me, I'm still not ready to plan traveling the world, going to anime conventions, getting jobs in other states, etc all around "well, will she be okay with that? I'll have to bring her with me as well" Right now, I'm just living life and doing the things I enjoy Though I do appreciate your kind words!
