Though we are only 2 people in the house I like to setup my cozy corner to read or write a diary near the window.. it can be different places at different times, sometimes a cozy chair in a balcony watching the sunset.. sometimes seating in the garden outside my house.. sometimes seating in the swing chair watching the full moon.. 😊

I think a lot of people are afraid of trying minimalism because they don’t think it will be comfortable but here’s proof that it can be comfortable and as cozy as you want :)

Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰 lovely, following your journey with minimalism/decluttering and recently a more conscious journey towards essential living! All your points are valid and to the point 💪👍😉Just one comment in regards to the term 'hygge'. It's more and deeper than cosy and probably happening all over the world 🌎. In Danish, the term 'hyggelig ' is means to an end because it's an repetitive event to help surviving and thriving in a busy world, a conscious proces that happens over and over and over - living and doing the opposite to live well and avoid burn out in the short time that we're here in this life. 'Hyggelig', not 'hygge' nor 'hygga' ! it's an ongoing process to be 'hyggelig' 😉😘

I personally have been finding myself using different decor pieces that used to belong to a family member (most of which comes from a grandmother on both sides of my family) as a way of decorating, and it really just adds little touches of uniqueness and sentimentality within my space. I also really love throw blankets btw; I have 3 that I use interchangeably for when it's cooler outside or during the winter months 😊
@AshlynneEaton2 жыл бұрын
Oh I love that! And that’s such a great idea of having different thicknesses of throw blankets 🤍

One of my favorite ways to welcome family/friends into my home is to give them a quick tour! Make sure guests know where the bathroom is so they don't have to ask later. In the kitchen, show them where they can get cups and water. I also like to point out where our Nespresso machine is and show them how to use it so they can have a cup of coffee anytime without asking.

As far as a home being inviting. If you are having guests (especially overnight), take time to give them a ‘tour’ your home. Show them where items are (example: towels, washcloths, extra toilet paper). Open the refrigerator, show snacks, drinks, and remind guests to help themselves. When they feel welcome and familiar with your home, they tend to find the comfort there that you do. Always ASK guests if they are hungry or need a refreshment (water). Think of ways that you yourself like to be treated when in other peoples homes. 😊

Great tipps Ashlyne, thank you. Do you have some ideas for a small guest bathroom? Ours is very cool toned (grey tiles, white walls, black furniture and decoration, silver mirror and some green plants), minimal and not as cozy as I wanted it to be. We tried a light green wall colour but I didn't like it. There is a window, so it's a light room. I'm not sure how we can make it more inviting without adding too much stuff.

I would say adding some wood tones could help a lot! Also maybe adding towels in a fun/interesting color?

For people who do not like browns- use cream instead of white with your greys and blacks. You can keep the cool tones you love and still warm it up. White can look super chilly. Cream is simple but warm.

I agree with everything with the exception of the colour schemes. I really enjoy darker colours and find them more relaxing. I love the darker colours that can be found in nature. I find lighter colours to be a little cold. But that is a personal opinion and I know I am in a very small minority.
@AshlynneEaton2 жыл бұрын
I think that definitely still stick to the heart of that tip! Whether you are drawn to darker or lighter colors, I think the ones that are nature-inspired tend to be a bit cozier 🤍🥰
