The whole thing about Resident Evil 3 not being the true RE3 is a popular misconception. Resident Evil 3 was always intended to be the 3rd entry. How Code:Veronica played into all this? Well, it had to do with the release of Resident Evil 2. The game was initially announced for the Playstation, and promised to be ported to other consoles as well, one of which was the Sega Saturn. However, when it came time to begin porting the title, Mikami and friends discovered that the Sega Saturn simply didn't have the power to handle the 2nd entry in the series. After trying several times to cut corners in order to get the game to work, they finally declared that they wouldn't be able to port it to the Saturn. Understandably, Sega Saturn owners were disappointed by the news, who had been waiting faithfully for their shot at the sequel (RE1 had been released on the console without issue). Shinji Mikami felt bad about leaving Sega fans out, so he promised to create a future RE title that would be a Sega platform exclusive. Fast forward a bit, and Resident Evil 3 and Code:Veronica were being developed at the same time. Resident Evil 3 was intended to continue cashing in on the blockbuster success of Resident Evil 2 on the Playstation, while Code:Veronica was always intended to be the side project that fulfilled Mikami's promise. It was eventually released to the Sega Dreamcast. Of course, Internet nonsense and hearsay at the time popularized the rumor that Code:Veronica was the "true" sequel and RE3 was only intended as the side project. This became exacerbated by the fact that Capcom later decided to port CV to the Playstation 2, along with some updated cutscenes and a few extra bells and whistles. Nowadays it hardly matters, as both entries are considered canon. Still, wanted to clear up that misconception.

The dream sequence one is Gun Survivor 2: Biohazard code: Veronica. Dead Aim was actually the fourth title of the Gun Survivor franchise. Gun Survivor: Biohazard Gun Survivor 2: Biohazard code: Veronica Gun Survivor 3: Dino Crisis Gun Survivor 4: Biohazard: Heroes Never Dies. But those games were retitled in America and Europe as, Resident Evil: Survivor Resident Evil: Survivor 2: code: Veronica Dino Stalker Resident Evil: Dead Aim

Like... they really went overboard with the clones. A bunch of Alice clones get made, a bunch of Alice clones die. Alice fights Umbrella clones only to end up killing Dr. Isaac clones until finally we reach the end where Alice turns out to be a clone herself. Like, wtf was Paul W.S. Anderson smoking?

Resident does not mean mansion or house, it simply refers to where you live. If you live in a cave, then the cave is your residence as you reside in it. A Residential district is not named as such because houses exist in it, but because that is the district that people 'live' in. The houses are simply a by product to meet that necessity. But, again, the term itself refers to the place you live, but, where you live or what you live in has no barring on the term itself. Thus when you use the term Resident Evil, you can literally translate it to "Evil lives here RE1 - Evil residents in a mansion RE2 and 3 - Evil residents in a city In CVX Evil lived on Rockfort Island. RE4 - Evil residents in a countryside town and a castle

I’d always heard Romero’s Resident Evil script was well-liked by both Capcom (who had little direct involvement in the movies’ production) and Constantin Films, but it was ultimately rejected by Constantin over fears the amount of graphic violence would get the movie an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. Romero also wasn’t the first person to take a crack at adapting it, after Constantin acquired the film rights in 1997 they hired screenwriter Alan McElroy. By all accounts McElroy’s script was largely faithful to the first game’s story and characters, but it was rejected by Constantin after the second game came out because they thought a movie based so closely on the first game would come off as “boring.”

It seems you've reiterated a long standing misconception while also adding more misinformation. RE3 with HUNK and Nemesis were two different projects. The original RE3 was planned for PS1 but moved to PS2, because of the delay Nemesis became 3. CODE:Veronica was always what it was.

How come nobody ever talks about the Revelations series? I thought those games were excellent. Especially the second one. It felt like what RE6 should have been. Action heavy, sure, but with a renewed focus on creepy atmosphere and scares. Plus, we finally got to see what Claire and Barry have been up to over the years! I've sunk hours into just It's Raid mode alone. It's a blast, and probably in my top 3 Resi games ever. Fight me.
