Hi Friends! I hope you enjoy the video. I've added links to everything mentioned in the video, but if I've missed anything or you have questions, let me know. I'd also LOVE to know what is on your wish list or maybe something you've received in the past that you loved. I'm sure we would all appreciate the ideas! xx

I've had mine for a few yrs now. I love it. It has 3 light settings on each side and it's definitely bright enough. You can twist it to any position you need and it stays. Also came in handy during Hurricane Ian in 2022 (no power for 11 days!). I was able to crochet at night. I had a flameless candle of course but the neck light allows you to see your stitches better.

Other things not mentioned that can be found for pretty cheap: 1. Stitch markers, you can never have too many and you can get them with cute charms! 2. Darning needles, I'm constantly loosing mine! 3. Cute yarn, make sure its the kind that they crochet with, I personally love blanket yarn bc its soooo soft and fuzzy but worsted weight is almost always a safe option! 4. Makeup bag, it sound odd but I use these for soooo many things, I like to have one for each project and store my hooks, scissors, stitch markers, needles, safety eyes, labels, etc, its so much easier when you can put everything for one project in the same bag so you aren't digging around your craft room looking for the hook you were using! 5. Large storage bags/totes, we definatley need some yarn storage because we all have way too much yarn that we will probably never use! 6. New yarn scissors, nothing is better than a brand new super sharp pair of scissors! 7. Stress balls, there have been some times I have crocheted so much that my hands started cramping, stress balls give your hands a nice break and work out all that tension! 8. Lint rollers, some yarns tend to shed while you are working and some projects look nice when all the lil fuzzies have been removed! 9. Sewing pins, I use these all the time for my amigurumi, they work awesome for holding tiny arms and legs in position while I sew them to the body! 10. Their favorite chocolate or candy, I love chewing gum while I work on projects but any other sweet would work too as long as it leaves your fingers clean!

All of these ideas are great and to that I would also add the gift of your time. Years ago friend had heard me say I needed to organize my stash because I didn’t know how much of what yarns I had. She made a gift certificate for me to choose a date for her to come over and help me. Sadly we ended up moving before I could take her up on that offer but I still think of what a great gift that was.

Great suggestions! My MiL got me a fantastic crochet project bag and my BiL got me a complete set of Clover hooks (!!!!!) which were great gifts, so I highly recommend both! I would also say a nice Yarn winder would be an amazing gift, and a yarn swift, if you have an idea of what sort they would like. My aunt also spontaneously gave me a cheap set of Tunisian crochet hooks, which is also a good idea, especially if your crocheter makes a lot of clothes and wants to try something new. For Darn Good Yarn: I LOVE the company and their products have been great, but I would definitely recommend taking a look at the types of yarns and colors they make before you purchase the yarn subscription. They tend toward very vibrant colors and multi-color yarns, which suits me just fine but wouldn't be useful for someone who likes muted or solid colors. My personal wish list includes that very neck light and some ring stitch counters! One last suggestion: If you don't have money, but do have time, why not scroll through youtube and make a play list of cool tutorials and creators to follow? Sometimes just choosing my next project can be overwhelming and I end up just making another blanket because I can't make a decision on something else. Having a go-to list would be so helpful! Whatever you do, though, please don't buy yarn. I know a lot of people suggest it, but the sad fact is that unless you know for a fact what they like and how much they'll need, you're just going to end up giving them a skein of gorgeous yarn that they can't use because there isn't enough of it and they can't buy more for whatever reason. A gift card or a kit is a fantastic alternative, or if you're feeling brave (and maybe generous), take a trip to a local yarn store with them and let them pick it themselves. (Take notes if you do! You can always get them some of the other yarns they loved later, so long as you're willing to ask the staff how much you should get for a specific project.)

