There's a further connection between The Matrix and Attack of The Clones... the Death Stick Dealer (Elan Sel'Sabagno, or Elan Sleazebaggano) was played by Matt Doran who played Mouse in The Matrix (who designed the woman in the red dress)... there's also a red drink in front of Obi-Wan and a red drink in front of Elan which some people think is a reference to the red and blue pills... Fun Fact: Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara (R.I.P.) of *"Mythbusters"* fame worked in the *"STAR WARS"* prequel films. Adam was an uncredited visual effects modelmaker in *"The Phantom Menace"* and a credited model maker for ILM in *"Attack of The Clones".* Jamie was a special effects technician in *"The Phantom Menace"* and *"Attack of The Clones".* Tory was another visual effects modelmaker in *"The Phantom Menace"* and a model maker for ILM in *"Attack of The Clones".* And Grant was also a visual effects modelmaker in *"The Phantom Menace"* and a model maker for ILM in both *"Attack of The Clones"* and *"Revenge of The Sith".* On a side note, Grant also worked as a model maker for ILM's miniature unit in Steven Spielberg's *"The Lost World: Jurassic Park",* just two years before he was involved with the prequels.

All 6 Star Wars films were influenced by history, religion, mythology, politics, philosophy, and literature. The Sequel trilogy lacked these influences and rejected Lucas' stories/creativity stabbing him in the back and was just a cash grab it felt like a slap in the face to Star Wars fans, He should have never sold it to the dark side of the force.

Just dialogue? How about the writing in general. A woman who's highly intelligent in the senate, has connections in the Jedi Order, decides not to inform them when her Jedi boyfriend admits that he's a mass murderer she doesn't not only NOT get up and start walking away from the psycho, but also doesn't feel the need to inform either the senate OR the jedi who would have wanted to know that.

At the time of the movie release there was a popular sports talk radio show hosted by Jim Rome who referred to his listeners as Clones, he was out of California but his show was nationwide in many markets, he referred to his listeners that way because many callers would phone in with the same take on a sports topic as the previous caller, I remember when the movie as officially named Attack of the Clones we all had a good laugh, and I wondered if George was a listener as Jim’s show was very entertaining, thanks

I admit that all those scenes of Anakin and Padme were kind of "woody", but I always took it as part of the character rather than poorly written script. I mean Anakin was jedi padawan, how much experience he could have in these matters. His speach about the sand always seemed to me like the talking about weather when you want to talk with someone but you have no idea what to talk about. So in all those wooden scenes he always seemed to me like normal unexperienced teenager who has no idea what to do. Yes, he looked older than usual teenager who fell in love for the first time, then again he was growing in a comunity of warrior-monks so I guess romance skills were not part of his education 😀

17:40 I think much of the awkwardness of dialog can be forgiven if you bear in mind that Anakin has basically lived a cloistered existence without much experience talking to non-jedi type people, let alone exploring feelings he's not supposed to have. He's supposed to be feeling awkward and clunky. Not only that, But I grew up in a sea coast town, making love on the beach is really sexy until you get sand into parts where sand ought not be.

Maybe its because I'm getting old but I liked the political aspects of the prequels. This stuff is illuded to in all of the original movies- teased as a driving force of why there is a rebellion & what made the empire such a tyrannical force but its never specific. I liked that it provided the big reason all of this is happening. I personally liked the extra information & showing the bigger picture.

@@dennismcdonald2607 🤣 I get the OPs point, and yeah, there's a huge amount of backstory (at least now). And getting to see how things got to this point. (A good argument for the Darth bane movies, if you ask me.) I think the problem was the execution. We all know George should be kept as far away from dialog as possible, and his obsession w cgi. I think it struggled w 3 main problems: 1: the prequels basically needed their own prequel to give depth to what is going on. 2:bad direction. Sorry, but true, wooden acting, clunky dialog (that's a twofer, could have filled in holes, and helped pacing) and characters that were hard to really feel for. Especially anakin. And the actors had to work w what they were given. 3: it's a prequel....to one of the biggest franchises of all time. Even the best director and writer would have a hard time making it as impactful as the original. Maybe it would have been better to start w bane, at least one movie. Plenty of action, and setups, and then jump to ep 1.

