HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.
I am back with new videos and ready to hit the ground running with fresh episodes.
Today let's talk about how I lost my laptop so that this doesn't happen to you. Also about my new base transfer to SEA. And lastly about what I have in store for future episodes on the channel. Let's get to it....

Hey there David thanks so much for the comment. Hope the year is starting off wonderful for you. Yes, so true, I have to just suck it up. But I did get another laptop so that’s the good news. I’m currently in Hawaii, taking a footage of this amazing resort that I was placed into on the big island. Stay tuned for that one. Otherwise, things are going well and Seattle has turned out to be a pretty nice base. Come the summertime, I wonder if there will be more exciting trips to be had. VF, already heard from you about the laptop but not the particulars. Very sad thing. Thank goodness for a supportive family. May 2024 be none of that kind of experience. Also knew you got the xfr to SEA. Obviously you have to be here for. ADAYs. And most likely between some of the rotations. If you are completely satisfied with your crash pad situation, great. But, if not, perhaps I have a situation that might work for you. Have a 2 br 2 bath condo in west SEA near White Center in city but almost in Burien, so am fairly close to SeaTac. My hubby died at end of February 2023 and his bedroom and bath are not used. You impress me as a decent guy. Do not know how much privacy crash pad has, but this is quiet. 8 total units of 4 in 2 buildings. Being from So Cal, I have to say I find it a little too cool to cold for me much of the time, and AM considering getting back to warmer climes and would then sell it. Know you are married. Do not know if have children, but it might become available for purchase. Have never had a roommate per se, since have been in long term relationships over the years. Just something for you to mull over in your mind as a place to stay. No pressure for sure. If your present arrangements work for you, then I am happy for you. My life is in flux right now too and have obeyed the advice of not doing any drastic changes after death of one’s center in less than a year. Congratulations on getting into base. How long after requesting did you get request granted? Herman

Hey there, Herman, so good to hear from you. So sorry to hear about your loss. My condolences. Things here have been going pretty well overall after my transfer to Seattle. I am able to go home more often than before so that’s great. I’ve already started gaining some seniority, not much but a little bit so that’s good. I did have a Crash Pad Seattle but I found out that since I’m so close to home. I wasn’t using it as much as I used my Crash Pad Seattle. Ultimately, I let that go and now just try to get home right after my rotations. So far it’s been working out pretty decently. But thank you so much for the offer. If life changes in that direction I will definitely contact you. I just started my fifth month on the line and they’re still so much to learn and go through. Just taking it one step at a time. Certainly. Only a matter of time until I seek warmer place and sell this. Am not interested in making a ton of $ from it, but would like to get back what we paid for sure. Will keep you informed. If you guys consider being in SEA to resolve the commuting hassles, perhaps it might be something for you. No matter what, am happy you are closer to home - and, by driving you do not worry at least about space available or even another person having reserved the jump seat😊

Wow, I'm so glad you had the Elves of Santa help you get a new one! Very excited to hear you got your Seattle transfer! And yes, thanks for clarifying the distance, that would be the equivalent of me having BOS if I couldn't get NYC, and I would have to know how many flights and probability of community via plane vs a 3 hour drive... thankfully you do have the option for either in case you are in a pinch, curious how are you handling that for your Adays though, do you have a place to hang so you have enough time to report? Hopefully the loads get better for you now that the holidays are through, although you still have IROPS to contend with but thankfully you can drive as a back up plan! I am glad that you have got your turn to move to SEA in such a short period of time. I am not able to commute so I have to find an opportunity in my city. I wonder in the past five months whether you were able to manage to cover the cost of commuting. In my company a lot of new hires have to quit due to not able to make a living with current pay scale. Within a year and four months my seniority has been moved up to 42 percentage of the whole team. I withdraw money from my retirement savings plan to cover the living cost. I hope five years later the inflation rate would not break my plan.

Hey there Justin. Thanks for the comment. Hope 2024 is shaping up to be an excellent year for you. Wow. That is some very interesting news with your airline. Not sure what city you’re in but it is a challenge to be a commuter for sure. I have been able to manage the cost of commuting so far. I did have a Crash Pad in Seattle but I let it go because I was not using it as much as I thought I would have. So far my biggest expense is food. Because I have on-call days I never know where I’m going to go therefore, taking food can be questionable. This is mostly because I don’t know if the hotel that I will be placed in will have a refrigerator and or microwave. I have had some of my food go to waste because of this. Therefore I stopped doing that for the time being, but that has increased my cost of food. That’s great that your seniority has gone up so much. I, myself have only moved up one percentage point, ha ha. But so far so good. No complaints because I’m still pretty new and they’re still so much to learn. Well, thanks again Justin for checking in. Woohoo 300! I originally signed up for LGA/JFK hopefully get based at home. I hear now your base gets informed first opposed to last. Sorry about your lab too and yes your channel helps a lot. I’ll be new in this field and appreciate your advice from a male FA 👨🏻‍✈️. Can you share what luggage brand you use? Is it best to buy ahead or wait for a discount from the academy?

Good morning. Thanks so much for the comment. It’s wonderful to hear that. You’ll be a part of the crew soon. Currently, I have a travel pro luggage with a Samsonite tech bag that I just bought. There are so many luggage options to choose from. If you’re in a pinch any luggage will do. I got mine from Nordstrom rack. But if you do have a little bit more to invest I would go through the higher end travel pro line. They will last longer and are more rugged. Ultimately I plan to graduate to Biggs and Riley luggage. Even though it is expensive that will probably last you most of your career. Hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. I’ll be heading to MSP for Endeavor Air but don’t know anything yet about attire for training. Will try to take some granola bars, nuts and almond butter all packed hopefully it’s allowed in a checked bag to save some bucks

Hi there. Luckily, nothing else fell out of the backpack but sadly it was my laptop. Thanks so much for asking. I think I’m going to be staying in Seattle for the foreseeable future. There seems to be more advancement in Seattle than there would be in Portland at this time. Therefore I’ll continue the commute which isn’t too horrible. Hope you have a wonderful new year. I could but the better trips are in Seattle. And therefore better paychecks. So it’s a pain sometimes to commute but ultimately worth it. So I’ll be staying there til for foreseeable future. Hope you’re well. 😀
