A number of people on here asking why the Bee Gees walked out. It actually started before the interview. Clive Anderson had a reputation of getting laughs at the expense of his guests. The Bee Gees initially refused to do the show, but they were assured that no - Clive was a huge fan and he wasn't going to do that to them. A lot of the context is missing because it started earlier in the interview. The band at one point had put "Le Tosseurs" on their door as a joke (long story there) and Barry made reference to that joking "before we were the Bee Gees, we were Le Tosseurs." Anderson replied"You'll always be Tossers to me" (tosser being an insult in the UK). At that point, you can immediately see that Barry sensed that Anderson was about to do what he always does - laughs at the expense of his guests. Barry is clearly angered. He repeatedly made jokes about the music they produced in the Saturday Night Fever period, including such "witty" repartee as saying that although he didn't like that music, his dog did. At one point, trying to subtly tell Clive to back off, Barry said about their music "well - they're like our babies." It went right over Clive's head. What we see in the video is relatively small and would not have been anything at all if it were not for what had already occurred, and the sense that as Barry indicated as he left that they had been "set up." What we hear on this video is the last straw... When Barry mentions one of their songs "Don't Forget to remember Me" (Carrie Underwood did a remake in '09), Anderson quipped "I forgot that one." That was it for Barry. He says something I can't make out, then "I may just leave..." and does so. He turns back to Anderson and says "Your the tosser, pal." and then a few seconds later "We were set up." You can see more of the interview here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5XZl6B9hamJoc0

The fact that he did drugs doesn't mean he was an asshole. Also, most of the time people thought he was trying to fuck with them but really, he was just a prankster. If you dive a bit deeper and do some research about his life, you'll see he was really sensitive and kind. I am not trying to defend him because I am a fan of his music, I am defending him just because people seem to attack him all the time for the simple fact that he was a junkie and he took his life. He had a pretty crappy childhood and suffered from severe mental illness. I am suffering from chronic depression and Borderline personality disorder myself so I know what it's like. He was lied to. Outright. You get brought onto a show to get involved in a comedy shtick that he already made an opinion that it wasn't the right platform for them. They were promised there wouldn't be any jokes of that nature, and yet here they were, on television. A man making jokes about music that they worked their butts off for. That's not why they signed on. It's okay to have an opinion on how they reacted. Nothing wrong with that. Just having that realization, on National Television, and in front of an audience? I must say again, I do NOT blame them. If Barry and Robin were too uncomfortable, they had their right to leave. It's as simple as that. ( Also, I have to say that compared to the other walk-outs on this list, they were more on the polite end. )

I remember when that happened. The stage where they were was up high and Madonna was being interviewed. Then someone was throwing crap from below on the street. It was a high as fuck, attention seeking Courtney Love. Loder than said "let's bring her up" hoping for an MTV moment. Madonna Cleary said "that's not wise". So Love makes it upstairs and goes on nonsensical rant. Madonna makes a comment about Love's drug addiction. Love gets thrown off my that comment. Loder realizes he made a mistake. Madonna leaves and now Kurt Loder is stuck with a loony. But they cut the whole thing quick after Madonna leaves.

The Madonna/Courtney thing was worse than what they showed here. It was an interview with Madonna, then a shoe came flying over and they saw it was Courtney. Kurt Loder says “should we let her come up?” and Madonna said “no please don’t.” Courtney comes up and starts babbling incoherently. Madonna gets increasingly annoyed. Madonna leaves.
@justinb9545 жыл бұрын
Robert D'Amico--This was a really tense moment and she was furious with Kurt Loder. She may still be pissed. Madonna took the low road. She has had an air of irrelevance and a English stick in her ass for over 2 decades. It was a MAC make-up compact. Not a shoe. It doesn't look like the make up was working for Love that night. What's even funnier is Courtney Love played Madonna in "Basquiat" as Big Pink. Pink Scarfed.

His most and arguably only real successful interviews are ones that he did with Black Veil Brides, in particular ones with Andy Biersack (lead singer) in it, but that is just because Andy is actually quite profound when given good questions, but is also funny too. I admit in one interview when it was Andy and CC (the drummer)and Bryan was just asking Andy all the questions because he's the more popular one, but Andy tried to subtly divert more questions over to CC so as it wasn't a total waste of time for him, but Bryan has a habit of asking just one band member all the questions, which I believe if memory serves me correctly is exactly what he did with avenged sevenfold. He just doesn't seem to realise when he's excluding people.

Yet, the genders were not switched. Don't get me wrong, if that made him uncomfortable, he should show it and I'm glad he did, but being a sex symbol comes with the territory of being a musician, particularly musicians in genres like Prince's. Although I find it odd he would take so much offense to it. Most would take it as a compliment and move on. If it was something that kept happening, I would understand. At that point it's basically sexual harassment. Well, gotta take a stand somewhere, I guess. Otherwise people will start thinking it's okay to talk to you that way.
