@@MrsKatieHeath I made the mistake to freak out the first time I saw my dog reverse sneeze, ever since he runs towards me desperately whenever he does. WHat I do to stop it and i hope it is not harmful, is I cover his nose to force him to breathe through his mouth. In fact, once he started to reverse sneeze, and when I got there I saw him pushing his own nose against the wall of his dog house! (My dog is a chihuahua, but I want a pom too)

Pepi reminds me of my baby pom Cotton (they look like twins except for the fact mine is creamy white) I lost her 3 days before Christmas. We've been together for 7 years and she left a void no one could ever replace. I miss her sweetness and I cuddle and kiss her everyday of my life. Her ashes is at home in a nice urn. Having a baby pom is the best moment of my life.

Miguel Diego Garcia I’m so so sorry to hear that, but sounds like Cotton was a very lucky pup indeed to have a loving human like you to guide her through life! Pepi was creamy white when we got her, but she’s definitely got darker as she’s got older! She’s a very unique beige/dark cream colour now! Hope we can keep your memories alive with Cotton as we keep posting videos ❤️ sending virtual hugs 🤗

My mother's friend just gifted me her Pomeranian today. Her name is Daisy, she is currently nine months old, her coat is thick and fluffy, she is black and tan (she is a pure bred Pomeranian). My mother's friend got her from a very good show breeder, she has a certificate and everything (because of this she costed my mother's friend, 17,000 ILS, which is approximately 5-6 thousand dollars). She's absolutely gorgeous, and I love her so so much.

All the dogs I’ve ever had have had reverse sneezing (also called “internal sneezing”). It can sound quite terrifying, but just lying with them or giving them a gentle pet can help calm them down. Also, in my experience, they do tend to grow out of it. They’ll get them every now and then as adults, but it’s not nearly as common as puppies.

This was very helpful thank you!! My mom and I were talking about how we want a dog but we don’t want it to be caged up. At the same time I have a brother who’s 21 months old so we agreed that maybe when he turns 5 or around that we could look into one since he might bring harm to the dog by grabbing it since he is still young. we don’t know anything about them except that they’re very cute! One thing you also have to keep an eye out for is a luxated patella. Poms are so small that sometimes their joints, knees especially, aren't deep enough. This can cause the ball joint to slip out of its socket. Sometimes it slips out and stays out and sometimes its keeps going in and out, in and out. Either way, it can be very painful for the dog and you will see them favoring that leg. Sometimes its just a matter of them growing a bit more so their joints won't be quite as small but sometimes it does require surgery to fix. Just something to be aware of if your pom starts favoring a leg.
@hrhprincesstiffany67845 жыл бұрын
Aloha EVERYONE, The puppy sneezes, Reverse sneeze can be fixed by rubbing the puppies nose, rhe bridge of the nose, take two fingers and rub back and forth along the ridge of the nose it will stop. The puppies we have do this from time to time. Hope this help, we freaked out as well, thank the Lord there is a solution to this, You can message me if you need, as the two fingers should work, it does for us, fixes it within 5 seconds. 😁

My Pom does the reverse sneeze too. I had no idea that's what it was though. I thought she was having a lot of sinus drainage going on and sort of coughing/ trying to move it. I agree it's scary! Rude person behavior- lol! Mine hates it when strangers come up to her. She also has the same issues with being a fussy eater and not eating. I was going crazy trying to get her to eat. The vet says not to worry about it though unless it goes for 3 days. He says dogs won't starve themselves and to relax- she will eat when she is hungry. I have a special dog purse for her that I got off Amazon. She loves it since she can go everywhere with me. Also it gives her some protection from those rude people. We have even been able to sneak into regrants with ours. If you take her everywhere like I do mine you need to consider her safety while in the car. A sudden stop could be the death of her! I highly recommend the Sleepypod car bed. It's not cheap but my baby's life is worth it. It is one of the few pet carriers that has been crash tested for safety. I know once I saw a video of the test dog flying out of a carrier very similar to the one we were using I became really upset that they were selling carriers like that that did nothing to protect our pets yet giving us a false sense of security.

Hi, my papillons do the reverse sneezing. The vet told me to open their mouth to let the air flow thorough. The teeth are very tight when you do this so you have to be gentle but also be aware they can accidentally bite down on your fingers so it’s almost about the right timing. I just hold the jaw open slightly for a few seconds and it helps every time. Be calm and gentle when doing this. Tx

Little dogs, like poms, only have a few inches between their tummy and the floor. Ours would climb our stone circular stairs and be with us all day. She got a cyst on her belly, so my father, a cheapskate, took her to the cheapest vet he could find. The vet killed her with anesthesia. She was our dear little Taffy, and I never could forgive my dad for her death. Don't let a little dog use stairs that their wee bodies can't clear. She was the sweetest dog I ever owned.
@shaneluke3465 жыл бұрын
That is realy cruel and discusting for what he did , as you say all your dog had was a CYST on her TUMMY that probably could of been treated . If he was a GOOD VET he WOULD'NT or SHOUĹD'NT of put your dog to sleep even if your dad asked him to 😥♿💔

