Also another tip is not to rush into pointe. Yes it looks fun and pretty on stage but it's very dangerous if not done correctly.

I cannot stress this one enough! I was really excited when I first went on pointe, but once I actually started dancing on pointe I realized that it was SO much harder than it looks. Truly, if I hadn't worked hard to stretch and strengthen my feet and ankles, I would be severely injured.

@@allegra9496 I was 11 I think when I first got my pair of pointe shoes back in 2006 and honestly I thought it was the best thing ever until I had my first pointe class. The young dancers where I dance at I try to help them understand why they have to wait till they can get their pointe shoes.

But redhead ballet dancer Mackenzie Davis took ballet classes only once a week for several years right before getting her first pair of pointe shoes. 🎭🩰🎨

Just wanted to say I started dancing when I was five and didn't get my pointe shoes until I was seventeen! But I was actually ready for them when I did get them. Also, I always felt like I was bottom of the class and then I moved to university and for the first time I was actually in the upper third of the group and felt a lot more confident. Body dysmorphia struggles are so hard and I don't want to speak too much into something I don't have masses of experience on but honestly there's nothing wrong with progressing at a slower pace and sometimes something will happen that will really change your perspective. Your technique might be weaker than other students but maybe your artistry or your musicality is much better. You might not have strong ankles but maybe you're flexible. I don't know you so I can't identify these things for you but I promise that you have strengths and there will be people in your class who think 'I wish I could do x like Isabella' or things about you that teachers love, even if it's "just" that you're always on time, always polite etc. x

ayayay body dismorphia. i got that too, but i am a 24 yo guy. it gets better, eventually, but a lifetime of not accepting one's body has consequences of course, it is taking time for me. Love yourself, you are eprfect the way you are, naturally, honestly. You just hace to realize, and i bet you will get there a lot sooner than i!!!

I love your content....both the silly 'types of dancers" on over to the serious tips of how to follow the habits that you had as a beginning dancer! We would never know how direct and achievable your basics are! you are so young in years, but so wise as a person who has been in her field for 16 years! Thank you.-- I'll use these tips as I work on learning Salsa 💃💃💃💃💝

hi mackenzie! i luv ur vids sm and they encouraged me to do ballet and now I have improved sm and ballet is a big part of my life! i have a few questions because teachers always tell me to not arch my back. I'm trying to not do that but whenever I add that correction, I lose all my posture at barre. i just need tips on how to not arch my back and keep my tailbone down while still looking like a normal, functioning ballerina

So I started in October last year and now I will have my first break because of holidays for several weeks. I'm planning on doing something at home, just basic stuff where I hope I won't hurt myself without a teacher. Do y'all have any recommendations on how often per week? How do you stay fit during holidays? How often do you stretch? I feel like I'm more likely to overdo it in most cases, so I would be very greatful for any shared experiences :)
