Hi love the video, My animation company has been running fro 12 months now and were doing ok but my main problem I'm struggling with is consistent lead flow and work how did you start with getting clients in the door?
@StartAStudio Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Wow this video feels old now.. 😅. When I first took the leap, quit the day job at a production company and started the studio from a spare room at home. I was pitching (low budgets) for each and any video project I could find online. (any that were within my own skill set) . Lots of pitches. Then between that, I was constantly working on improving the website. I attended some local business networking events (not my favourite thing to do at all) which led to some contacts with Web Design companies and other startups. This eventually led to the web design companies connecting me with clients who needed videos for their new site launches or related marketing activities. Plus one or two of the startups also commissioned some short promos. I slowly won some of the online pitches, got some repeat business, and steadily upped the studio rate over the early months till I was actually making money and not eating into savings / credit card bills. I tried to make each video at a quality worthy of showcase on the studio website, even if it meant putting more time in than the project budgets really allowed. Plus toward the end of the first year I did run some low-cost advertising using Google Ads at the time (once the site was looking smart enough to highlight expertise and any specialisms/niche). This lead to some good contacts and some enquiries from multinational organisations. Which are great as that means an increased chance of repeat business (if not always the most exiting work). Some of which we're still a key supplier for years later.

I want to become an animator but my mom wants me to become a business man now I'm gonna have to study business and make my dreams come true after I become sucessful 😊
@StartAStudio4 жыл бұрын
Hey.. don't worry, I'm sure studying business will still be very worthwhile whichever career path you pursue later on. When I did my A-levels in the UK (back a long time ago now)... I studied Business.. and Computing... no Art related courses, despite having a passion for animation. After this, I spent a full summer working on an art portfolio and managed to pass the interview and portfolio review to get into Art College without the required A-level in Art. Either way.. with today's online education options and ease of access to tools there's every reason to think you can still pursue your dreams. Just keep sketching on a pen and paper and get inspired by great design. Plus with your business knowledge in place you should be well placed for launching a successful animation business of your own one day.

Are you guys hiring 3D remote animators? I'd love to work for you I really like your channel and your business wish you all the best!
@StartAStudio5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, thanks for your comment. We're always happy to receive emails from animators prospecting for future potential work. We actually have a couple of 3D projects due to start in the New Year too. Whilst I love building a local team to work in house at our studio, we do have remote animators too and collaborate via skype, slack and Dropbox. We keep every animator profile/email in a folder and when needed, one our of the team (often me) will skim through to see if any recent contacts might be able to work with us on a new project. As we're a small studio with limited human resources we don't manage to reply to every animator enquiry (sorry). We sometimes get 10 to 20 a day. But everyone that's potentially a good fit is kept on file. Find our preferred email address via www.stormystudio.com/contact Please send a 1 page CV, or paragraph about your experience, list your skill levels with After Effects and a 3D Package. Plus a link to a showreel/examples etc.

@@StartAStudio First and foremost, Thank you very much for your consideration. I apologize for the delay. I appreciate the time you spent speaking with me about the wonderful opportunities available within your organization. It was a pleasure e-meeting with you about Art / CG Animation through your team! My sincere apologies for the slow reply; I’d hoped to get back to you sooner. I've been constantly working on an animation assignment plus it seems that I can't seem to see notifications on my phone for some reason. Sounds awesome! I like the way you guys are operating. Sure will do I am eager to bring my passion for upcoming projects then! I would love to work on some of these projects with your team soon! I will be applying through the website. Can you tell me some best animation software for animation movie
@StartAStudio4 жыл бұрын
Hi Krishna... there are a wide variety of animation software choices, with many 3rd party extensions and some software that focus on a particular area If looking for 3D animation software, some of the industry-leading choices for 3D animation are Maya and 3DS Max for modelling, rigging and character animation. Then Houdini for stunning visual FX. Also, the ever-impressive free 3D software Blender has been used to produce full animated features. All 3D packages will include a render engine or 2, but there are also 3rd party render engines that can increase the quality of the image or the speed of rendering, which allows you to push the image quality further in your given time and budget. i.e. Octame, Redshift, Vray, Arnold etc.. Then things like Mudbox for more organic 3D sculpting. Real flow for water simulation. Plus many other particle FX options... i.e. ones that simulate fire and smoke. For more traditional 2D animation, software like Toon Boom and TV Paint would be worth looking into. Each with their own advantages. Plus for 3D motion graphics work, Cinema 4D stands out. With Adobe After Effects used widely for 2D motion graphics (and 3D, VFX etc with 3rd party plugins) and animation compositing. There's also Nuke which is popular in the higher end compositing and FX market. Also, Davinci Resolve is the leading choice for film colour grading... but also has a well-rouneed video editor and moton graphic capabilities. These are just the ones that spring to mind whilst writing, no doubt I've missed a good few leading options. *Plus all the 3D packages are very capable at doing most 3D work, it's just some are more tailored to particular work.
