I only consider 2 things. 1) does it fit with classic pirates of castle? 2) can I afford it?.... Normally that's all I need to pick it up, limiting my interest in themes really helps. The only time I struggled was with the new castle as the cost was insane but my wife picked it up for me (she knew I wanted it but couldn't justify the cost).