I'm sorry I don't want to be a hater but IF you searched for 5 years after a suitable breeder and ended up buying your puppy from a backyard breeder you can't have looked very far..... Was the puppy cheaper than the breeder puppies you "looked" at? I was searching for good info as im intressted in getting a pom as a SD but I had to stop at "this puppy was not acctually from a breeder but som friends wanted puppies". All the best to you and I hope your dog lives a long happy life; you seem like a lovely person have a nice day!
@MrsKatieHeath5 жыл бұрын
hypnotherapy69 I don’t think that’s being a hater unless you meant it with malice haha. I think you have a very fair point. The breeders I was looking at didn’t work out for numerous different reasons, and it ended up being a gut decision that meant we chose to get Pepi from the people we did. I phoned so many breeders (good and bad) and people advertising Pom puppies who sounded a bit shady and the people that we bought Pepi from were the top of our list. I was on waiting lists with breeders but at the end of the day having an animal join the family is such a personal thing for the people involved and the animal, so after the logical checklist is all ticked (checking they’re not just churning puppies out etc), it literally comes down to a gut feeling and immediate bond between animal and human. 💗

Here is an excerpt from the CKC Breed Standard (that is the Canadian Kennel Club) regarding acceptable colours in the Pomeranian. Not saying there might be other colours as well. Also, first I heard of the Pomeranian originally being a white dog since orange is the most common colour now. Thirteen colours, or colour combinations, are permissible and recognized, namely: black, brown, chocolate, beaver, red, orange, cream, orange sable, wolf-sable, blue, white, particolour and black and tan. The beaver colour is a dark beige. A particolour dog is white with orange or black, colour distributed in even patches on the body, with white blaze on head desirable. Black and tan is black with tan or rust sharply defined appearing above each eye, in the ears, on the muzzle, throat, forechest, on all legs and below the tail. Where whole-coloured and parti-coloured Pomeranians compete together, the preference should, other points being equal, be given to the whole-coloured specimen. Sable-coloured dogs must be shaded throughout as uniformly as possible, with no self-coloured patches. In orange-sable, the undercoat must be a light tan colour with deeper orange guard hairs ending in black tippings. In wolf-sable the undercoat is light grey with a deeper shade of steel grey guard hairs ending in black tippings. A shaded muzzle on the sables is permissible, but a black mask on sables is a minor fault. Orange Pomeranians must be self-coloured throughout with light shadings of the same tone (not white) on breechings permitted. A black mask on an orange Pomeranian is a major fault. White chest, white foot, or white leg on whole-coloured dogs are major faults. White hairs on black, brown, blue or sable Pomeranians are objectionable. Tinges of lemon, or any other colour, on white dogs are objectionable. The above colours, as described, are the only allowable colours or combination of colours for Pomeranians.

What do you do with your puppy when you‘re going to work? How long could you leave a pom alone?

Leylah Luescher blogging is my full time job, so Pepi is pretty much with me 24/7. They’re ok to be left on their own, but I wouldn’t recommend it for longer than 4 hours a day as they’re so small and only have tiny bladders! 💗

I have two Half-Labs and they will be 14 in May. If I get another dog, it will be small. I have narrowed it down to either a Pom, a Shi-zu, or a Maltese.

When she said that sometimes pepi has to be hand fed, my greyhound had to be handled because when she got her leg amputated she wasn’t strong enough so we had to hand feed her and now she can’t get used to feeding herself, she always has to be hand fed. ☺️

What about rescue from the Dog and cat meat trade? Before they are made into stew or elizer , they are boiled Alive skinned alive electocuted Hung beaten. You can get a puppy too they like them for medicinal purpose. Think about it. Passion for compassion is one rescue or look up the dog and cat meat trade. Last chance for animals is another site rescue ... Many need a loving home if they are lucky to survive death. So that's. Good news

susan mcivor thank you for sharing! There are so many wonderful charities/rehoming sites to find dogs/puppies on. I can only speak for those I am educated enough to talk about, but hadn’t even thought of the dog meat trade. It’s horrific to think that something like that even exists! 💗

Katie KALANCHOE That’s what I do , we go to china and So Korea , Talk with the government try to some of the activists stop the trucks coming in with 100s of dogs mostly stolen pets with their collars on purebreeds stuffed into tiny cages like sardines anyways we rescue and shut down who we can , change has to come from within , they don’t eat them because they are poor quite the opposite as they drive up to a restaurant in their Mercedes and order dog stew made from any dog or cat sadly, laws have to come from within. But there are numerous rescues that send beautiful loving purebred dogs puppies Shih Tzu Pom Pom are the craze now Golden’s any breed you can think of and these dogs are the most loving dogs you have seen, they know, they know they have been saved . Just a little info on other options . You can read more on the dog meat trade and a law we are trying to pass here and overseas if you search Marc Ching ,... The Animal Angel is what we call him here. He has sacrificed his heart and mind to go into those. Places and see the Torture. You are never the same . Thank you for your info I initially looked up poms because they had a mixed one , She is under care for a skin ailment. So I was deciding what to do . Thank you for your help .

If there is someone in this comment section that has a pom, can you answer my question?... I’m thinking of adopting one in a week or so, so my question is, do they shed much? Like do they leave hairs on your shirt when you pet them? Please answer me :) ty
@MrsKatieHeath6 жыл бұрын
Eva Dun Hi Eva, congratulations! So we found that when Pepi was going through the ‘ugly’ stage as a puppy, she did shed a bit. Now that she’s got her adult coat though, she doesn’t shed much at all. Brushing them daily also helps stop the shedding. Hope that helps! X
