One of my more slow-burn gripes was that Toei had absolutely no respect for Super Saiyan God. Think about it: the first new form in a decade, one that purports to have given Goku the power of the GODS, something that even he has trouble really grasping. It was incredible when after the struggle to hold back Beerus, Goku finally finished the ritual and attained a divine form to trump everything he had previously. It was the first new DBZ moment in ages, and one loved by fans. Toei: Welp, let's not use it for 3 FREAKING ARCS! That was my biggest irk: the fact that SSJG was completely dropped until the ToP, and even then, it served no purpose. There was no situation where God was more useful than Blue, or where using God could've given an advantage. First Blue surpassed it (within one movie, I might add), rendering it useless, then Ultra Instinct comes out and overshadows both. My favorite DBS form and one that gave me hope for Dragon Ball's future, dropped into the wastebin. That's my biggest disappointment.

Exactly. It would be as if Goku unlocked SSJ2 in the first episode of the Cell arc, and and normal SSJ was never seen or heard of again.. It's such an immense waste of a perfectly built up transformation. They hardly even explained SSJ Blue, Goku and Vegeta just got it out of the blue (excuse the unintended pun). Sure it's explained they got it through training with Whis, but come on really? Just normal training and no build up? It's one of the most powerful, yet least impactful transformations so far in terms of viewer satisfaction. At least they got it right with Ultra Instinct and din't just shove it in our face right away and the outcome of it was amazing.

I mean, not to say that this wasn't actually the case, but the power gaps between the main characters and the "side" characters have been widening through the entire series, and is quite consistent (Goku compared to Krillin from when they first meet to the end of the manga is a perfect example). Therefore it would seem very plausible that those "lesser" characters would be deemed less important/useful in fights as the gap grows larger. Also, I assume you don't mean literally every other character than Goku, since that's not really true (Gotenks as well as Gohan training with the Kais being the focal point of, at least, half the buu arc with a little Mr. Satan thrown in the mix aswell).

My biggest gripe with the show is the overuse of SSB. The manga was smart enough to know when to save it for the big moments. If they wanted to go to a higher level, they’d go Super Saiyan 1 And 2. If it needed to, they’d use 3. If the enemy was too strong for that, they’d go to SSG. NOT SSB. The anime, (which at this point, I can totally understand why they’re spamming it so much,) keeps going down the wrong direction. Frieza said it himself. It’s Super Saiyan with blue hair dye. And I get the Ki Control part of it and how useful that is as well as how strong the form is in both the manga and the anime. Don’t get me wrong. But the manga doesn’t always assume SSB is the go to power for every fight after everyone on par or higher with Hit. Every time I saw it in the anime before Jiren came along, I just saw Goku and Vegeta assuming their new base form and almost forgot SS was a thing until the T.O.P.

My Biggest complain with the Story Arcs on their own, is that the Movie arcs are just put there for the sake of filling episodes, nothing more. Someone can literally skip these 2 arcs if he already saw the movies, and he wouldn't miss anything. They could've changed them in a more meaningful way, as much as possible for the db plot standarts, but no. Even the 3 og arcs, feel like separate plots, nearly completely un-related to each other. I actually would have liked if they stayed as Vegito for a little bit. It would really flush out his personality and mindset, rather than just “being cocky in battle since he’s so strong but slightly concerned at times”. I would like some depth in Vegito. Vegito kills Zamasu, and they get back to the regular timeline, with the Z gang asking V if he wants to wish to use to dragon balls to undo the fusion and he’d respond “even though it would probably work, I don’t mind staying like this for a few days.” Idk if he’d say something like that but, I’d wish they would keep Vegito around longer. And that would be a good rivalry between him and Beerus. Cuz alone Goku and Vegeta can’t beat Beerus, but combined, they both would be excited to fight each other. Anyone agree?

