Water collectors are no longer invulnerable against mutants, though they are invulnerable against cannibals. Stick trees can sometimes be cleared when you build over though, though you have to build low on them for them to be cleared, the collision on them stops about half way up, meaning the wont clear and they’ll poke through your floor boards if your floors are too high on them, best to avoid them.

For easy gaming, build near the yacht. Lots of trees, lots of sticks, lots of anything and you can sleep in the yacht. For beginners it is the best place to be. That is what I did in my first playthrough. If you want to have a save spot, build near the ocean. You can always jump in the water if it is getting to crowded. But watch out for sharks.

actually, the patrol route is right above the beach. if you wonder to get tree's only then you can get attacked. almost no chance of them gooing thought the beach. I've build on the beach infront of the yacht

DoXy DoXy I built on the beach near the yacht and I'm getting attacked with like 15-20 cannibals per day., and was getting like 5-8 per day on day 4. Also if you look at the patrol route map there is the green line that goes right over the beach, depending on where you build on said beach really matters. In my game they are coming from two main directions, from the path to the beach from the tree with the gun part and from the direction of the patrol route that heads towards the main village.

5:10 I build my first base here without looking any tutorials and soon I realized that it's middle of a cannibal highway. Though later, I can't think of a better place to build because of the great amount of action, bones, sticks, birds, logs, effigies and rope. There is also a great cave ( entrance seen in the video) which supplied beer and watches.

The best place ive found is at -1100 550, right next to a little fresh water fish pond, just south of it. Don't get attacked too much plus it has a Huge natural defense cliff behind around, and deer everywhere. The main cannibal village is just a zip line and a little jaunt to the southwest.

I just started playing The Forest about 3 days ago, and my spot actually lists everything to me on the list. I'm on the beach next to the yacht. Someone else said it in the comments but I indeed slept in the yacht until my defenses were up. And if enemies appear I just jump into the water. It also only has 3 entrances and I noticed that the cannibals never enter through the left side of the beach. And the other 2 I simply blocked off and it has worked out great so far for me. Only a skinny cannibal will rarely get through but once I jump into the water they lose sight of me and walk straight out of my base, and thus straight into my traps, killing them :p

When first learning the game, places that were not busy and preferably had no spawns. Last game we built all over the map. We started in a place we hadn't built before and did a tree house near a pond. Then we took over various villages and turned them into resort campsites. We named each one based on what type of camper it was set up for (business retreat, family, romance, scout training). We were going to do every village and interesting view site, but our server updated and deleted the game. High traffic villages kept us in bone armor. We all learned that soloing those places was a skill we had neglected. I don't know if you've tested multiplayer cannibal attacks. In our game the cannibals didn't attack me and went after the players that hit them. I would get jump scares but it was very rare to be hit. I did my best not to fight them for as long as possible. Eventually I'd have to start killing them as it was the only way to keep the other players alive.

I build on the island at 3:04, just because I don't want my base getting messed up. It's great because I use a zipline to get logs to it from the cliffs across the water, and there's 2 deer and a lot of lizards in the little bay area from your latest season where you made the elevator and giant roof-ramp, and four turtles every morning. It does get boring though not actually fighting much.

I really like that you take into account that some people want their land and base to look good. That's the first thing I tried and I can't seem to find a good looking enough area to build so it kind of helps to know that pros like yourself still see that people are gonna want to build on land that looks visually pleasing. We've just started the game with my friend and I gotta say we hit jackpot with our base, judging by this video(if it's still relatable). At 2:04 below the sinkhole on the right, there's a pond and a small waterfall, we've secured that place. Easy to cut the passages with walls, we have water, a lot of trees and stick bushes, deers, rabbits, it's not a in a patrol route, but close to them, so we can engage if we wanted to, there are villages and caves nearby. Plus the scenerey is amazing aswell. :)

Build off or near cannibal rotes but not on them, away from the things they set down as they'll just respawn when you log back in. Build near the sea within the green area for sticks and with trees nearby. Then finally a place that calls out to you. Perhaps southeast? I don't have a PC, I just enjoy watching people play. But when I had a PC before it broke I played the alpha, tiny island but the cannibals still scary af.

