Theo is truly adorable and with sweet and very even mood. Many dog owners don’t realize that many dog products(beds, waste bags, etc) are tainted with artificial fragrances that dog spreads all over, endangering health and life of self and owners. Its residue lasts for very very long time due to petrochemicals (NEUROTOXIC) Sometimes after being tainted, they can not be detoxed and just have to be disposed (Washing will not help but only ruin the Athenian washer and dryer) Vets don’t know to warn that due to fragrances Dogs vanish from liver damage years sooner and ppl get environmental illnesses including infertility, cancers, autism, dementia, asthma, and birth defects for generations to come due to genetic changes of hormone disrupters MAKE THE VIDEO TO EDUCATE PPL (and there is a must to see documentary on the subject STINK! on KZbin).

We just got a golden doodle a couple of days ago. We have looked up how we are supposed to treat them and train them so we can have a good relationship with the dog. We have heard from many sources to put them in a crate when they sleep, but are finding it difficult because he whines and barks most of the night. We are worried we aren't doing something right! Any tips on this?
@imtheobear10 ай бұрын
Absolutely a reasonable question! For context, we crated theo as well in the beginning but realized after a week (and similar experience with the barking and whining) that it will be very rare that he will be crated at home or elsewhere (I work from home and always have someone home). So because our lifestyle allowed it and he behaved well by himself without being crated for times when we left him home for a few hours to do errands we decided to stop crating him. It all depends on your lifestyle, what you and your family want to do, and the behavior of your pup overall (it'll be harder in the beginning). For us, we didn't want to change so much of our lifestyle, esp if we know he didn't like it - like putting him in a crate every night, putting him in a crate in the car, etc. He just tags along with us wherever we go - like another human (he is one of us). TLDR: Do what works with you. We didn't end up crating because it didn't fit into our lifestyle AND theo was well behaved enough. Some occasional mistakes happened in the beginning but overall, it's been awesome. Hopefully that answers your question!
@cameronwilliams307410 ай бұрын
@@imtheobear Yes this answers my question. But if we didn't crate him, we are worried about accidents that may occur. What did you do or what do you recommend doing if we decide not to do the crate?
@imtheobear10 ай бұрын
@@cameronwilliams3074 And it (accidents) will happen more often - in the beginning. A few things that helped us: 1. Introduce rooms/part of the house one at a time. Dogs don't like to pee/poop in areas that they think are their living space. Play with them there and give them treats often. Once they feel confident that its their space then open up another room and do it all over again until you're done. If you don't have doors blocking rooms you can always use a gate. 2. Set a predictable schedule. Take them out in a set timeframe. If they are having accidents more often then take them out more. Take them out to pee/poop before you leave them alone. They can't have accidents if they have no pee/poop in them. 3. Play with them before you go. Go on a walk, run, and/or play fetch/tug of war. They'll be more calm when they are more tired. 4. Leave them in small increments of time to start. This allows them to get use to you not being there but knowing you will come back. Don't be overly excited when you come back so they know its not a big deal. 5. Put your shirt on their bed. One tip i got from a friend was to put a shirt i wore during sleep on their bed/somewhere they'll most likely be at when they're home alone and simply by having your smell around them will calm them down (usually). 6. Get a smart camera. Leaving my dogs alone also gives me some anxiety sometimes so whenever i do i set up a 360 camera so i can keep an eye on him when i'm gone. It helps calm your nerves and also gives you a chance to see what they do while you're out. Hope that helps!
@imtheobear10 ай бұрын
@@cameronwilliams3074 They will occur in the beginning. Have the deodorizing/cleaning spray ready, put pee pads around the house, and take your dog out before leaving them home alone or before you head to bed. In the beginning, I would rec doing your best to take them out every 6 hours minimum to get comfortable.

Hi im thinking of getting one. How are you getting on?
@rubythegoldendoodle74563 жыл бұрын
@@mattsidebottom7603 so it’s been 7 months and here’s what I have to say: In the beginning, puppies are literal newborn babies. You will have to get up in the middle of the night for a couple times during the first week or two (all puppies are different). You’ll have to watch their every move so when you can’t watch them because you’re doing work or something , it’ll be good to get a playpen and put some toys and blanket in there. Another thing, in order to potty train them you need to take the puppy out every hour or so. Other than those challenges, our little puppy has grown and she’s such a joy to have in our family. The beginning is no paradise and it’s definitely hard so you gotta be committed. But after the first month it’s smooth sailing. Let me know if you end up getting one!

@imtheobear6 ай бұрын
That's totally normal for a puppy! They're still figuring out what is right and wrong. For Theo, he would have frequent zoomies and had a bad case of teething - would chew up shoes, walls, etc. My tip is to be strict on not rewarding those behaviors and being strict with them. What we did was we did have to raise our voice/have a deeper tone, put them in time out in a separate room, spray bitter apple in areas he chewed. For hyper pups, they just have energy they don't know where to spend it. We did 2 things; brought them outside to parks/open fields to play fetch and run around (hikes and tug of war are also good too) AND get them to play games (i.e. wrap treats in a towel). Build that habit and they'll be sound asleep at night and less chaotic. Puppy blues are reel and from my experience, it does get better. You got this!

