I know. Taking antibiotics and drinking Sprite in a restaurant with dinner while everyone else is getting wasted and having to listen to them talking shit repetitively is so boring! You can't have a decent conversations.

#RobRamdisk here's several things for stopping alcohol at home Try to eat food when you are drinking - this cuts down the amount you drink. Take a break from alcohol. Keep track of how much you drink, then you know if you are cutting down. Set yourself goals - don't make them too hard at first. Choose one or two days or every week when you will not drink . Then, try to stop drinking for one week each month. (I discovered these and why they work from Adoette drink plan website

1 month sober. I feel so much better. I do crave alcohol in the evenings. Mostly I think out of habit because I used to get wine on my way home from work. I am easily triggered but I just talk myself out of it. I actually sleep instead of passing out. I actually dream. I love waking up in the mornings. I wake up so grateful every morning and thank myself for not drinking the night before. I'm much happier. I've mended many relationships. I feel good. I just started crossfit this morning.

I've had PTSD/panic/anxiety for the last 14+ years. I swear, I wish it was just this simple. I'm glad this man has had success in his approach, it's just not applicable to everyone in general. Which came first... the chicken or the egg?? Is your "struggle" worse because of the drinking???... OR is your "drinking" worse because of the struggle?? I've endured 8 life changing events that were catastrophic at LEAST in my younger years. 5 happened before age 18. But, the train kept rollin. I am an Army veteran, and THAT in itself is not grandiose, but I WOULD say doctors, family, friends, psychologists, etc, need to lose the catch all diagnosis of 'drunk/alcoholic', and start focussing LESS on the booze and MORE on what causes the booze. And doctors don't do that. They tend to hear the word "alcohol", and THAT becomes their saving grace, catch-all, diagnosis/ prescription word for what ails you. (ie.- they'll tell you "stop drinking, and everything will fall into place and be better." But again, Chicken or the egg. ?? ) It's easy to get on here and post generalized 'guru' self help bullshit, and give big advice, but human nature simply does NOT react to that. If stopping was that simple, there'd be no problem ever.

I lived with my alcoholic ex for 2 years. When I met him, I was a social drinker who drank rather heavily and while dating him I doubled the amounts until I started experiencing blackouts and decided to cut back. As I cut back alcohol we started growing apart. His best friend who I had the best relationship with previously started resenting me and even yelling at me. I tried to hold on to my ex in every way but he eventually became violent towards me. It's sad but at least I am rid of that habit now.

Very true , a person using alcohol as a way to cope with both good and bad . This happens so long you lose or never learn how to cope with life’s situations. You also don’t learn how to deal with relationship and so on because everything involved drinking . So as an adult later in life you still lack these needed skills and make poor choices because again these things were not learned without alcohol. It’s a horrible situation but if you look at it the alcoholic basically never grows up .

Hi Kevin - I've stopped drinking since January 6th this year so just over a month in and its getting a bit easier as i go on. My perception of alcohol has definitely changed and i think that is key. I went to a few AA meetings and took what i could that was good from it (introducing a bit of spiritual and taking time to deal with my daily emotions mainly) I'm currently reading "Wasted: A Sober Journey thru Drunken Ireland". At this time im having a lot of dreams at night or in the morning that I've drank and they kind of scare the hell out of me. I wanted to see if you have or could do a video on this topic, are these common and do they go on forever or decrease or disappear eventually. Thanks - Dermot.

As a person who has been sober for 17 years, I can promise it will not be like this forever. Don't let the dreams scare you, your mind is just trying to cope with the adjustment, it is traumatic to your mind, but it won't be forever...I promise.

Thanks for putting in words just about everything I'm going through. Today I don't want to drink but I don't know what to do with myself so I'm just listening to your channel and doing my taxes, I'm boring but a least I'm sober and alive. I like putting my life in perspective a lot lately and if I remind myself that I have it made compared to many others it helps. Just considering health I am so grateful for mine even though I will always have problems with my pancreas that isn't much compared to someone with cancer or seeing others so sick they can't even move. I'm grateful for everything I went through and saw at the hospital, it makes me thankful everyday. I was wasting my life being wasted.

First of all Since i dont understand i want a pure conversation and serious answers. Ok 1) How is it possible to get addicted to alcohol im a smoker though but i cant understand how this works with alcohol. 2) Why addictives get drunk easier than an average guy. Since they drink longer they should be having stronger system right ? 3) How it feels to be addicted to alcohol, I mean after a couple of drinks, when you feel dizzy what makes you drink more ? i remember when i got drunk at a party but i realised i was drunk, when i got up from the couch then i stopped drinking but as the time passed by i couldnt even walk without help and i thought i was gonna die if i leaned my head back and i wanted to puke so so bad and couldn't, i couldnt see properly, i had paranoia, i had mixed feelings of fear sadness etc, i was crying without reason, i dont remember how/when i got home and i could feel my head exploding. Eventually i fall asleep and after i got up 10 hours later i was still dizzy. Well it was a bad experience i will be remembering my whole life and since then i drink a couple of drinks within 4 hours. That night i drunk almost 9 differnt drinks in an hour without food.

not all alcoholics get black out drunk everyday some every other week and just happen to drink everysingle day and get that nice buzz, you build up a tolerence after awhile and can stomach more and then you start to crave that cold beer after work or margirita or other mixed drink. Just like the more you smoke the more you want it.
