MissOrchidGirl is one of the very best instructional videos I have ever seen! MOG has a beautiful voice, explains things thoroughly and simply, AND only shows what needs to be seen. In other words, the visuals are very pertinent to the content. If you love orchids and maybe want to care for them in your home, MissOrchidGirl is the lady to see (and hear)!

I've learned so much from you in the last 48 hours that I wish I knew 15 years ago. I've been discovering issues with mine that I had no clue how to fix but with watching your videos, you've helped me gain some wisdom about my two suffering Phals. Now I'll go dust mine with a lightly damp paper towel. :)

Thank you so much for these tutorials ! 10 months ago, someone gave me a beautiful orchid and it bloomed and put on even more blooms until 1 month ago when one by one , blossoms became withered and I did pull them off . I love this plant so lucky for me , I found your videos ! I've learned that my initial thoughts about the plant resting were correct . Also , I'm glad to learn that my flushing the plant was a right thing to do - this was something that I really didn't know was right but it seemed a good thing to do in the moment ! I guess I'm channeling my Dad , who was a very successful husbandryman of crops and animals ! " Thanks Dad ! " I cringe at cutting off the last blossom srems but I'll do it now as you have advised . My orchid is growing another large , healthy leaf so I think that we are okay ! Orchids have a way of climbing into one's soul ! I'm a new Widow with no family whatsoever except for my beloved Border Collie and now my Orchid ! ::))) In grateful thanks , Carol E ! :))

Comes right in time! Purchased two new phals yesterday. I got myself a phalaenopsis gigantea and a phalaenopsis javanica. And I decided to pot my Vandas with chunky bark in a airy transparent pot. Those ones with the extra holes. And they hang on bows of my curtain.

Hi there, I have learnt so much from your videos! One of my orchids is a Phalaenopsis. A few days ago I noticed some of the roots rotting and developing a mould. I removed them with a sterelized scissor but now I have noticed that the stem is becoming black, any advice?

i have to ask Dannni. with roots like the orchid you lift up when you talk about air for the roots(3:30). what would you do if you had to repot it? cut the roots or break open the pot?
@yellowishgreendragon.-.4 жыл бұрын
My orchid was doing really well but after some root loss it has almost no roots. it just lost two of it's 3 remaining leaves. The base of two of the lost leaves have black spots. Is there anything I can do to save it?. It was my first orchid and I've had it for 12 years. It's a phalaenopsis type.

Hello Missorchid, i'm from Montreal, Canada and i started a passion for orchids 8 months ago. I gave them names 😊 and also i keep a book so i can keep up with they're evolution on a daily basis. Has i was searching on the internet how to care for orchids since i'm fairly new at it I came across your channel and I learned everything I know from your knowledge and was able to succeed "for the most part" at growing orchids. Now i cannot stop buying them and number 8 is a week old. My question is: all my orchids are in bark but the pots are plastic with drainage holes at the bottom. Should i poke holes around the pot to give the roots more air? Thank you and keep up the good work! You're orchids are gorgeous and i just love this channel! 👍By the way my orchids are Phal.
@rembai44 жыл бұрын
Its recommended but not a must. The holes around the pots are meant to provides more air but bark is airly enough. I'm less than a year in as well and learnt everything from the internet, miss o.g and others. One tip tho, don't buy so many at once in the beggining, collect them with time as you will more beautiful one yet you have so many. Also try look for internet growers in your area. Their advice will be more relevant and applicable to you.

Hi. Just wondering how much light does the orchid need? I live in the basement unit and I recently (about 10 days ago) bought an orchid. I noticed the flowers are starting to go and one of the new leaves at the center is starting to turn yellow. Would you be able to tell me what might have gone wrong and provide a solution? If it is the light, I do have grow lights and can I use it on the orchid? Thank you.

I just saved a Phalaenopsis from the grocery store! I repotted it the next day, it had sphagnum moss packed super tightly in the soft plastic pot. She’s now happily repotted in orchid mix! She has fantastic air roots, but I think that’s because she was being suffocated in her pot.

I have a beautiful phalaenopsis which has been in bloom for about two months now. Suddenly, three days ago, all seven of the blooms wilted. I've repotted it but now it's even worse! All the roots look dehydrated and withered. I cut the worst off. The plant is about three years old. Why do you think that the blooms all withered together? The leaves do not look dehydrated. Please advise!!
