I'm a chef with 35 years experience and i 100% agree that the standard of cooking in Oz is deplorable. I live aboard a yacht so travel the coast and have given up eating out. Unless it's a local Chinese with faded menu. They are usually awesome.

It’s such a shame to go out and have that feeling that you have wasted your money. Oh wow that sounds like a pretty awesome lifestyle. 😂 I hade to look up what this was and you are 100% right I have never thought about that. That’s made my day mate. Cheers

Thank you for the awesome tips. Many of them we agree on also. Less is better. And also agree it is not worth going out for meals. Many are so so disappointing. and overpriced. Although we do like supporting country towns.
@chasingdreamsau10 ай бұрын
Hey guys, thank you so much. We certainly love supporting small towns also but have just found different ways to do so rather than eating out. 👍

Thanks for the great tips . less is more ! A minimalistic approach is better than glamping. I could mention several vlogs that show huge vans and setups being taken into places they don’t belong . Small and agile is the best . Too much stuff clutters the camp and takes ages to setup and takedown. 😊

What are you going to do size wise. I totally agree big is not better when you’re down a narrow, what turns out to be a one way track! Where are you at with choices? Cheers guys - great to follow you!

To be able to stay on the road and continue this lifestyle we will be downsizing to try and live in our Troopy and fitting it out to be self sufficient. Otherwise we would still tow a small caravan, we think depending on the layout a 15ft would work well for us. Or in the future we would like to maybe try a slide on camper type set up. Cheers for your support, have a good one!

as some one whos done 2 trips round aus with a 17 foot van and 200 series with a kelpie in the back, also an avid camper.. mate and his wife have just gotten their first van. im not sure what they expect from it, i suspect reality versus intentions will kick in soon enough. having said this, one thing i learnt a long time ago, get/set up what you want and what works for you. along the way you see others stuff and some will work for you and some wont etc. wiki camps rocks!! i bought the app in 2017, still registered. cheers, gleno.

Hey Gleno, that is awesome bet you have had some great trips around! For sure everyone’s needs and wants are different so finding what works for you is unfortunately a bit of trial and error along the way but I swear that’s half the fun. There is just nothing better than Wiki at the moment is there. Cheers mate. 👍

Some great wisdom amongst those 10 tips for travelling.👍 enjoy Tassie and don't forget to go the most southern part of the state down thru the Houn valley. You'll find some good free camps down there.

Totally agree on many of your points guys - great vid! Our 'eating out' has evolved to lunch at a country bakery - never go wrong with a pie or sausage roll and at least its a cheap feed if it isn't crash hot haha! We stock up at Aldi in the larger towns too - was a total shock how much more groceries have been. Loving the comfort of our 18 ft for the lap but when (if!) we stop full time travel and switch back to just weekenders we are looking forward to a smaller footprint too, probably back to a tent/swag. Give Luna an extra belly rub from us! :)
@chasingdreamsau10 ай бұрын
Good points there. After a few let downs we definitely found that we preferred just making our own food and spending that money on something else. Glad your set up is working well for you guys. Belly rubs have been given 🥰

hey guys nice wrap up for 2023 but wondering how you go in the troopy with no roof top accommodation and sharing with Luna? also wondered how you managed with Luna when you got to a location that you wanted to experience but wasn't pet friendly. I have a similar situation with just me and my dog but being a Rotti she likes/needs to have a decent amount of space to sleep in 🐕🤷♂😁
@chasingdreamsau10 ай бұрын
Hey mate, to be 100% honest we don’t know how we are going to go in the Troopy. We are going to put a rooftop tent on top. There are a few apps around that help with pet sitters or fellow campers in the area will sometimes be willing to take turns of pet sitting. 😂 I could imagine she would love her space.

Love the videos. I wish I had started watching earlier. Big question that a lot like me would like to know is how did you go with Luna? I was going to say was she a draw back but I'm sure she would never that, but perhaps a handbrake on some of your activities?
@chasingdreamsau11 ай бұрын
We are so glad you are loving our videos it means the world to us! In regards to Luna, yes it limits us in the way of not being able to go to National Parks or doing certain activities or camp sites. However, there are a lot of options for pet sitters around Australia with a few Apps coming on board but we have not yet used these. There is still so much to see and do that is dog friendly that we don't mind missing out on a couple of things if it means Luna can come with us.

I down loaded off line maps but bugger me if I can get them to work,(wiki camps)
@chasingdreamsau10 ай бұрын
Offline maps on Wiki Camps is great for being able to find campsites still when you have no signal but for navigation we use offline google maps. If you download the section where you intend to go we have found that works really well.

Rangers were never made for a trip like that. Engines are over stressed. Gear boxes are junk. Toyota hold the value for a reason. Can’t be killed. Ask any ford dealer about the new ranger issues. Flex plates failing, gearboxes crapping out all over. There’s a shortage of parts world wide. Dealers in Newcastle have 10 - 20 sitting waiting for parts at the moment. Love you guys by the way. Aiming to do what you are. Live the dream.
@chasingdreamsau11 ай бұрын
Totally agree with you. I don't believe that most of today's 4wd ute range is designed to withstand touring in Australia. I'm sure they will get the job done for most but like you say Toyota just seem to have that reputation for a reason. Mate we hope that we get to see you out there on the tracks one day.Thank you so much for the support!