I built on a cliff pretty far south on the map that has TONS of Sticks, Logs, and animals. My only problem is that it’s slightly unappealing I do get attacked pretty occasionally but it adds to the fun, plus I’ve gotten good at hiding from them

Best location I have found so far is taking over Cave 3(Modern Axe Cave) and the outside area. It covers every single criteria listed here and it is easily defensible with liberal use of deadfall traps and building a cover for the area outside of Cave 3. Once set up it is easy mode and you can even farm mutants for creepy armor by luring them down into a kill zone from the main cannibal village.

my favorite place to build is usually the western beach, just a bit south of the shipping containers. I reason it's near the cloth cave and the arrow camp (looking it up, it's Submerged Cave and the Film Crew Camp), a steady supply of turtles for water collectors if they're needed, and the beach provides a good amount of space to build. It just takes a bit of a walk to get into the forest for trees and sticks.

5:40 that's where I'm building my base at the moment (just above the pond), I've built a lift next to the rock side so it's easy to get loads of logs, and I have the chainsaw which makes it even easier. Also I'm on about day 8 and I have not seen a single cannibal/mutant from where I am, I can hear this weird witch type scream every now and then but I have no idea where it comes from.

I wanted to find my own good base and I think my base will be at the spot where if you start at the big lonely dead tree on the hill next to the yacht and go straight down the hill till you hit the pond and turn right about 2-3 o’clock and head to the little pond. It is close to a patrol route apparently according tot his video but it has so much sticks and fish and rabbits and lizards and trees and aloe and it’s nice and flat land with pockets of places almost like a Glade where it’s clear land. Plus there is a pot right next to it so every time I spawn in I should have a new pot. I was thinking there or this open glade behind cave 4 and before cave 2 (the main cannibal village) not as many sticks right there but they would be close enough to get , there’s deer, rabbits, lizards and expandable place, has a cliff so somewhat Natural defenses, close to the modern machete and the cannibal village to raid. But pretty big to defend and definitely on a patrol route.

There's a large tree to the south between the yacht and cargo container is where I built my first base. Some annoyances with patrols so you'll probably need to get a wall up, but with the ocean and cliffs, you'll probably only need to build 3 sides. Lots of marigold in the area. As I've explored, I've built numerous bases through the map. I'm nearly 200 days and I haven't even progressed at all of trying to see my son. Just finding areas to wall off just to build more bases. Use terrain to your advantage, try building walls where your base is uphilil, makes it harder for cannibals to jump over them (Although that's pretty rare). Seal off all avenues they can enter, you'd be surprised how much land you can have for yourself to build just by sealing off a few accessible areas, although get the chainsaw before you do this as it can get pricy with logs. Finally, once you get some experience, start building more custom housing, its pretty fun!

a bit late but there is an area in the fertile lands in the southeast corner of the map that personally meets all these criteria. its right next to a green stick area which also has a bunch of trees, sits on a patrol route, has a cliff you could build up against, is pretty in my opinion because there's the river and you can see the mountains, has two nearby ponds, is just above sea level, and its right next to the main cannibal camp too so cloth, arrows, paint, meds, bones, and so on are easily farmable. Also because it's the fertile lands, rabbits and one of every plant type spawns there.

I set up my home on the small little strip of land you can swim out to in the southwest corner, the one not too far off the shore. I set up a very makeshift dock to transport logs across (still beginner, didn't realize the boat thing) and basically things are going pretty well!! it's just annoying getting the logs over there. I'm not directly on a patrol path but rather I'm close to one so if I wanna go hunt some cannibals down, I sure as heck can. I'm pretty proud of it.

I built my main base around the plane and my spawn point was pretty great, next to geese lake so within my walls I have the camp with all the arrows and every time I go into the save everything respawns. I haven't had much problem with cannibals yet and I haven't seen a single mutant weirdly enough. TONS of sticks and it's pretty heavily forested surrounding - well not anymore, I have contributed to deforestation. I built a perimeter all the way down to the lake and a decent way around the plane too so I have a ton of space. A lot of blueberries within my walls too

Thank you ] I immedeately fell in love with SW bit between yacht, anchor and white tree [yellow zone on your sticks map] near the small cascade waterfall to the beach. Not gonna leave any soon. Have good supply of bones, fish, tortoises, rabbits, birds, sticks, logs, etc. there. Built a stone route to plane tail and walk it down once in a while to see whats up there and hunt. For my first playthrough, my plane crashed right outside the main cannibal village. I set up camp there, then wondered why I always seemed to get swarmed. Seeing the patrol routes, I now understand why.

