For example, keeping multiple saves, rotating, and so on? Why and how do you do this? Perhaps you can show me an example?

No prob! Keeping multiple saves is like creating your own autosaves. It's just an extra safety net and I tend to do a manual save at home before placing new artifacts. The new version of the game does auto-save, but I like to play it safe just in case I'm not ready to do certain events.

I was in my late teens, early twenties when this game came out in the US, I bought it instantly because Secret of Mana was probably my favorite game on the SNES... and I couldn't figure anything out and gave up on it after a couple of days. Never tried it again lol.

TIP: Synch Effects can be great. When you get a new pet, check its Synch effect. It's triggered by standing close during battle (lightning effect that goes from your health bar to theirs. My tip would be : Get thee a Polterbox! Go to the tower of Leires boss room after the boss fight and get the proper egg. Its ability to force item drops AND rarer items cannot be lauded enough. Ah, the small community of fans of LoM. I would like to see a video on all the more recent discoveries about tempering. Tempering is nuts and incredible at the same time.

Just to add to this, you can also get a Magicali (Poltergeist) Egg earlier at the Junkyard where the boss fight for the Infernal Doll is. Keep trying to catch Magicali eggs until you get a Polter Box :)

@13:12 YES, Bed of Thornes does increase your defense, but it also cuts off your natural HP regen... so you might want to look out for that... -a tip from the greatest weapon master of LOM

That's a lot of information I didn't know as a kid! Who knew that there were tons of combos to do in combat and you could get locked out of questlines because you fail to properly plan setting the map up! I was always so surprised when a quest popped up in a new playthrough which didn't appear in our previous playthrough!

Tip: days pass by going from land to land, or a big quest. so early growing so you can raise your polterbox and such easily, you can harvest a bunch of seeds from the first world (wheel), plant them and just go back and forth on the map until you got like 14 to 30 spirit changes on the worlds or walked over the worlds that many times, enter home and your plants are grown. repeat for early fruits.

I've played this game since I was a kid and I just found out that you can perfect parry attack using a ST and it will instant cast. I've done it a couple of times after seeing it for the first time about 30 minutes ago. I've looked it up meticulously online since and can't find anyone talking about it save some 11 year old Gamefaqs board posts that were dismissed. I pulled it off with the knive's "Aerial Reaver" ST a couple times. I couldn't get it to work with others but I'm thinking it's some insane frame input to pull this off and I just goofed with other STs

Finally in 20 something ish amount of years ..nobody evee made or talked about legend of manas. Battle secrets and tips to rock all strategies and serve about the system is all about knowing the techniques of every trike and IQ and timing. I mastered the battle with every weapon. I was a GoatBEAST at player vs player!

I like how you cover so many games. Very helpful. That said, I personally (not speaking for others at all) would like a little more explanation or examples. Like how to get the difficulty characters or more strongly recommended concoctions for seeds and smithing. Perhaps recommended placement on the map... I know im kinda nit-picking but thats just my 2 cents. This was still a good video. Really liked the mass effect video as well. Oh! And a recommendation on starting weapon. I remember 1 was more useful at the beginning than the others but can't remember which. This is becoming a short story, sorry for that. Have a good one and keep doing what you do, its appreciated.

Heres a tip: Heavy attack delay cancelling When you do a normal heavy attack (no inputs), you get stopped for a full second before you can do anything. You can however bypass this by immediately hitting one of your ST skills after pressing the heavy attack button. This will cancel your heavy attack wait and you can immediately normal or heavy attack again. Heres the downsides, you MUST hit your heavy attack before pressing an ST button. Missing will immediately cast your ST (if your bar is full). If your ST bar is not full then youll only hear the bloop sound that you cant cast ST. The delay is around 0.25 seconds after doing a heavy attack, so I usually go Square -> R1 -> Square -> R1 if I want to spam normal heavy attacks. This works best with gloves and flails because of how fast their heavy attack animations come out. This will also allow you to combo your heavy attacks (though I dont think it will count as candy combos). I.e. for gloves X, X, X, X, X, Square->R1, X, X, X, X, X... loop.

Love seeing videos like this pop up now that LoM got a remake :) Thanks for the tips, I played this game as a kid and just loved how cryptic everything felt. Not knowing it if I was doing something right but somehow still ended up with good enough gear to get through the game. Getting back into LoM I finally started using other weapons besides the spear and 2H Sword lol I love knives now and grapple is such a fun ability, I used it the entire time!

Hello! The Legend of Mana is my favorite childhood game, now after the remake, I went through it twice, completed all the quests, got all the trophies and achievements. However, the question that tormented me since childhood remained! At the end of the game, the credits show scenes that I did not see in the game. "Mis Yuka breaks a crab on the ship" "Pearl on the road runs away from the Bionics" "At the house, a pelican brings a cactus and takes Bud away" "men in Palpot on the beach in turbans" "In the Domina Nunzak performs tricks for a troupe of artists" "In Lumin, Roger comes running, when the Dubbers watch the artists" "In the underworld near the sage, a lot of shadows appear and laugh" "In Miss Fortune's Domina, after the prediction, Rachel's mother reacts" Where does it all come from!!??

