👇 ABOUT ME:
Hey! I'm Damian Keyes and I've worked with musicians every day of my life for the past 20 years. The internet is deeply untrusting understandably and here is my background so you can have the full picture.
When I was 18, I was signed to a major label (dropped 6 months later) and at 23 I co-founded a Music University in Europe called BIMM (valued at $300M). I’m also a bass player, I’ve played for a number of artists including Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette and Billy Cobham. I initially retired at 30, but realised that life gets boring if you’re not building!
I have always been in-between the music industry and education which is how I ended up building my KZbin channel - I’ve been teaching artists how to release music long before it was a ‘niche’! I now educate artists around the world with my Academy, KZbin channel and I work directly with labels internationally alongside owning a live agency and management company.
It’s great to meet you and looking forward to working together on your music!

Hi Damian, from the few videos I've seen so far I feel your key message is to take responsibility for your own action or lack of action. If you want to improve than it's your responsibility to take action and not wait for someone else to do this for you. This is wonderful advice and a key learning that I can apply to everything I do. Thank you very much mate and keep up the great work.

When I network, I talk to the important person like a human being and have a casual conversation with them. I also offer them something to help them before ever asking for anything of myself. A lot of times, we connect and I don't have to ask anything of them in order for us to benefit from each other.

Thanks so much. I have been doing this a few decades but you have definitely helped me realise my low moments were mostly my doing. It is really helpful for a lot of us creatives who live in our own heads and fantasy worlds; and who battle with social situations. I now think we have to view the entire thing as a show and strategise within that paradigm to get by. For me, being authentic on stage is the normal part and pays off; however being oneself mingling in an event is not always ideal-when one is emotional, ones intellect definitely drops, and I feel that many opportunities are missed because of this. Giving off intense vibes and wearing ones heart on ones sleeve comes across as weird and unstable, whether that is true or not, it is off putting to business minded people who could be of great benefit to ones career.

So much awesome stuff here but #8 all the way Damian! I invested in a handful of cheap lights and sequence them with my live rig. No other band I’ve seen (other than larger bands of course) do this and it literally cost me less than $300 for a killer light show.

Hey Damien - really love your videos and great advice here, thank you for that!! But just FYI, it's not the mid freqs that cut through in the vocals, it is high/mid-high. Also the reason why you need to sing closer to the mic is not frequency-related, it is simply more sound from the voice and less of the rest (drums, guitar amps, but also feedback). And actually singing close to the mic creates bass-buildup which is super muddy, but a good sound engineer will know how to remove that ;) So in conclusion: * if you play loud/rock/heavy, sing kissing the mic, and let the engineer remove the bass buildup * if you play quiet acoustic music, you will actually get better sound by singing 2 inches away from the mic

We're working on this too. The idea is to sync the lights with the drummer's click track etc. However, it seems a bit complicated as we're not experienced in lighting. Could you please elaborate on your solution?

On another note we are working hard to build oir social media sites on Facebook and Instagram and your guidance has helped tremendously so thanks again!