There is a cliff with a decent sized area at the bottom of it near the largest cannibal village, you don't have to build anything to get up or down and there are loads of trees and sticks at the top, there is also a destroyed boat that will spawn rope on every world load, it's in my opinion one of the best locations in the game (although a decent amount of enemies spawn at the top, i didn't get anything other than Base cannibals until about day 15) The area also spawns lots of deer and the building space at the bottom spawns lots of turtles

In our first playthrough with friends, we did not know about the enemy mechanics like the patrol routes etc. We built a base next to the yacht because it seemed like a good place. Then we wanted more meat and moved elsewhere and built next to a beautiful pond. It was the pond right next to the baby cave... Every night we were visited by the cannibals and every now and then Armsy, Virginia and Cowman trio would visit. Luckily we turned off building destruction so we kind of cheated and killed them from behind our safe walls. :D

I’m building dead in the forest between the geese lake, the prayer tree on top of the hill by the yacht, the small cannibal village next to the hanging cave with the big lake right by it and the sinkhole. Like dead in the middle sort off. About southeast of @4:10. Whats annoying is I’m on ps4/Ps5 and when I make rock pathways it doesn’t clear out the way. Is there a work around for this?

I built my massive base right next to the main cannibal village on the cliff near the edge of the village. Resources are plentiful there and since we are directly on a few patrol routes, creepy armor is plentiful (provided you have the weaponry, i would reccomend molotovs as they are the best weapon against mutants) and there is water nearby. I would highly advise you to base there.

The place infront of the cliff on the opposite side of the katanga cave is the best area. No cannibals spawn there, its near a village so lots of effigies pop up for easy cloth, and the katanga cave is stocked full of soda, bomb parts, food and bataries. Plus it's near a lil pond for water, near the ocean for turtle shells, and by the waterfall is a dense forest packed full of sticks and trees. Just need to build a Dock to get across.

In my first play through I'm currently on, my plane crashed literally 20 feet from the main village. Ended up currently building on the peninsula with the big tree you showed a few times. However gathering logs can be a chore- and dodging the constant mutants now that I'm near day 30 is a massive turn off. Cowboys and virginias almost daily.

In my current game I'm building a Fort on the Eastern Plateau area (I don't know the official name, but it's that plateau far east with the two lakes on it) I found out the hard way it's difficult to get sticks. That was until I built a zipline to cross the southern river. I often import sticks from there, 78 at a time.

I built my base on the cliff east of the bay the yacht is in. It's a horrible base spot, as patrols are very frequent there and it's quite far from water. The good news is that its reasonably close to cave 2 (very useful for dynamite, sodas, meds and circuit boards), the main village (for gasoline, flares, arrows, dynamite and sodas), and the yacht (for snacks, ropes and air canisters)

My tip is always building a base around a squeeze-in cave. When shit gets real bad, you can enter the cave and nobody else can follow you, and your base is pratically protected from destruction. I always build my base around the Submerged Cave. Only 2 cannibals respawn inside and they are after a wood barricade, so the previous space until them is 100% enemy free. There is also another exit by a climbing rope. You can build inside the cave like garden for mushrooms, bed, chair, fire and so on. When the need emerges, flee to inside the cave, save your game and wait for the things calming down. There is about 3 lakes near the Submerged Cave entrance, and another with a waterfall that is deep enough to wash yourself, and there is also water inside the cave for bathing.

I built right in front of the cargo containers. Built my house kinda in the ocean/beach and the main wall taking up most of the beach into the ocean. They can't swim around, so it's great. Logs, sticks and my plane crash aren't far off and the patrol route in front means bones for days. Great location, I think anyway.

Whenever I play this game, I always build in this one spot of beach that cannibals are unable to reach naturally (except if you're playing on the hardest mode that has the flying mutant). Only way cannibals can reach it is if they fall down when they lunge at you while chasing you there. The spot I'm talking about is on the lower end of the map, right below the spot where the gun part is buried next to a boulder, trees and a cliff.