I’m new to the game aswell but what I learned so far from these type of videos is that there are many different lines of quests and some can only be activated by doing certain things (early on or at various points in the Game) and if these aren’t done then certain quest lines won’t be activated. So it could have been showing these events that you didn’t experience, almost like the Game showing you glimpse of a alternate reality of such events.

6:50 standard heavy attacks. I recently discovered a new way to escape that animation lock - use the standard heavy attack then right after press down+forward heavy attack and your character will perform an uppercut out of the animation lock of your standard heavy attack. Im assuming forward, forward works too, maybe even back forward, not sure havent tried yet, this is new to me.Also the jump ability when pressed after a standard power attack will make your character uppercut, not sure why but the game does this.

Can confirm any command heavy (plunge attack) will animation cancel your heavy attack. With good timing your combo can be all heavys if you so chose and just knock around your opponents.

Well I can say my smithing guide won't be an hour, more like...35ish minutes. Don't know if I'll do a Monster Guide. As for Spirits, it's based on your artifact placement. You can tell from the map when you hover the pointer over a location, Mana levels on the lower-left will tell you which spirits are there.

The only way to get Toadstoolsheds is by mixing Small, Large, OR Long seeds with Spiny Seeds!! It's a 8/256 chance, but as long as the elements are high in your house/the orchard (two different locations), you should be able to get at least one every time! Save your Spiny Seeds!! Also don't use 2 Spiny seeds at the same time, it's a waste!

I dont if it works on the remaking version. But you can non-stop combo hit your enemy. You can press the basic attack twice and then give a little bit of time between pressing the next basic attack twice. I just enjoyed doing this and fill the super move fast and can end match way faster

I used to print those long ass guide from gamefaqs specifically for crafting (including the robots/instruments). Best way to craft is just using cheats so you can have ALL kinds of material at 99 pieces. Not to mention about the delay (your MC hitting those hammer) is kinda frustating

something I'd say about this game that I don't see anywhere being discussed is that due to the team that developed it, Legend of Mana is far more of a SaGa game than it is a Mana game, so understanding that can help understand the logic of the game faster

I love this game, but I'm not prepared to grind chaos crystals _again._ I've spent hours in that tiny room murdering hundreds of polterboxes right in front of my own pet polterbox just for their precious loot. One thing I didn't know was that your equipped weapon determines your stat gains when you level up. I used a staff for most of a playthrough and had to switch to nunchucks for the last 30 levels to try and fill in my low stats. Which was its own fun, every weapon type is good.

Ring Ring Land is the quickest (and maybe only) way to get some of the best items for forging gear. I got Gaus's Tears a few times from doing the 3 loop circuit. It's one of the best primary materials. RRL is a slot machine minigame. I'm terrible at those. You can play it by just holding the A button down though, you don't have to tap. I wrapped a rubber band around the A button to play it for me. ngl it performs about as well as I do.

Interesting, I didn't know Ring Ring Land gave materials! I think I'd rather fight enemies for materials though. Gaia's Tears are high tier drops from Chimera Beasts too, in the Underworld or Lucemia.

Not entirely true, every material in the game is obtainable from enemy drops (except *maybe* Swifte Rock, since it wasn't obtainable outside RRL in the original game and as far as I'm aware none of the monsters had their loot tables changed kn the remaster). *However!* There are caveats to a monster's drop rates, namely that they're tied to the monster's level (as mentioned in the video). Each monster has 8 "levels" of items determining their rarity and drop rate. Levels 1 and 2 are just the monster's XP and Lucre (or occasionally Candy, TOMATO MAN >:|). Levels 3 and 4 vary widely but are often meat/seeds/lesser materials. Levels 5-8 are where it gets tricky. These items will only be added to a monster's loot pool if the monster's level is high enough (16 for Level 5, 32 for Level 6, 48 for Level 7, and 64 for Level 8). Polter Box pets and "Lucky Drops" (a small chance of occuring based on your Luck stat; it has the same effect as the Polter Box's Synchro effect and, sadly, they do *not* stack) have the effect of ignoring the Level 1-2 drops, meaning you can get Level 5-6 drops regardless of the monster's level, Level 7 drops require a level 16+ monster, and Level 8 drops require a level 32+ monster. Monster levels are determined by three things: how far the level is from Home, how many artifacts were placed before that level's artifact, and the mana values of the level. It's virtually impossible to get a monster's level high enough to get Level 7-8 drops without going into NG+ and activating Nightmare/No Future difficulty, but you can alleviate that with a Polter Box... Mostly. The top-tier materials like Dragon Scales, Adamantine, and Gaia's/Gaeus' Tears are the Level 8 drops from monsters that are inherently lower level than other monsters in the area, and using a Polter Box isn't enough since there's no way to get them to level 32 in normal difficulty.

there seems to be an error, if you did nicollos quest then daena won't be available in the inn anymore to do her quest and get the forbidden ring rendering her quest missable. Edit: from the wiki: Prerequisites Note: Niccolo's Business Unusual (#1) and Heaven's Gate (#17) should NOT be completed. Edit 2: the Lil cactus entries that are presumed missable are actually not, when starting a new game + the game automatically writes them in (remaster version at least)

Better way to earn lucre is to farm luon for windcaps from spiny cones and clear feathers from stinger bugs. Temper 4 clear feathers into a windcap and it sells for 26643 lucre. It is *very* fast if you have a polterbox and can be done almost from the start of the game (acquiring materials is doable, you just need to get the blacksmith).

