One thing I do know, after owning one. The best MF machine I have ever owned in 35 years on 2 wheels.

I love the look of this bike, but my ankles cramped up just taking a 32-mile round trip test ride on it. I'm 5 11tall and this seating position does not work for me.

Honda... Make a mini Gold Wing! Make a cruiser exactly like this only smaller. It would be the perfect affordable cruiser.

I think Honda has its head up its rear. They could have updated the VTX over the years to make it a nice sporty cruise and they dropped it for that fury…yuck

Many moons ago, 1980, 81 Honda had the Goldwing 1100 and the Silverwing 550. When it was announced they were bringing the Silverwing back out I was pretty jazzed. I figured they would tweak the frame drop in the 1100 or 1200 engine and make a smaller version of the Goldwing and call it the Silverwing. When it appeared in the step, through giant scooter I was appalled. If you are a small sized human, bike manufacturing gives you a cruiser. Not everyone wants a cruiser. It would be great if Honda would make a smaller touring bike for those of us who want the bells and whistles, comfort and locking bags. I bought a Honda PC800 or Pacific Coast because that was the closest I could get to a 'Wing. After my skills were more polished I bought a Valkyrie and then an 1800 'Wing. It would still be nice if I was offered a Goldwing Lite.

More things you should know (I am an owner). the seat absolutely is not comfortable for long rides. Be prepared to spend $850.00 to $1500.00 on a Saddlemen or Russell seat to make it right. The handlebars suck and need to be changed out. Be prepared to spend another $850.00 for Helibars (plus install) to make it right. The foot position is not comfortable for long rides. Be prepared to add some highway pegs so you can stretch out. Goldstrike sells a decent set for about $350.00. Also, the connectivity is notoriously bad on the infotainment system. No good aftermarket fix for this, but you may decide to add a Garmin, and maybe a CarlinKit Wireless CarPlay.

I don’t own a Goldwing, but I rode my neighbors for about 5.5 hours on a trip to Crater Lake. And I have been riding for 27 years, all kinds of different bikes. All the items that you mentioned seem opinionated. Everyone will have their own opinions, likes and dislikes. One bike may not be for you while it may be absolutely heavenly for another. I found the Goldwing to be an absolutely wonderfully comfortable and smooth motorcycle. Everyone I have spoken with who own Goldwings also agree. I am now about $5,000 shy of buying my Goldwing.

Well, i find the saddle very confortable for 900kms in a day (10 hours), my wife finds the saddle great too, and the triangle between pegs saddle and bars is the best i have experience for control and confort, but that is only my opinion of course….

I have 5800 miles on my '22 DCT bike with 1 year of ownership (new off the showroom floor). Like all Honda seats, they require a break in. From the factory, the seat is hard and uncomfortable. Time in the saddle softens it. Yes, the handlebar position sucks. Helibars adapters ease the driving position, but full Helibars completely cures the position issues. I put floorboards on my '22 GW and do not have pegs. The foot position is cramped with my size. I will be getting road pegs shortly. The infotainment system definitely needs work on this bike.

My only concern with the GW is changing the rear tire. Getting a tire replaced is a big job.
@srteach70
@srteach70 3 ай бұрын
This generation of GWs (2018-2024) has a single side swing arm. Two bolts to remove the center rear panel. Center stand, 5 lug nuts and roll the rear tire out. Take it to the shop to get the new tire remount. Reverse the process to get it back on. That is what it takes to get the rear tire change done. The Front, however , is a normal beast.

10 things? The seat still sucks. The shocks are garbage. Nav system is a joke. Shift lever is not positioned correctly. If you push the wrong button on the audio, you need to shut the bike off to reset it. AM FM reception is horrible. I fixed almost all of these. And I love my bike.

No mention of the fact it takes a dealer several hours to drill down to the air cleaner when it needs replacing. You have to press 3 or 4 buttons to access the gas cap. The saddlebags are not top open but side open, that really sucks when trying to load and unload plus they are not removable. No quick release for travel trunk. Rider pegs instead of floorboards for the long haul. Way too many faults for me but I'd still love to have one just for the engine and DCT alone.

@@michaelclark8253 The bike isn’t perfect, no bike is. It is great, however. You open the gas tank lid with the press of two buttons. One opens the right-side storage pocket and one inside the pocket opens the tank lid. Not sure where “3 or 4” came from. Candidly, I find it less troublesome than fumbling for my key to unlock the tank on many typical motorcycles.

This is a very informative video, thanks. While I'm not yet a GW owner/rider...yet, I'm certainly in love with the GW, especially the DCT-Tour. Recently I've come across two problems that unsuspecting GW riders have been contending with and I want to know if Honda can mitigate these two problems through future design modifications. Problem number one is the eventual premature failure of the DCT clutch system experienced by riders who continuously ride the GW DCT-Tour at low enough speeds to have the clutch engage/disengage (and what lies in between this) actuation repeat itself too frequently to its early destruction. I hope Honda will educate future buyers of the GW DCT-Tour about this type of clutch-wrecking riding style since such damage will not be covered by warranty. What I would like to know as a potential buyer is "Can/will Honda be able to modify the DCT system to overcome this inherent weakness of being overworked at the slow speed regimes involving the engage/disengage engine speeds of 1,000 to 1,500 rpm range (am I correct about that rpm range)?" Problem number two is the premature wearing-out of the front shock absorber's bumper due to how close the shock absorbing strut gets/stays when weight (of rider or more) is placed on the bike...there just isn't any useful strut-travel space left. I see too many complains about the shocks being too soft and hitting the bumper too much, too frequently unless the roads are blemish-free. I'm worried that in my part of the world where tarred roads of developed urban areas are 90% riddled with bump-rich blemishes and heavy, crawl-pace traffic jams are a daily challenge, owning a GW DCT-Tour will be incredibly costly in terms of repeated front strut bumper and clutch replacements. What is Honda doing about these unresolved issues?

What is the Honda Goldwing's performance like on the road? If the "Goldwing DCT Tour Airbag" with a single rider on a level road is cruising at a constant 140km/h (86.9mph) in top gear (7th), what would is engine speed be (how much engine rpm)?

@MrMajikman1
@MrMajikman1 2 ай бұрын
@@ramniksingh7702 The bike has an option for manual shifting. However, there is no clutch lever, or shift pedal. You shift with the push of a button. Plus, there are four modes to the auto transmission. When in the sport mode, the rpm's stay higher through the gears giving you that "powerband" feeling. Touring mode is more so for long distance riding on open highways.

With all the aging baby boomer motorcycle riders that are out there, including me, Honda NEEDS to come out with the top of the line Goldwing DCT Trike touring motorcycle that is factory designed, factory assembled, factory warrantied front to back, and can be serviced front to back at any authorized Honda service center across the globe. This trike should have all of the usual standard features of a Goldwing DCT but include some things like independent suspension for rear tires, maintain the current DCT walking and reverse, add sturdy running boards, air deflectors, home link, highway pegs, trailer hitch with increased towing capabilities, blacked out and chrome versions in the Goldwing Red, rider backrest, custom seat, passenger arm rests, chrome trunk rack w/LED brake light, storage compartment lights, and a full cover. Make this the best fully loaded factory designed and built touring trike ever built. I am looking at shifting from two wheel motorcycle to a trike sometime in the next 5 years and Honda is truly missing out on a market that is increasing as baby boomer riders get to the point that they would rather have a three wheel trike than a two wheel bike. I don't want a Goldwing aftermarket trike that I can't get warrantied service at any Honda service center across the USA. Honda needs to meet the growing market that's right in front of you.
