I decided not to put back most of the pictures after we got the place painted leaving 2 paintings that we really love and the big tv mounted on the wall that we both enjoy. I took out 3/4 of the décor items leaving the ones that really bring me joy. It feels clean, uncluttered and calm like a nice hotel. I kept it neutral with a few pops of sage green and pale teal. The couch and chairs are all IKEA in washable white cotton slipcovers. I kept 2 soft feather pillows with washable velvet covers (got rid of the rest) and 3 textured throws in coordinated neutrals. The lampshades are a beautiful texture and colour while the bases are crystal. I use warm white lightbulbs. Lighting and texture are my priorities. I don’t have any extra pillows or throws on our bed but I love the crisp cotton duvet cover and sheets. I have one painting over the dresser and a photo collage on the walls and a fabric headboard. No tv.

We have the most cozy thing of all. We have a woodstove in our house. Pets lay around it it’s warm and we sit by it every evening watch TV or Read.❤❤❤

The best thing I have done since becoming an empty nester is to clean the main part of our house Friday immediately after work. I put in some loud music and clean for an hour or 2 and I’m done by 7. It makes the weekend so much better having a clean and calm place.

I agree with you Ashlynne, clutter and mess scattered everywhere does distraught feelings of calm in a home and makes it difficult to relax. I love love my home to be tidy but my husband has alot of stuff and my husband doesn't like to donate. So my home has my husband's stuff scattered everywhere in our home and this makes it difficult for me to relax and unwind after a long day of working!! One day hopefully my husband will let go of stuff that he is not using. Then we can have a tidy home! Thank you Ashlynne for these tips to make my home cozy!! ❤️❤️❤️

Oh my goodness, this is exactly what I needed, my grandkids and daughter live with me, and when I get home from work it’s very stressful, I go in my bedroom to get away, I love my grandkids and I don’t want to sweat the small stuff. For where I'm at currently, I do have a TV in my room that I only use about half the time. One thing I'm willing to implement once I move out next year into my first apartment is to not have a TV in my bedroom because I want to further minimize distractions/media time before bed. Great ideas! 👍❤️ I’m very visual but touch is super important and definitely smelling clean and fresh. I love washable slipcovers, a clutter free space that’s easy to dust and clean. I have asthma so flowers, candles and scents are a serious problem but keeping it clean and opening windows for fresh air works well.

Another wonderful video. I like to light scented candles, I have some really nice ones that put me in a autumnal mood, I spend screen free time by reading books or writing in my journal. I'm in the process of making my bedroom more of a peaceful place so that I can unwind better. Currently deciding whether to remove the TV from my room or keep it in.

I still have to declutter the bedroom, but to make the livingroom cozy I love to have flowers, candles and books. A beautiful little piece on a table that I create for the season, like for now there is a slice of wood with some fake mushrooms, leaves, pumpkins and some little gnomes. The rest of the house still have to be changed but I’m saving up for that.

We decided to put our tv in a room other than our living room. Now when guests walk in they see our piano and the coziness we have created there. We spend more time playing games and talking than watching tv anyways, and that’s what we wanted.