I'm actually installed in the middle of the geese lake, and after 60 days, I still had no problem at all with the mobs. And it's on hard mode. There's no direct connection to my house, so, cannibals can't reach it. And mutants usually drown before they reach the foundations of my house. Of course, it means either swimming or ziplines to reach and leave my house. The only real issue is that I spent so much time building my house that now, leaving it to find some ropes is super hard. The house is a safe zone (until the worm spawns), but the moment I go a bit further, there are patrols everywhere, since it's late game. And mutants appear regularly, too.

I built my main base literally on the ocean. I used the yacht as the center and build from there. I don’t get attacked by cannibals nor by the super mutants. However establishing small camps during the first phase of construction will be vital to building a large successful base out at sea.

I chose a clearing that’s literally just north of geese lake, right next to the entrance to Lawyer’s Cave that you have to squeeze through a gap to get into which has a tent in it so I placed a bunch of skull lamps through the cave to the tent and used it as a temporary shelter while I was building my base

Hey Farket or anyone experienced with the game I’d appreciate some help. If you go to 3:30 on the video you see the lake right? I have a base that crosses over it I’ve made a bridge and heavily fortified the base and I don’t know if it’s just me or if that’s a heavily patrolled area. On the left side I occasionally have some pale ones at the cannibal camp there and armsies spawn there at night. And on the right side there’s almost always pale ones, normal cannibals, the pig mutant thing is there every now and then aswell as the squid monster thing. I’m a returning player from the Alpha back in 2014 or 2015 and I’d love to get some help thanks!

I'm on first play through and I built near the airplane SE of the butthole...bad idea. I headed due east by the two level cliffs...tons of logs, sticks, rabbits, turtles, lizards. Good isolated area. I've now been there 20 days and not once had a patrol come by. I build drop log traps along the entrance, but never used once yet. Main cannibal base is SW of my location very close and still nothing. Nice view of the ocean, resources galore, I love it.

Seems there is a patrol route through the 'fertile lands' now... is a shame as it was one of the few places I could go when not wanting to be constantly bothered as I have a small setup there for collecting rabbits etc. Although it could be just targeted attacks as the aggression level seems quite high now haha

There might be, the fertile lands became very popular as a safe place to build so they may have made a patrol there. Though I think your right in that its targeted attacks. Don’t keep a fire there and also keep buildings there under 50. Might help.

I just realized my base is right next to THE MAIN CANNIBAL CAMP. Also it`s day 33 and I still haven`t seen a single cannibal near the base. Oh, and I thought that bonfires scare away cannibals so I lit 3 of them every night, but still nothing :D

Safe beach on the far east coast or geese lake for beginners. Ample resources, relative safety and ease of access to most caves. For more advanced players, the sheer cliffs of the snow biome or isolation island for a fortress build. Arctic lake is also always good for more experienced people.

Goose lake. on the water. EZ mode and can have ziplines in and out of the base, and access to soooo many areas nearby. patrols can be lured into the water using the rocks to instantly kill them

Yeah sticks, that stick map is nice. Just yesterday I was looking for a place to build and I looked at some maps which pointed at good places to build, the most appealing location to me was on a cliff close to the sink hole (marked on this map as orange) and there were no stick trees in the area... And to make matters worse on myfirst night there I saw a mutant patrol with 2 virginias and an armsy like right next to it (but below the cliff) so running over to the green areas to gather sticks is not going to be very fun... or safe... I do know of one really good spot to build however that has both natural defenses and easy access to resources. On the top right edge of the green zone on that stick map (where there's a little V shape where it meets the ocean) there's a an area where you can build in various fun ways, and it's also a pretty beautiful place. There is I think one mutant spawn somewhere in that general area though. But if you're feeling ambitious it can be turned into quite a pretty fortress.

I built west of the main camp next to a smaller camp with like 5 to 8 suit cases and on ps4 the suitcases respawn when ur asleep we turn structure damage off and made huge wood walls around our area there's a patrol fruit so plenty of bones great spot

my favorite spot to build is 341 211 it has fresh water with the tiny stream it has rabbit spawns close by isnt on any patrol routes but is close to some and even on day 30 im only getting attacked by mutants maybe once every 4 days there is a route that mutants like to take behind the house but since you have the pit you only have to defend 3 sides of the house from them it also has lots of sticks and logs and plenty of deer
