I am learning Spanish at the moment and I found that it is usually a lot easier to understand tv shows that have been dubbed into Spanish than the ones which are originally in Spanish. In the original ones I usually still need the (Spanish) subtitles to follow along, but in the translated ones, I can get by without. There are several reasons for this: for one thing, since no one speaks as fast as Spanish speakers do, they have to slow down a bit to match the syllables to the mouth movements and the writers of the dialogue tend to use slightly simpler words and phrases. Also, voice actors are usually trained to have a very clear and standardized pronunciation. While that is something that makes dubbed shows sound off and stilted to the native speaker, it is very useful when you are learning the language. Plus, for technical reasons, background noises are reduced, again, making it easier to follow the dialog. The downside is that the Spanish subtitles very often don't match the words which are actually spoken, because dialog and subtitles are usually translated by different people. So switching on the subtitles on a dubbed show will probably confuse you more than it helps. Netflix is a great resource for both original Spanish shows as well as for international ones dubbed into Spanish. I am currently watching Shadowhunters in Spanish for example, because that is a show which I enjoyed a lot when I watched it in English.

My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Here in the Philippines we have lots of words same in Spanish because we've been also colonized by Spain, sadly the Spanish which is our first offical language from 15th century to 19th century were gone, I don't know why but my grandparents abuelo abuela are really fluent in Spanish, most filipinos back then can really speak spanish, today they want Spanish to taught again in schools, as spanish is part of our history!