Vegito couldn't kill Zamasu. Zamasu was immortal enough to be unkillable, but not enough to fully regenerate the half of his body. He didn't have as much regeneration as when he wasn't fused but still had enough to never die unless his body got completely destroyed, in wich case he still was alive.

yeah I don't think you get it, it was stated that Roshi who retired in db/z was secretly training for some time, not just a couple of days. Not to mention there are a lot of things you seem to be missing, like Roshi was chosen because he was much more experienced and as the Tournament of power is about ring out and ko, so it was quite obvious why he was chosen. I remember them saying the reason of not choosing goten and trunks is because of their lack of experience. and in tournament of power killing will get you disqualified, so it's definitely a smart choice to bring a more experienced fighter rather than a less experienced fighter, and not to mention the fact that frost was literally toying with Roshi, and underestimated him, until roshi caught him by surprise, even then frost literally one shotted roshi and even said "This is rather difficult, Trying to pull my punches, so not to kill my opponents." so I find this argument rather silly.

Piccolo can't even beat Nappa and Nail isn't even 1/5 as strong as First Form Frieza: The two fuse and suddenly SECOND form Frieza is having trouble. Vegeta fights First Form Frieza and can only push him to a stand-still: Gohan knocks second form Frieza to the ground just because he got angry. Tienshinhan can't handle 17 and 18 at all: He's somehow able to output enough energy to hold back Cell after 17 has been absorbed and added to Cell's already superior power.

Kale is a little bland, but Califla has a bold and entertaining personality - she's like the female Goku. Kefla was an awesome fusion and very fun to watch; definitely one of the highlights of the series, so far. Now, Universe 6's Saiyans means of achieving SSJ was bogus - I agree there - but after they have the form, there really isn't any problem, to me. I mean, would you really have wanted more filler on the U6 Saiyans training to learn SSJ? I'm glad they just got to the fighting and stopped wasting time with filler - this tournament has been boring, overall.

what confuses me the most is Gohan. Sure, he didn't train for a few years but not training for a few years does not turn him into a useless toothpick. My favourite character through the dragon ball z series was always Gohan, even in the Buu saga. Without realizing it my favourite character turned to Vegeta in dbs, and every scene with Gohan made me want to smash my head on my desk. Yes, Gohan will be considerably weaker but the fact that he STRUGGLED to go to ssj annoys the living shit out of me. He was the strongest person in all of dragon ball in the Cell saga and was very strong in the Buu saga (if not the strongest after the old man unlocks his power or whatever happens I don't remember to well). The fact that Freeza whooped his ass in his first form makes me laugh, they really ruined Gohans character in super. Not to mention Pan, why the hell is she so strong? I liked it better when getting strong for the Saiyans was a challenge, now they feel a tingle and BOOM ssj. Pan shouldn't be able to fly, Gohan was strong as hell at 4 years old but still didnt fly, and you expect us that a 1 yr old baby (or however old Pan is) can fly? Ridiculous. I enjoyed dbs, but the amount of things that did not add up made it much less appealing to watch vs any other series in the dragon ball universe, not to mention how drawn out the tournament of power is. I thought the Buu saga was dragged out, but this series stretched the episodes as thin as possible. At least in the Buu saga it kept me on my toes, Buu changing into to kid buu and things like that kept me on edge. Oh, and android 17. Did the animals give you special powers or something, because he could not possibly be stronger then ssjb. Many complaints, to bad this had so much potential. I really enjoyed the idea of the gods and hwo the universe works, i found those bits actually really interesting.

Both feel like fanfiction for what could come after Z. Super never got to any of the most interesting what if's we got in Dragonball Z either. What happened with Oob? Didn't Goku wanna...like...refight Boo one day once he's reincarnated? That could've been a cool character. What the fuck is wrong with all the side characters getting SOME cool moments just to be told that they're dumb and pushed to the side in another? Why the hell is Jiren so incredibly generic, boring and got his story like...1 episode before the show ended? Man. It could've been so cool, instead it was just fanservice with a crapton of filler fluff, retcons and weird side characters that were, for the most part, very unlikeable. The saiyans from the other planet were just incredibly boring to me, the Broly-parallel was...A thing that didn't matter as much as anyone wanted it to, Super saiyan blue was supposedly all about perfect and full Ki control yet it's never used beyond "oh this lets me use the Kaioken together with Super Saiyan" and that's it. Super was just a hot mess of weird decisions. I still enjoyed it for what it is, but it's FAR from a good or even decent show. It drags on and on all over the place, has terrible animation for 2018 for most episodes but awesome animation in others, reuses OSTs over and over which also don't really remind you of either the unique Japanese or the ominous US ost...

