Recent realization: Future's verse on "Kings Dead" is probably the highlight of the song. Going off the hype of Jay rock, the verse is memorable to anyone who hears it. First listen it is childish at best, but it sticks. I think that is why Kendrick and Company kept it in the final cut, listening to it multiple times, I can see how they could look at it and say "Yup, this is worth publishing. Too fun to let it go"

Playboi Carti’s “artfulness” comes from the noisiness and unorthodox song structures. Tracks like RIP, Lean 4 Real, and Fell In Luv have overwhelming bass, super heavy and engulfing melodies, and above all just constant ad-libs. Its a record a lot like Lil Ugly Mane’s Mista Thug Isolation, full of so many different layers and details in the sounds and phrasal structure

I've been defending Wasting Light pretty much ever since it came out. I don't know if it was due to Dave Grohl getting back in touch with Butch Vig or just the overall barebones, raw approach to the songwriting (or a combination of the two) but in that moment it almost seemed like the Foo Fighters had gotten their self-titled/The Colour and the Shape spark back. Turns out that wasn't true but regardless, it's definitely a good and really fun album that I still go back to every once in a while. One of the worst things about the Foo Fighters' continued output of forgettable material is making a lot of people forget just how much of a great songwriter Dave can be.
