I've been watching your channel for over 6 years now... you made me switch from sports bikes to Adventure bikes. I now travel and the enjoy journey so much. Prepping is always important.

On a longer trip with a group, I usually remind riders that every minute we waste is 1 km. Yes, time is distance. As a group, entering a place you have to be effective and ready to order and be positioned to move again in short order. At the end of the day it may not be as important but early in the day, lolly gagging around is like spending too much of your budget at the beginning of the trip. More time gives you more time to find free camping or cost effective hotels. Protecting the bike is critical. We can find ourselves well beyond any sort of walking distance. So, yes that means making good decisions and yes on maintenance. Another great video. Thanks.

Every minute is 1 KM? Sounds exhausting 😄

@ The time/distance calculation is based on riding the Dempster where the average speed of the one way 880 km remote gravel/shale road is probably around 70 kph.

Never travel with a rider who smokes. You loose a 100km a day at least.

The main thing I like about this channel is you bring up points that sometimes fly in the face of conventional wisdom and I find myself agreeing

So many really useful points. We have two trips ahead, so thanks. Not thinking about home is one I never thought of but so relevant.

All true. Stay focused take care of machine watch money and enjoy the trip. Home will be there and it won't be a damn bit different from when you left. Their lives go on. Yours's is beginning.

Did you need to negotiate the hotel prices while in Russia, or the initial prices were already low enough?

Usual good advice. But you are so lucky to have the internet. 35 years ago we couldnt plan even short term or get weather forecasts. We had lonely planets guides but often out of date. I dislike the term adventure, whether for a journey or genre of bike. You are travellers.
