I love going into a random dungeon or encounter, looting something that looks interesting, then a few hours later I just talk to some random person who sends me to find something. But then it turns out I had already picked it up without realizing it's importance. Such an amazing feeling. Not only do you effectly complete a quest accidentally, but it also makes the world feel lived in.

I love the Kiera Metz main quest in the Witcher 3 just because there’s sooo many secret rooms covered by illusions or through passages not related to the main quest. The Witcher 3 really does the secret rooms so good throughout the whole game and they usually add an extra bit of story connected to the quest too

When AWW YEAH turns into AWW NO: getting a loot shower and being one or two inventory slots shy of taking all of it, especially if it's all loot that is equally powerful but has different buffs or debuffs. You then spend the next several minutes (hours?) agonizing over which ones to leave behind, knowing all the while that whatever choice you make is going to be the wrong one, because leaving loot behind is ALWAYS the wrong answer. 😭

You're giving me Zelda: Breath of the Wild flashbacks. Oh! Cool weapon! Wait! I still have all these really good ones that I'm saving for a special occasion. I guess that occasion was to drop one of them on the floor. The weird part being that it's basically complaining that your wallet has too much money in it, yet it feels so justified.

Fighting a boss you struggled against before but you defeat almost flawlessly when you come back to the game. Possibly my best memory as a gamer is making my second run on DkS and beating Ornstein and Smough first attempt. Also, similar to the loot explosion: Getting one specific loot that you know is extremely rare and difficult to obtain. I personally hate farming for loot, but if one credit can be given to this concept, it's that, finally finding the item you spent hours to farm for feels incredible.

I think it’s kind of a mix to pokemon evolution and getting overpowered over the course of the game. Just like for an evolution, you first need to put in the work to upgrade (or even just make) your equipment, but once you leveled the skill enough, gathered the materials, the recipe and whatever you need and finally get to see and equip it, the entire work feels worth it (if the game did it well). And then you use your new equipment and realize, how much stronger it is, it feels even more rewarding. Also the fact that, what you just created in the tiny forge of some drunk blacksmith in a completely irrelevant village, is able to outclass the legendary stuff made by a mythical blacksmith on a high emperors court helps with the feeling of success.

Although I understand difficulty scaling, I don't nessisarily think it should scale as fast as you do. The awesomeness that comes from rpgs is that although there might not be a difficulty setting, you are able to choose how easy a game will be by practicing and boosting stats. If a game always scales with you then it makes you feel like nothing you do ever matters or gets you ahead

Personally, one of the best things about rpg's to me is getting weapons/skills the you know about and want to try out for yourself. Getting those always makes me feel as if I am actually in the game, not just playing it. For instance, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 and 2. All the skills and clothes they have have been in either the show or one of the various movies. And getting them just makes you feel a sense of accomplishment.

Then you just feel a little bit better even more when people later on like discord or other forms are whining about how hard it is. It's just my smirking 😏 meanness inside that I grinded and got it easily versus the whiners.

For me, it feels very satisfying in (a)RPG games where you go from smacking crabs with your staff to becoming literal demi-god at the endgame. In some tactical strategy such as X-Com, it feels very satisfying when you have ranked squad and pull perfect mission where no one gets injured. For 4x games, it's kinda total military and economic domination of the map, etc, etc. and then we have Rimworld, where everything you do just feels so satisfying.

Dodging a combo is awesome, but parrying one is even more amazing. Reminds me of the legendary evo moment 37 (though this one's a fighting game)

You can't beat that one time in the late 1990's when your starter evolved for the first time! I had a vague idea of what the evolved forms were, but I did not have the CW channel at the time. That blew my mine.

I gotta say another satisfying thing, like with the level up, is when you're really deep into a dungeon low health, low mana, running out of recovery items and man you just really gotta go to the bathroom as well and you finally find that save point/safe room. It's happened to me a lot in Persona 5

Critical hits really got to me when I started building crit on warframe for weapons that have high crit rate like the synapse. It's a drug to see not only the red numbers but the high increased damage. That game truly allows you to build exactly the way you want and it just fills me with incredible dopamine.

Best part about number 4 is when it happens in an online game that let's you do this specifically an experience of mine when I was close to dying in a dungeon in SWTOR someone I don't know who in the party killed an enemy and that made me level up restoring my health from 4 percent too 100 in the blink of an eye... I have NEVER felt so satisfied after beating a dungeon and so happy then having that happen to me.

I love getting critical hits in monster hunter with my light bow gun with pierce ammo. I absolutely love the click click click sounds. It's so satisfying. Especially with maxed out affinity in my nargacuga armor and bowgun.

Its less a specific moment but more just a "vibe" if you will, when you get "in the zone" with some fights. Its a mix of crits and dodging, but there are some times you just sorta get in a fight, and realize that you are absolutely crushing it, without a huge power difference or anything. Especially when you're just sorta brain off, you *know* you got this and don't need to really think, just act. I've been playing Ultrakill and while its an FPS and not so much an RPG, when you've got enemies attack patterns to a T and have full control of the fight, its just. MM.

For the finding secret wall/passage section. When playing Final Fantasy 3/6 on the SNES, now and then you would enter a room at a dead end. And, if you looked around at the black edges around the room, every now and then you'd see a barely perceptible gray line, just a tiny bit lighter then the normal black, and these were secret corridors leading to secret rooms with treasure chests in them.