Personally I thought this movie had the makings to be truly great. Hayden and Natalie should have had more improv romance scenes but still given a general idea for the script. Christopher Lee And Ewan McGregor have a great scene together where they debate philosophy of the Jedi and Sith while Obi-Wan is locked up. I'd keep that deleted scene in but tweak it a little. Christopher Lee absolutely steals the show at times with his precsence, makes sense considering how much of a legend he was. I was almost 6 when this came out and it's the first movie I remember going to see with my dad who is mostly responsible for my love of sci fi and fantasy. I explicitly remember like it was just yesterday skipping school early to see Revenge of the Sith on opening day and thinking this was amazing but also a little sad because to me this was the end. I think the whole awkwardness between Anakin and Padmé makes sense due to Anakin having trained for 10 years as a Jedi and has to suppress emotions he already had and now when he is reunited with Padmé, he comes off as awkward as he doesn’t know how to flirt or anything. He’s trying to make a joke regarding the sand line, but it doesn’t really land since he’s never had a girlfriend and is unable to properly express how he feels without being on the nose about it. Since Obi-Wan is his mentor, Anakin defiantly has to repress his feelings compared to if Qui-Gon was alive, he’d be able to teach Anakin how to be in touch with his emotions without being overly emotional, which is what he was trying to teach Obi-Wan, but this clashed with the Council who are very strict on how to go about being a Jedi. At the end of it all, there were truly 2 Jedis in all of Star Wars: Qui-Gon Jinn and Luke Skywalker. Both were in touch with their emotions and knew when to use them. Suppressing emotions is a reason why Anakin fell to the dark side and why the Jedi collapsed during the Prequels as they seemed to be taking things very literally when perhaps they shouldn’t have taken certain things at face value. Luke and Qui-Gon prove how being in touch with your feelings is a good thing and how suppressing them isn’t the best. The franchise is a Space Opera, so the theatrical acting and melodramatic writing is very fitting to the genre and is in line with the Original trilogy.

Reportedly, Jar Jar was going to have a much bigger role in the movie. However, all the backlash against him caused George Lucas to considerably reduce the amount of screen time Jar Jar got.

My favorite star wars of the prequel trilogy, and possibly my favorite star wars out of them all. I think it's because I was at the right relatable age to Haydens character of Anakin. I felt the anger and conflict. Was going through some heartbreaking stuff at that time and finding myself. Great movie.

6:50, Anakin being petty and requiring more attention makes total sense. This is how the Vaders of life are created. They are petty and confused and require a lot of attention and validation in their youth. When they don't get what they want, they turn to anger and pettiness and revenge. There's a reason Anakin is young in this one and not yet Darth Vader. This is what stories are about. Story arcs. They start one way and end another. It also shows he is starting to battle love vs hate in his mind, foreshadowing what's to come. The most evil people in life have weak emotions. And weak emotions are easily manipulated, hence the creation of Darth Vader.

First of all, I remember people saying a load of crap about the original trilogy too, it just gained more popularity as time went on with the nostalgia factor. Two, the original trilogy get's a lot more hate than it deserves. And finally, three, Hayden's performance made perfect sense to me as it very much reflected Luke's behavior...like father, like son. I thought so much of this was actually well done, especially considering Lucas himself does not enjoy or consider himself an actual director of acting.

Your initual reaction was probably the most honest one. It's not perfect but it's a fun space adventure movie. The reputation of the prequals was tarnished by people being overly critical of them. Many of those people missed the point of the films.

The key to understanding and fully enjoying the prequel movies, you MUST read the novelization BEFORE you see the films. Anakins portrayal is actually quite genius when you take in mind how much had to be cut for time. Some deleted scenes help, but the books explain a lot!

@@Blaktrax666 unfortunately that's the nature of movies, things need to be left-out to save time or to hold peoples' interest by having regular action scenes instead of backstory, that cut-scene Minty mentioned of the Dooku statue is a prime example.

I personally think Anakin being weak/pathetic/needy/moody etc works well as those emotions/characteristics aren't what a Jedi would have. So those make him crave power/strength etc and draw upon the Darkside force to get what he wants. Making him the tyrannical Darth Vader that we all know.

Thank you very much for doing this video. I respect your opinion on the movie. I Will always love Attack of the clones! It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely great for me! I was super into Nattile Portman at the time and I still think she’s very attractive. I remember a point at which I was even sort of jealous of Hayden Christiansen. Incidentally I was also reading the Disney Adventures magazine a lot around this time. They had a full article with an interview with Hayden right after he was cast. I liked this interview a lot. I think that this interview helped sell me on Hayden in the role. I think that this movie is better than people make it out to be. I have really come to appreciate it a lot over time but I still respect that’s it not for everyone!

Something about this movie almost nobody mentions. The music John Williams used for the robot factory fight in attack of the clones is the same exact score he used for the quidditch match in chamber of secrets that same year. I always wanted to know how that happened.

This may be the weaker of the prequels but I actually enjoyed it and in my opinion it's much better than any of the sequel films that the 6ft rat crapped out. I remember all the "Anakin is to whiny" but what people are forgetting and yes this goes for us that was born in the original trilogy... is that Luke Skywalker was whiny as well, no doubt about it. I didn't know about Paul Walker auditioning for Anakin Skywalker, I think it would have been cool to see him as that character. Thank the good Lord and the Force that Lucas decided against the Nsync cameo. Great vid dude. 🤘🏻

The Kamino aliens remind me of Chris Bosh. 🤔 I liked this movie. Yes there was corny parts, but overall I liked the romance, politics and action. It was spread out well for me. I could see Vadar brewing in Anakin. The conflict of red flags Padme ignored, I can kind of relate to(not the murdering a whole village red flag), because I have ignored a few myself while dating. And Padme's wardrobe was gorgeous. I want her wardrobe.
