How do you decide what’s being “too frugal”. Like for women doing hair and nails, eyelashes is very expensive or even guys with getting haircut and braids, how often you do it etc? And with work do you see networking - paying to go out for drinks/ lunch with colleagues as an investment or expense to cut down?

@@danielsquires2844Good question. Mary does her hair once a month and most of the time, she does it herself. So for example, the hairstyle in this video she did herself. Once in a while, she goes to a salon if it's a complex thing. Nails - once a month. Around £22. Ken - I cut twice a month. £15 each time. I think this is a personal thing. Some see these as part of what gives them joy and that's fine. I certainly enjoy the banter at my barbershop etc. Networking is important but could also be done cost effectively.

My kids and I get ideas of dishes ,toys etc on KZbin and we have fun creating these at home. And we go to shops see the prices we've saved and hi five ourselves. I made it a priority to ingrain it in my kids not to judge themselves or others based on material things or holidays I opt for edutainment which are generally more affordable. We've gone to farms , gone on walks , gone sightseeing, camping etc. I emphasize meaningful connections rather than bragging rights. They do have some expensive stuff like a piano but they have to have wanted it for upwards of 3 months and have a plan for it. In my home ,it's a rule to write an application letter to me on why you want something and they have to make a sales pitch 😅. My 7 year old does this too. Then if you still want it months later we get it. We even discuss how to address their mates who try to make them feel down for not going to see overpriced movies, theme parks or have the popular school bags or lunch bags etc The earlier they learn not to bow to societal pressure the better for them You may want to check out the TIP academy.

I think good sized portion of a decent meal I have batched cooked and a snack such as a piece of fruit could cost me less then 3 pounds, it does require effort and always being on top of things. Id say the expensive drinks can be the best part of a meal deal. I save meal deals for when I am traveling home from a trip and I haven't had time to make something or haven't had access to a kitchen

It depends what you're eating! My husband is the only one who takes in lunch and coffee in a flask in his office, and he is often baffled by this! Most days he's taking in sandwiches, fruit and crisps - plenty enough to get him through till dinner, he choses these items for ease of transport and incase he can't refrigerate at location. That's a loaf of bread, butter, the fillings (we mostly use cheese) a multibag of crisps and the fruit/veg items for the week. Sometimes we have left overs which transport well, so he'll take them in. That's £3-5 per week rather than day easily. Also he's drinking water through the day, so is not spending ghastly amounts on drinks which are usually packed full of sugars anyway.

Great video and thanks for sharing! I just signed a 3 year car lease split with my partner via an EV salary sacrifice scheme through work. It works out to be approx. 200 quid a month each, and its tax efficient. So we thought why not. Also just bit the bullet on 2x new iPhones and watches for both myself and partner. I think its important to have a balance and enjoy your money. I found that I was saving way too much for my future self, and not actually living for today. Remember to live a little, as well as save. Money is a means to get wealth, this is true, but it is also there to be spent today! Finding that balance can be somewhat difficult.

Hi, I have a few questions about this video and other regular payments or lifestyle changes. 1-What about changing job to work abroad for a lower salary is it wise if the cost of living is less? What about taking on a life coach? They boast to change life habits and mindset. What about taking on a PT to lose weight and get fit? 2-What about subscriptions to keep your computer working e.g. I-Cloud, Apple cloud? 3-What about the charity donations? They knock on your door for worthy causes. 4- What about paying anything monthly e.g. Audible is cheaper to buy years or six monthly. 5-What about insurance of kitchen appliances, all the appliances are insured separately at home? Is there a better alternative? 6- Could you both do this economic lifestyle without being in a partnership with each other? Thanks.

Bought my iPhone7 in 2017, have no intention of replacing it until it literally dies, and then I will cry, as I absolutely hate spending money on tech (and I think your point about phones could be widened to tech in general). My monthly membership allows me to swim outside all year round in the beautiful Suffolk countryside and I now swim for 6 hours a week, it has improved my mental well-being as much as my physical. My weakness is I do like a nice car, but instead of upgrading my 9 year old car this year, (which I own outright) I’ve put solar panels on my roof instead. This week my energy bill was under £4. I do use 0% credit if it is available but only buy something if I could actually pay for it in cash. I don’t commit to more 0% credit than I have cash to pay off all in one go if I needed to.

I honestly think coffee and cake or Nandos is a perfectly reasonable first date if the goal is to get to know someone rather than to have a pleasant dining experience. I think that most people don't actually feel comfortable in expensive restaurants anyway and would rather go somewhere where both parties can just be themselves. Also, people should avoid portraying more wealth than is their reality because they're setting a standard for the kind of dates their partner starts to expect.
