Depends on what you mean by affordable. I would consider the DJI Mini 3 affordable and it's a great drone for the money.

if you are providing an aerial service for a productions, being able to offer wide to long lens is a must.. having great village link.. total post prod controls via 8K.. and consistent / adjustibile shot repeatability for each "take" is a major must... good luck

Shooting 24 or 30 fps while panning simply does not work. I don't know why people do this, the jittering is very noticeable. Should shoot 60 fps unless you are moving very slowly

When using this drone, my shots are either too dark or to bright with everything looking ok but the sky completely blown out and over exposed. Do you have a method that gives you a good balance on your shots? Should I rely on autofocus? Maybe my ND filters are not good enough?

It's likely due to the position of your drone. Drone camera position is really important or you will have blown out sky just as you would capturing from the ground. I usually shoot +1.0 over exposed in DLOG and often have to bring up exposure in shadow areas in post.

Thank you for your thoughts. 99% of your concerns were the same for the I2 which we fly professionally since 8 years. The I3 is a big step up in some points, but the production target is still the same and I would suggest to use it only in a pilot operator setup in most conditions. Most countries also request that the pilot has his eyes always on the drone. For many the quality of the X7 is still more then what they actually need. So getting a used I2 with X7 might be the better option for some. Especially as you should never do a job without a backup drone. So you need 2 anyway to do good/big jobs. The controller of the I3 is a ergonomically a big step down and disapointing compared to the I2 and Cendence controllers. Hopefully DJI will offer a more professional controller for the I3 pilot soon. The position is just very awkward for the professional pilot. It works decently for the cam op tho. Its also not possible for the pilot to start recording in a pilot operator setup. Nothing big, but sometimes its good to lay the option in both rc's. Its also worth mentioning that still pictures are much bettern than on the I2. The I2 stills had a quality similar to the P4P. Sadly its still not possible to pull iris smoothly. After all the lenses are a photographic design. DJI should have thought about this too so it could also replace larger setups with external iris and focus control. After all the I3 is a great product and also cheaper than the I2 setup was back on its release.

The I3 is cheaper than the I2 setup was on its release? Even when you factor in the cost of inflation, I don't see this being remotely close. Even the TB-51 batteries are almost double the cost.

The mavic I find is poor in the wind, although great shots so going out over the ocean I use my i2 with long range gear, and yes the i3 is definatley a production platform, Im just waiting now for the consumer pro version with maybe the X6. I think they know the're missing out in that maket and will hopfully release a version that would be for me, even if it had the mavic controler or somthing that I could use my Tripltek Pro 9 on.
