I live out in the country where we literally only have one provider available. And we’re paying for 12 megabits per second but only getting about 1-3 megabits per second. And that’s the download speed. The upload speed is sitting at a comfortable 220 kilobits per second. Which is terrible. We have called our provider multiple times now (they have terrible customer service) and they claim that they have fixed it, but it still just doesn’t work the way it should. I live in rural Ontario, did the speed test as linked in the description and got a download speed of 375kbps. And yes I said kb. Our ISP has even told us that they can't bump the voltage on the phone line as they risk burning it up. Point is people who live in towns and cities need to suck it up sometimes when it comes to internet speed. Btw we pay almost $100 a month for this.

One problem not mentioned is leaving a set top box streaming and just turning off the TV. If you have 3 or 4 TVs, this can slow things down quite a bit. My kids have Rokus in their bedrooms. They will typically just turn off their TVs when they are ready to sleep. I have made it a habit to go in their rooms and unplug the power from their Roku players to make sure nothing is getting streamed to them when the TVs are off.

when we built out house we had ethernet plugs put in every room (beside the coax for cable) and in my basement they run into a simple switch. i installed a rack with a power strip and poe switch. i have att fiber (their wifi turned off) going into an Asus AC3100 router/wifi and that into my poe switch. that poe switch wasn't the greatest brand name wise and i was wondering if that switch can slow down my download/upload speeds? i.e. should i replace that poe switch with another one to fix my speed issues?

Telling people to reset their routers is the worse way to say reboot it. People who don't know any better might have a reset button on their router which when pressed or held down, will load the factory defaults of the AP and internal settings. If using wifi, choose the correct wifi channels. The smartphone apps will help decide the best channels for your situation. Often 5 gHz channels might be better, but not always. If the ethernet or wifi channels are very busy, then the important channel you want might be slow & baulking. So stop or slow the other channels, to improve the channel you need. Our ISP provided an essential & configured router with poor wifi properties. So we need to add another low cost wifi router with multiple aerials and much better wifi coverage. These wifi routers must be positioned carefully, to avoid wifi-hostile barriers: refrigerators, microwave ovens, steel-reinforced walls, etc. On the pointing directions of the wifi aerials, this can be important. Experiment with changing these aerials. The signal differences can be seen with sensitive software on some smartphones. If the receiver & sender have aerials in the same direction, such as both vertical, this can often create a noticeable difference. On some wifi signals, especially long distances, trees and rain can weaken signals. Longer or directional aerials can help. Earthed "barriers" in the undesired side of the aerial can stop stray signals that you need to stop, against hackers, etc.

No mention of ethernet powerline adapter?? With this hardware, you can ethernet connect any device that uses Wifi. Ethernet connected devices double the speed of the internet. Uses your house wiring as an ethernet cable connection and does not interfere with Wifi.

Woah woah woah hold up. Ethernet does NOT double your internet speed. Ethernet only has a more reliable connection. At times, wireless may even be faster than ethernet. At other times, wireless is slower, but ethernet has one reliable speed you can trust. Secondly, powerline adapters are garbage, from first and third hand experience, if you have a 200 mbps signal, it can bring it down to 30, IN THE SAME ROOM. Even if you have newer home wiring, powerline adapters are terrible for high speed internet, even if you get one that “supports” gigabit speeds. ThioJoe made a best case scenario for powerline, and the product was still garbage.

@@zeniq_ WRONG! I have 50/50 bps which is what I get, or more with the powerline adapter. My wifi speed is 25-30 bps. I use the Netgear adapter and it is solid. Both TVs and my laptop are ethernet connected. Never have any buffering at all using ethernet connected Fire Stick 4k. You should not make blanket statements, your experience doesn't mean that other folks will have the problems you have.

I don't have any of these 10 problems. out cell phones, laptops, fire sticks, etc all have downloads resends very slow. Most of the time my laptop takes 25-45 seconds to just download the Yahoo page. My wifi drops out cell phones and we have to enter our wifi password to get reconnected again. I live in the country side and my wifi isnt cabled. It's so annoying trying to download something as it only downloads 1GB every 1 hour to download a game so if the game is 20GB then it will take me 20 hours

i wish have a internet speed in my area.. but in seems they blocking the signal here.. because of bombing i think so. everyday i was hoping to find a sulotion, to get internet speed in my area, without blcoking them or whatever they do...i am very sad about that.. i can't even play online games.. just for 200kbps is enough to play my game including.. my online class right now.

Is my internet good its 510 kbps download speed its slow asf rni used to get consistant 70 ping now 80-509 its really not that old
