As a German, I am so embarrassed for some of the people responsible for Germany's Eurovision entry. I truly believe that there are some people working there who actually care about Eurovision. But some others simply have no idea what they are talking about, and it seems like they are the ones giving the orders. It hurts 🥲

That is certainly the case. Alex Wolfslast, Germany's head of delegation in the last years, repeatedly said she would like to have an internal selection, but the decision-makers wouldn't want that. The decision not to allow EC in 2022 and to leave the decision about this to radio people was also not her idea. She said at the time that she voted to allow EC taking part. But she couldn't overrule the radio people.

Regarding Germany and the collaboration with Stefan and RTL on ESC Kompakt someone commented that he had the interview this headline is made of in person and there was only one question about ESC. It's apparently not that it would end if they don't win, but that it wouldn't exist if their goal wasn't to win. It just got twisted around for the headline. Remembering that higher ups in the past publicly said that winning was not the goal...

Ohhhh that’s super cool that fan media has been recategorised and renamed as ESC focused media - it sounds more respected and hopefully taken more seriously. After all Eurovision focused media people are obviously gonna be more well-versed in the contest than whatever general news reporter from a national news site! I’m still very skeptical of the EBU on how they’ll affect positive change overall, but them hosting media workshops to I guess help people get up to industry standard with their work is an important stepping stone that can help people build their careers in this field, and I can appreciate them for that :)

(Canadian Here 🙂) I think you are underestimating Céline Dion's recovery. She is doing MUCH better and has been making public appearances (albeit not specifically singing ones) but she is already planning a return to Las Vegas for a residency. I do believe there's every chance she would WANT to come back to Eurovision this year, specifically BECAUSE it's where she got her start, and what better place to stage an incredible comeback than to make a surprise appearance 37 years after her win, to show the world that she is back! To me, it's like: Stage 1: Olympics; Stage 2: Eurovision 2025; Stage 3: Las Vegas Residency announcement. It could go either way, of course, but I really think we should sit on it and see what happens. Also, as an aside, I really hope Senhit sends her song "Dangerous" for the San Marinese National Final this year to represent San Marino for a fourth time. It's a bop and it's been stuck in my head for months now lol. I also really am looking forward to Mans' song for Sweden and I do hope we'll see him back representing them this year! He's very charismatic on stage, we know he can sing and put on a great show, and it's the perfect opportunity for him to re-ignite his career regardless of his placing in the final.

I understand where you’re coming from with Måns, but something you have to understand is that Måns is EXTREMELY popular and beloved in Sweden, despite people not streaming his non-mello music a lot. More so than Loreeen. Unless his song is a ballad (and it’s not, it’s an upbeat arena pop song) it’s very likely that he’ll win.

It had tension rising, great dynamics, great melody, a great singer, a good message, power and it's just so fun to sing and dance to it. 2) It was a song. The dance break was part of it. It wasn't any worse than the other pop songs in that year. I do like it. And it is an ok song. But in 2010, I wished it so many other contestants much more. I didn't understand the hype everyone else around me had about our song. When the contest ended and I made my annual CD about it, I put Germany last. Not because I don't like it, but because I want people to listen to the great songs the 2010 contest had to offer (it was probably my favourite contest ever). Like Turkey, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia and many more were so much better and we were... generic.

As a Swede I don’t really think Måns will win either. He’s the most betted winner rn just for names. We should also remember John Ludvik is also competing this year, and I think he’s got just as big/low of a chance winning again as Måns. If he DOES win again then I’m just gonna be really disappointed. A lot of us Swedes have started complaining in recent years of how Melfest basically is an elite singer contest, and people win based on names alone. But I don’t know.