Rather than using meats or fruits when capturing monsters just keep staying on their back until a message bubble with "..." appears to capture the monster

I've got some tips: Keep an instrument on you for boss fights. You have i-frames for the duration of the spell animation. You can get around annoying wide-area boss attacks with them. Stealing this from Duelle's read-from-the-manual 'tutorial' on Luon Highway - don't button-mash with quick attacks. There's a sort of 'exhaustion' effect if you try to get, say, four swings out of the hammer, as if you'd used the heavy attack. Weapons have a fairly predictable combo length - from three to six hits - based on their size. Figure out how many attacks a weapon has and work out a rhythm. Work abilities into your combos, even if you don't care about the free candy. Even the basic abilities are useful, and most movement abilities can be turned into a melee strike. The Jumps can be cancelled into a plunging attack, Backroll turns into a flipkick, and so on.

Bed of Thorns card sure boost defense from equipment a lot, but it will disabled your health regeneration as a cost... The demerit can be nullified with adding Spring card or Heaven's Scale, I kinda forgot which one... Edit: I really like your video, please do make smithy guides video, I'm sure it would be fun. Crafting in Legend of Mana is very deep, it was out of the current time when it was released at ps1

Heaven's Scale is the one that will add regeneration back despite Bed of Thorns.

They do a MASSIVE variety of effects: from increasing (or decreasing) stats, to adding additional effects to your master moves (plunge attacks in the original). They can also imbue certain passive effects like EXP share and HP regen. Proper placement and removal of these mystic powers without removing the positive stat changes they provide is key to creating the ultimate weapon. Primary materials have their own affinity towards elemental spirits, and react differently when imbued with an elemental coin. Secondary materials also has an effect. Both can imbue and remove mystic cards, but some does not imbue any at all, but they also serve a purpose. Following a guide, I managed to forge a menos bronze 2h sword, with a total offensive power of 700, imbued with all elements, as well as being able to inflict poison. I made it for No Future Mode. Smithing in this game is way ahead of its time, for better or worse. I would highly suggest you look at the links the uploader put in the description for more details.

I can't remember exactly which directions exactly, but I do know it's closer to the Waterfall than it is to town. Skip Dungeon to waterfall, then go to dungeon from there. It's in an upper middle section of one of the larger caves. The Load Zone/Doorway to get into the room is really easy to miss, I actually only _accidentally_ ended up in there the first time I did it.

Since I love magic, I tried experimenting on different materials and coins to come up with strong magic in the format of Sphere Fire/Fan Fire/Control Fire. But sometimes, that experimenting comes with a price of Lucre and materials. Kinda tedious. Any tips?

Most guides mention that the Orchard can only take two seeds of a time but no guide tells me what happens if I give Trent more than one pair of seeds. Is the first pair deleted or are the seeds queued? Is there any notification if the produce is ready or do I constantly have to go back and check? How does time pass in Legend of Mana?

Trent will tell you when he hits max capacity on seeds, then when the produce grows, you pick it, take it to the box, get more seeds from Trent, repeat as you see fit. Most produce takes around a week to grow, and time can be passed on the world map by moving to other locations and back again. Days passing are indicated by the mana spirit symbol the upper corner of your map.

Yes, some quests can be failed if they require a companion and you go to into your house mid-quest.

The FF save thing just changed your rabite into a Chocobo right? Either way, Aerial Eggs still give Chocobos. They'll show up in Norn Peaks and Luon Highway.

@@cloudshadow Having the FF8 save file on PS1 changes the initial pet from a Rabbite to a Chocobo. It is always accessible by getting the egg yourself.

No, sadly. You're basically never able to change the NPC, even if P2 is just from another save file.

I am amazed how much they could have improved this game, for the market price they were asking the time it was released.. Why dont expand monster corral to 10? 25? Why not show levels of abilities? Why not make smithing more clear? And that is just the basic. All of that would not change nothing in the gameplay, need nothing to almost nothing work.. and would make it 100% better. I finish this game every couple of years.. and this remaster was bad. It really was. The game is beatiful, but they didnt nothing to improve it - 20 years later.

I disagree the female always worked better in my game. Might have been a glitch but no matter the weapon exct. She did more damage every time with everything. You still get the Jade Egg from Rachael no matter what.

Yes forbidden ring shared exp when you equip them.... You can craft forbidden ring in the blacksmith... But that will be something advanced...

It could be the dash ability you're seeing (with a heavy attack). You can also cheese the speed in combat by holding forward and spamming up, down, up, down, etc.
