It’s the same with us nurses. We don’t know what day it is, we just know we are working.

I can only imagine that that would mess with you more as well! 24 shifts and all. I really admire nurses and the medical field professionals.

Nice! May I ask why did you transfer from Detroit? If you have a video on it I’d love to watch it
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 3 ай бұрын
Hi there. Yes, the reason I transferred from Detroit was because I live outside of Portland Oregon. And Seattle was a much closer base for me so I didn’t have to commute as far. But Detroit was an amazing base and the airport is probably one of the best in the US. Hope you’re doing well. Thank you so much.😄

These are all great insights! I figured the layover hotels were taken care of by the airline but it's good to now know the process. I've watched quite a few vloggers since I've started the hiring process but most of what you mention other vloggers aren't even talking about. So thanks! Btw, great job on production and editing!

Hi there. Thank you so very much for the comment. Yes, the editing skills have been improving over these last few months. Ha ha ha ha. Thanks for noticing. I’m happy that you’re getting information that is valuable from my channel compared to others. Thank you for saying so. Please let me know if there are any questions that you have I can help out with. Until then have a great night and we’ll talk soon. Take care. 😊

It’s great to hear that you are able to pick up some great benefits although some are perhaps not so great, 5%!!! It all helps I’m sure. Wow, how fantastic that one of your life goals is to become a pilot, that will be an interesting journey for sure. Thanks for another great video. It’s great to see your subscribers growing slowly but surely. Take care and stay safe.

Hey there David. Great to hear from you as always. Thanks for the comment. Yeah it’s getting interesting as the time goes by. We’ll see how things go with that pilot thing. But for now just working the flight attendant lifestyle. 😎

Thank you for sharing all the detailed information. As a FA in Canada I thought we have similar conditions and actually I found out quite a lot of differences like training pay and paid luggage from your explanation. Thank you and I appreciate it.

Hi Justin. I’m sure there are several differences between the US and Canada. In addition to that there are also differences between airline to airline in the United States. My company is not the norm for airlines in the states. We do have some additional perks that make it beneficial to being with my airline. Hope you’re well. Thanks again. Talk soon.🙂

I want to add my comment on becoming a Pilot when you are already a Flight Attendant. Unless you know people working for a reliable farm team airline, it can be quite a downgrade to leave an A321NEO serving diet Coke to becoming a pilot and trying to fly a clapped out Piper Navajo in icing conditions to earn those valuable flight hours as a commercial pilot. The airline industry is cyclical, and one minute there is a pilot shortage the next minute, a pilot surplus. I once heard someone describe airline industry as equivalent to a used car...it has a poor accelerator but really good brakes! :)

Thank you so much for that insight. It is a bit of a scary thing to leave something stable. And you have some excellent points. I will definitely put some thought into it. I really appreciate you. Have a great night! 😊

It’s always been amazing to us that American based crew only get paid between doors closed and open. I’m a New Zealand based flight attendant and we get a base salary irrespective of whether we fly or not, that’s up to $76k(ish) depending on your rank per year plus we get a duty allowance from sign on to sign off for each duty for which the amount is dependent on the destination and of course the duty time. In addition we get other little allowances each pay for uniform upkeep and things like that. I fly international. Domestic and regional are a little bit different but they still get the base salary and their allowances are more like meal allowances. I know there are lots of other countries who are paid in a similar way to us and one would hope changes are made for US crew as well moving forward!!! All the best xx

Wow. We should take some lessons from New Zealand! That sounds amazing!! Yes, it was pretty weird to me when I first heard of it. Lol. Thanks for the comment and info. Hope you have a great 2024! Stay safe up there! Cheers! 😄

When do you start training? I hope that you crush it. Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. And yes, we will definitely see each other in the air soon. Let me know if you have any other questions. All the best to you. Take care. 😊

@@valenciaflyer I start in March but for a different airline than yours. I live in Detroit but they do not have a Detroit base so my family and I are looking into things. I'd like to know more about how you cope with living away from your wife. I did watch your Crash Pad video!

As a person who was once inspired to become a flight attendant, I finally let that go. I’m still an aviation geek and I love traveling however, I’m not willing to work for free or even I have a. I have never understood airline industry not paying you to do what is required even though it’s not pay.. I can’t believe how many hours flight work and don’t get paid if you added up at the end of the year you’d be way ahead financially if you’re actually getting paid or all that free time. That said the perks are nice but I just don’t understand why it’s acceptable to not pay people or doing what is required.. It was good to learn. I learned some new things about.. 😊❤

VF, and don’t forget the per diem, which can add up, especially when delays or irons or rerouting occurs. Glad u get to get home some. Imagine it is always rather short though. Your friend, Herman
@valenciaflyer

Yes, absolutely true. The per diem is something that can certainly add up overtime. And once I become leader eligible, that will be another add-on to the pay. Not to mention international trips. Hope you’re doing great Herman. Have a great night. Talk soon.😀

Question: Are you getting payed during layovers or like you mentioned when you have to stay in switzerland?? :)
@valenciaflyer
@valenciaflyer 9 ай бұрын
Hello there. Thanks for the question. Yes I am getting paid a per diem per hour that I’m away from base. This helps cover meals and other incidentals. It’s not much but it does add up at the end of the month. Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. Have a wonderful night and let me know if you have any other questions. Take care. 😀
