y’all- this actually works. I’ve been an amateur nail artist for about a year and my main problem is ALWAYS chipping. the holo taco top + base coat is actually magic. My manis lasts a good 2 weeks with barely any chips...it’s amazing.

Y'all these tips really DO work. I painted my nails two weeks ago and I'm moving this weekend, so I've been doing ALL sorts of things with my hands that I shouldn't do if I want my mani to last (picking up heavy boxes that don't have handles, using my nails to peel up the corner of a tape roll, doing LOTS of cleaning so my hands are often soaked in water) and my nails still somehow look pretty great???? There's only a minimal amount of chipping, and it's mostly on my index and middle fingers. There were also multiple moments in my move where I was SURE I had broken a nail, but when I looked, either nothing had happened or some nail polish chipped off. Using nail polish saves nails!!!!

I’m a teacher, always using my hands and constantly either washing them or using hand sanitizer and I can get a weeks wear before I get a small chip on one nail. I change the polish after a week because I like to paint them and try different combinations of holo. Also because I start picking at the chip and that’s not good for the nail.

Thanks for the tips!! I'm a chemist so I wear gloves for a large portion of my day at work and wash my hands a lot. Unfortunately this causes my polish to pop off like a peely even when using the long lasting base coat. I think some of these tips might help and my nails are getting long enough to wrap the tips a bit better :)

Mine pop off almost entirely after a couple of days even though I don't wear gloves or wash my hands many times a day...maybe some nails just don't work well with the base coat...such a shame :(

These tips work! I’m so relieved that Christine decided to post these videos. I was struggling to get the polish to stay on longer than 1-2 days. My coats were too thick and they would peel off. This week I followed all of the steps from her last video, with a base coat instead of a peely coat. My mani is on Day 5, no chipping!! I also made her jojoba oil/ vitamin e mix and I’ve been using it 4x a day. My nails are stronger and I’ve been acrylic free for 2 months now. Thank you! ☺️

Your long-lasting base coat is the best base I have ever used. I do everything you shouldn’t do with nails-open, pry, scrape, etc.-and my polish lasts so much longer than with other bases. The days of chipping my mani before I even go to bed are over!

I find that applying nail/cuticle oil throughout the week also helps; aside from hydrating your nails, it also hydrates the nail polish and makes it less prone to chipping. When your nails bend, your nail polish need to bend, too, or else you get crease lines! It's made my nails go from lasting a couple days to lasting a week, minimum.

I am on Day 6 of holo taco, from the holo day collection. The deep blue color. I Never get 6 going on 7 days with no chips from regular nail polish, and glitter as well! I typically change my polish 2-3 times a week! Color me impressed!

I've been doing these things a while and they do work. I'll add that using cuticle oil daily also helps. It keeps the polish looking fresh and keeps it flexible so it doesn't chip as much. I can keep my polish on until the regrowth annoys me (except with Zoya for some reason.) Acetone dehydrtaes really well. Gellish PH prep also works. Great video

I have oily nails and I get a few more days wear time if I scrub with dish soap and then dehydrate before applying. Buffing makes my nails peel so I try to avoid. I think I got play rose to stay 6 days which is a lot for me.

Came back to this after three years to give myself a refresher, and I realised that the most important tip for long-lasting nails is missing: Use a high-quality nail polish! (Like Holo Taco!) Cheaper polish may be easier to get hold of, but with really good brands you honestly get what you pay for. My Holo Taco polishes last several times longer than the stuff I can pick up at the supermarket, every time!

Ah that sucks! I used to really struggle too. I've found that resting the brush against the inside rim of the nail polish bottle and letting the excess polish drip off really helps, especially with the glitter coats. It's kind of like sieving flour, you want most of the liquid to drain, leaving behind just enough polish and all the glitter. 💿❤

Maybe you need to take other brushes? I got some brushes from nail art shop and this helps a lot. The brushes included at nail polish bottles are difficult. Put it on another brush and it is done in three strokes.

But now I got the long lasting base and the black with a holo taco and I cant believe how easy it is to keep the polish looking good! Im so happy because I hated getting my nail polish chipped. If you are like me and have an issue with polish not wanting to stick (even long-lasting base coats peel off like a peely base about 3 days in) then I 100% support getting a nail dehydrator. I got an OPI one but I am sure there are others. I think it is because my nails are super thick and have a tight curve on top of being naturally oily that is my issue. Just something to put out there because it changed my life ^-^

Hoping someone can help! So, I just started painting my nails about 8 months ago thanks to Cristine and this community. I keep getting better but I still can't get my polish to stay on longer than a day or so. I thought maybe it was because I use cheap polish. Today, I got my very first Holo Taco order and I followed all the tips and steps (clean nails, thin coats, base coat. wrap the tip, glossy taco etc etc) and tonight, two of my nails have peeled off. I'm not using a purely base but this always happens to me. My polish just flies off somewhere and I look down to see naked nails. What can I do to make it stop? I had such a pretty mani with Blue Freezie and Solar Unicorn skin and losing it already. Thanks for your help!