@@debbieannisaacs2778 hi debbie! hope potty training hasn't been too bad! They'll have accidents and that's okay. If you haven't already, make sure to buy some pet clean up spray - there are ones for carpet and tile/wood floors that work like a charm. Theo goes out twice a day to go pee/poop. My best advice (I'm sure you know already) is to do your best to keep on a schedule. Having a pee pad in the house somewhere so they have a place to pee/poop urgently is smart AND tieing a rope with bells on your door is helpful too so your pup can tell you when he wants to go out to potty :)
@debbieannisaacs27784 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your advice, I guess the mistake I made was to only take him outside for a wee and a poop and as a result he is not taking the puppy pads seriously and from time to time he will have an accident in the house. However we have made positive progress. Just wanted to ask if you ever had the experience of Theo eating/playing with his poop, I am having this problem with Lion and it makes me so sad 😞. I have to constantly watch and as soon as he poop I have to move him away. I do not know what to do, please help, any advice.
@imtheobear4 жыл бұрын
@@debbieannisaacs2778 puppies playing with their poop is normal and it generally goes away as they get older. They're simply curious. What we did was that whenever he tried playing with his poop, we'll say no in a very deep-toned voice so he knew it was wrong and sometimes just simply have a toy handy to make that more interesting. Same if Lion plays with his pee pad too. If I remember correctly, the stopped playing with his poop (or tried to) when he hit 3.5-4 months. I know sometimes he'll still poop outside and then immediately try to smell it. I usually just say "no!" harshly so he walks away from it knowing it's not a good thing to do. I know being hard/yelling at Lion is tough but you have to do it! Basically have 2 vocal tones; a super high pinch voice for times he is doing good things and super low and angry voice when he's doing something bad like eating/playing with his own poop. Hope that helps!! Let me know if you have any other questions :) i know it is a bit frustrating right now but i promise it'll get better!

I have a friend staying with me who has a 13 week old golden doodle. He’s SO misbehaved! Will not pad train, pees on my area rugs, barks, whines without constant attention. His kibble was changed weeks ago, per the vet’s instructions, because of diarrhea. Now he has random bouts of diarrhea, despite having nothing besides his usual kibble and water. (I know that’s not his fault.) But he won’t let us know he needs to go potty, just does it wherever he is. Bites everything and everyone, despite having plenty of toys, including teething toys. He chews up random things - can’t be trusted with anything. He’s so hyper - jumps and scratches and bites…so I’m not very fond of playing with him. He’s fairly crate trained. Still has some accidents and whining. My friend takes him everywhere, so he’s good in vehicles and around noise. He even strapped pup to himself and took him on his motorcycle (which I wasn’t happy about.) And he’s been socialized around other dogs. He’s seen my three cats, but they won’t let him get close. They are constantly stressed and hiding, which isn’t fair to them. 😿 He’s really upsetting them, which upsets me. They won’t come out unless he’s not here or in his crate covered with a blanket (which is the only way to keep him from barking.) I had a boarder collie/shih tzu mix who was much, MUCH easier to train, and the cats loved him. They would sleep with him and make biscuits on his fur. Sadly, he passed a few years ago. 🐾🥺 My house is a three bedroom, and I have lived alone for years. My adult son still has his room to stay in when he visits, and my third bedroom is my office/workout room/junk room. So we’re kind of in tight quarters. I’ve made the rule that pup is not allowed in my room so the cats feel like they have a safe space. (But my friend still bathes him in my en suite bathroom, against my wishes.) Sometimes we put him in my sunroom, but he pees and poops all over, ignoring his puppy pads. This doodle is SO stressful. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears! 🐶

May I ask where did you find the mat under his pee pad? I'm looking for that for our Domino's play pen but have no idea what it's called to search. 🤦🏾♀️
@GalaxyAly4 жыл бұрын
If I’m thinking right, it’s a PVC mat/foam.
@imtheobear4 жыл бұрын
Alexandria is correct! I just went to the dollar store and taped 2 pieces of them together. Foam mats are cheap, prevents leakage from the pee pad, and easy to clean.

He looks f1b. May I ask why u chose f1b over f1? I am working with a breeder now and I am trying to decide which route to go with and I’m having a hard time picking between f1 and f1b. Thank you Sir.

Hand feed all kibble. don't use treats unless its for a high value reward. its also good to give in moderation. you train them not to beg. I use steak and hot dogs as high value rewards, and chicken for upset stomach

@@dawndrew8313 hi I’m a dog trainer. It’s totally fine to use steak as high value treats. Same with hot dogs, and all vets say to do boiled chicken and rice for upset stomachs as well as canned pumpkin

I am hoping to get a new puppy soon, i have had allergies in the past with huskies and am waiting to get tested for dogs, ive been really badly wanting a golden retriever and if the allergies turn out to be true i will end up getting a goldendoodle. Is it possible to get it to look alot more like a golden retriever
@nickbauman77532 жыл бұрын
If you get one with hair more like a retriever they say it's less hypoallergenic.

Maybe get around a Standard Poodle. I am also allergic to dogs, but I am getting a Standard Poodle this March. They are Hypoallergenic. Goldendoodles are often not actually hypoallergenic, even though they are advertised to be so. Anyway, I didn't have any bad reactions at all to my poodle when I went to see him so maybe that's something you can explore! Sorry you weren't able to get your pup.

Human food is way healthier for them. Look into raw diet for dogs. Kibbles can cause lots of health problems in the future. They also need raw meat/bones. I would buy some natural chew bones instead of silicone ones. Antlers are great for them.
@imtheobear4 жыл бұрын
he loves his antlers for sure! 10000% agree.

All good ideas except the Crate training. Crate training is good but not for locking them up when humans are away.
