These companies want everyone one at home in their shoebox working for Ai. @ Generally with Linux, the drivers are all built-in: if you have an AMD graphics card, you might need to do a bit of work to get the right kernel version with the driver included, but it can be done. That's worst case: usually it's all detected. The thing to try is to download a Linux Mint image (the Mate version is what I use), flash it onto a usb drive (there are instructions on how to do that in Windows on the internet), and then boot off the drive. It will go into a Linux system that lives on the drive and won't install anything unless you deliberately do so (it can't accidentally do it: there are so many confirmations). Then you can test out all the hardware to see if anything's missing. Try a web browser, try viewing a video on youtube, try bluetooth if you use it, recording audio, etc. On my machines (Thinkpads) everything works.

Things I change to lessen the blow (I'm a systems admin, deal with many people who hate change) In the start menu, you can drag icons on top of other icons and create groups, you can name the group. "video editing tools" "office" etc also, right click in the start menu "start settings" you may prefer to change how much real estate is pinned items, "suggested" (fuck you ms I know what i want) desktop icons moving: right click desktop, view -check that "auto align" is not checked. Windows Explorer: One neat thing is it has tabs now. that address your drag issues. Get out of the habit of opening many explorer windows -navigate in each tab to location (right click, open folder in new tab if you like) drag between tabs. But you still want to make a few changes to get it back to "normal" Open windows explorer (you call it "my computer"). in the toolbar, hit the three dots ... options, view tab "Decrease space between items" -tightens things back up uncheck "hide file extension" I want to know what kind of file that is. it's important uncheck "show check boxes" I know how to use control/shift to select things.. under navigation -check everything. This gives you a better relative view in explorer on the left side... you know where you are. THIS IS HUGE: fix the right click menu!! You will like this one most of all Google "Windows 11 right click explorer menu - Show More as Default" There is a registry hack.. it puts back the windows 10 right click.. no more dumb icons (you need to restart after making the reg hack to get it applied) Can't help with volume or icon bars I shared your dis-like... hung onto 10 for a while but I have to change. windows 10 support dies in october. First of all, I'm sorry for your loss... When I got my new laptop it shipped with Win 11, but I went the extra mile and pulled out the m.2 with it, bought a new m.2 and installed Win 10. They say that the latest Intel chips are optimized for Win 11, but can you really feel the difference...I don't think so. It's probably some rare use case. I'm also sorry that you missed out on the shake feature on Win 10, it was always there, but I've only used it by accident. The sort of fix for the issue where one window is on top of the other and you want to drag something from one to the other is drag the file out of the window down to the taskbar windows explorer, it will show the two windows you have open. Then drag the file over the window you want the file, but get this, don't let it go :D because that only makes the bottom window forward, so then you can finally keep dragging that file to the window and drop it there. I don't know if any of this made any sense, because it's actually very simple, but difficult to describe. For how I use the windows, it makes sense, but it may not be for everybody. Also, don't forget to use the Win+E shortcut to bring up the Windows Explorer. I've found that extremly handy.

This video is exactly reason why im still on Win 10 and as far as im concerned im not "upgrading" to Win 11 anytime soon. Even tryed Linux Mint to get away from Windows but so far it cannot do what i want it to do as there is no support for software i use. I feel like Microsoft is updating all the wrong things. Another thing that i have a problem with is Windows Recall. It is a giant security risk and so many people claim that it only works with AI but it was already proven that it works without it and last time i checked security on those files was non existent as all you needed to do was to rename file extension to .jpg to open it. I dont know if they have fixed it since that was proven to work without AI and at this point i dont think i care anymore. Windows Recall will always be a security risk in my mind at this point.

This intro is legendary. The highlight of the video. Played it twice. But let's now be clear once and for all times: all the UI changes in Windows since v.7 are cosmetic, to mask the advancing spying functions of the OS. In Win10 with a completely clean and fresh machine, I click on *Windows key* and then *Power* to be able to choose from restart it or Shut down. And it takes 2 times 3 seconds before you can make the choice... 6 seconds for the first and most ever basic function of the machine... We all need to run away from that piece of a joke, the software crap they call MS OS.

I used Windows, Ubuntu and macOS in somewhat equal amounts in the last year. They all have their pros and cons. Windows now has a lot of cons, like ads and lots of unnecessary bloat. The settings being distributed all over the place is a constant nightmare. But the subsystem for linux improved a lot of things for me, as did powershell. And window management is genuinely good on windows, who would have thought. MacOS has poor windows management, at least without third party apps. I prefer it for the unix base while being able to run commercial software. Best of both worlds in that sense. Ubuntu actually has a bunch of clever design choices, but besides obvious problems with a lot of commercial software I also found it just unstable. The Linux kernel may be stable, but the GUI glitched out regularly for me. My last OS upgrade also failed and resulted in an entire weekend wasted.

when you are a person with 10s of thousands of files and do a lot of work with them daily right clicking to delete and rename is automatic. When you right click and those words are not there and there are icons at the top or bottom instead, your brain literally shuts down for a moment every time! It would likely take months to retrain my brain after 20 plus years of that auto right click. 75% or so of people have very few actual files. They are fine with the change quickly probably never having right clicked in their life unless and IT tech told them to over the phone. It's the same reason they are ok with everything being on the cloud, the less than 50 files they have are fine. I have terabytes of files syncing with the cloud is a nightmare even if it were free. I had a friend last year having an issue she had been using windows 15 years I least. I told her right click then.... she was AMAZED to find out there was a whole right click menu!!

@@Tatiacha While I agree with most of the issues in this video, and what you said might right -- what I don't get is why anyone is right clicking to delete files when you can just press delete on the keyboard. Is that just something I didn't realize people do? Like I get someone who is computer illiterate would drag stuff to the recycle bin, but then I though anyone who knew how to use a computer well would just press delete, and not open a whole right click menu just to delete something, lol. Granted, I'll admit -- there are probably hotkeys I don't use that I probably should learn about, but I thought delete was more ubiquitously known as the default way for regular users to get rid of files rather than right clicking.

As bad as Windows 11 is, my system is so much more powerful & faster than the highest end Mac, & only cost me 6k to build it... The closest Mac equivalent (with less storage & RAM) is over $11,000 PLUS I built it, & optimized it specifically for photography (which you can't do with a Mac) With that 5k I saved I could get a new camera or a lens or two. But yeah, the new Windows is almost as bad as the Apple OS... Worst case scenario, I'll move to Linux. Her husband makes good money & they're Apple addicts... I'll give you this, the computers are way better than their garbage phones... And I do like that the Mac OS does what it's supposed to out of the box... I hate the tinkering period of Windows I do know my build is a beast in Lightroom compared to hers, but haven't used Premier on it. But I know how to build based on my workflow, so I can promise it's better I do HATE Windows though. I just hate Macs even more... @@Scottie_McNaughty I left adobe and pc all in the same year. I would say that Resolve and apple go together perfectly. I'm not sure how Premiere runs on a mac, but I agree that it is optimized for intel and cuda cores. The fact that I'm rendering just as fast if not faster on a macbook with resolve and that I have zero fan noise compared to my 1000 watt power supply running my crazy pc system was reason enough for me to jump. Its nice having the same cpu/gpu performance plugged in just as much when unplugged. PC and Mac are both cults. We just have to choose the cult that fits our needs best. We can still be friends.