DBGT indeed is a far better show than Super. Yes the old characters are completely sidelined, same goes for the majority of the z characters, yes it's mostly Goku-centric and Vegeta's characterization is better in Super; but GT has done things right : -DAN DAN KOKORO HIKARETEKU -The animation is consistely good. -The ssj4 is the ONLY new form introduced, through a reasonable process (Tail & waves bluetz > Golden Oozaru & control of the form > Ssj4) and is also badass-looking. -The plot is not as dumb as Super, we don't have Goku putting the universe on stake because he needs to fight, or a God used as a laaaaaaame plot device because the writers had screwed up everything.... -GT Goku is overall far more likeable than Super Goku, maybe because his childier attitude is justified since he's transformed back to a kid, but even then he's the more mature. -LASTLY (and more important) GT is a TRUE sequel to db, where the earth risking destruction truly means something, and the kids are all grown up.

I don't care about power levels or what nonsense but as said in the video, when someone transformed (or, got their hair done) it was supposed to be a big deal. It was either supposed to be a big build to it or hinted at and ...supposed to be a big jump in strength. Frieza was a progression of hopelessness. Every time you thought someone could stand against him he had an ace. He didn't even need to change the last time. He was crippling them but wanted to show off. Goku arrives and is doing really well, you think he might stand a chance! ...Nope, he's not even trying and Goku is going beyond his limits. Even with the most absurd genki dama to that point he STILL survived. Then Goku got his. Cyborg Frieza arrives on earth, pissed and stronger than before Trunks arrives and ruins him to show just how strong he is THEN to say "yeah, I lost, the bad guys coming are way beyond me and are going to murder all of you" (then the Cell season proceeded to be a mess but still carried progression) Buu arc happens and everyone is strong, they're showing it off. Gohan may have gotten SSJ2 but now you got kids going SSJ and the new bad guys are impressing Gods but not so much the team. Then Vegeta gets Majin'ed ...Goku and him square off at absurd strength beyond the Cell fight. Gohan takes on Buu and gets wrecked. Skip to super. God aura cant be sensed ...but Trunks is helping out anyway. Normal people look on these fights and some how can see what's going on. SSJ2 Goku trumps Zamsu but then later SSJB ...something HOW many forms ahead can't beat him and Black when SSJ2 was more than enough? (SSJ, 2,3,G,B) Nevermind Vegeta jumping in?? When Gohan got SSJ2 it was massive. The fight completely turned around. SSJB? Eh who cares, apparently. Is it REALLY hard to have ANY consistency in the show? SSJB is supposed to be incredible but it's constantly, bewilderingly outclassed even though it's apparently mastered? Didn't even give it the SSJ issues of strugging to change into it or having that awkward middle form. No, it's just amazing! (except it's crap)

Livin Legend No, but he IS showrunner and the main character designer. Most character designs in Super come from Toriyama, and he's the one coming up with the major plot points. It's up to Toei and Toyotaro to fill in the gaps between each plot point for the anime and manga respectively. But all the major events that happen are from Toriyama's brain. And as for him thinking it's garbage, I have evidence to the contrary. The first volume of Dragon Ball Super's manga. Say what you will about the manga. But the end of Volume One contains an interview Toriyama and Toyotaro underwent at some point. In that interview, Toriyama said he quite likes how the manga is turning out. He thinks Toyotaro's panels are tight, and that he likes how he doesn't need to ask Toyotaro to change anything, like he does with Toei. So while he may find the anime garbage, I think I just proved that he at least likes Super's manga.