I'm looking at my Glocusent right now! I've had it for over 2 years and it hasn't done a step wrong. And mine is used _every_ night. Totally recommend!! (No, not sponsored, just a fan. 🤓) I love your list - such wonderful ideas!! 😊 If I can add my thoughts re: monthly gift boxes? Please make sure you know the recipient. I was gifted a few months' subscription, but I mainly make plus size wearables so I never got enough of any type/colour yarn to really do anything with them. As they were really exotic yarns, they were outside my budget to buy more to make what was gifted usable. They're safe in moth-proof bags, because who knows where my crocheting journey will take me next, but until then... 🤷‍♀️ On a good note, I found out Im not allergic to yak - that's gotta be a plus regardless! 😂

Also I noticed she mentioned Darn Good Yarns. Their yarn is lovely, but it is made of recycled silk. Some of my crochet friends are more “basic” crocheters., or they make amigurumi. They would really prefer gifts of worsted or bulky weight acrylics or other machine washable yarns that can be used for baby items etc. Those that prefer the fancier yarns , hand dyed, and exotics might love a box like this to make hats, gloves, scarves, and shawls.

I have the exact rechargeable neck light you highlight here. I love it for crochet, has 3 light intensity levels. Once around the neck lights can be positioned using the bendable feature. When crocheting with black I like to ppsition lights closer together to focus beam on work. The light lasts quite awhile on a charge, and I found out my phone charger fits so I don't have to plug in an additional charger. Anytime I need a focused light this is what i reach for. I highly recommend it.

I'm a pretty frugal crocheter I although I like the actual items instead of using something else I tend to find cheaper ways of getting certain items... For example I didn't wanna pay $40 for a boppy or more for a pillow that's listed for crochet or gaming so I got cheap n bought a boppy liner/cover for $12 dollars n figured I'd fill it with other pillow fill I have from stored away pillows not being used. I might also use it as a template since I'm plus size and can sew my own.

I actually prefer a headlamp to the neck light. That way it's focused on what you're looking at always, and you don’t have to move your project to be in the light. I use one that's marketed for rock climbers with different light levels and the ability to have a area light as well as a targeted light. Plus, it's designed to be worn for hours.

Well , that one I’m not sure of 😕… my daughter in law got it for me a few years ago. I’m assuming Etsy but I’ll have to ask her to see if she can remember 💕 I love it

I have placed the neck light in my cart! It will be useful all the time at home. However, when I visit my sister (on the other side of the country), and stay in her guest room, or sit in her living room, I cannot crochet. She has a quirk that she does not have any lamps in her home! And she is a reader! She uses overhead lights only. I hate overheads- they remind me of being at work, and I cannot relax. I was thinking of putting a reading lamp in my suitcase next time, but this may solve the problem. Personally I have a lamp near every chair, and on either side of the beds. I would add that a gift of really special stitch markers, like those found on Etsy, might be appreciated. Also a row counter. And I agree with other commenters regarding a yarn swift and ball winder.

Wonderful! Love the suggestions, thank you and I hope the light works out . That would be a lot easier than the lamp - fingers crossed 🤞🏻 💕

I just sent the crochet pillow to my husband. (Hint, hint). Lol. I’ve never done that before. Knowing him he’ll think to himself: “what do I need this for?” 😆

My husband gave me a 3d printed yarn bowl that holds a skein that has not been caked. Since it is plastic it is a lot more durable with my son and dogs.

The neck lamp is great but another option though a little more expensive would be a daylight lamb

Yes , excellent. Too right 💕 👍🏻 I like the idea of being able to work in the car (as a passenger) when it gets dark so this is where my mind is going with this suggestion. The mobility aspect.

@@PlayHookywithMe I know i have one :) and your list is great :) the only downside i think with the books is that you first have to make sure they don't already have it XD

It seems like a lot of my yarn friends feel guilty about treating themselves to more expensive yarns, so I usually buy them gift certificates to our Local Yarn Shop. Then I’m also supporting a local small business!

Everyone loves their neck light. I detest mine. It is heavy and hard and awkward trying to get the angle the way I like it. I made a towel tube and shoved it in there. It still is uncomfortable. Maybe I should try a cozy yarn for the tube. It still will be heavy though. That’s my story😅

I had the same experience with getting a good angle. I ended up getting a headlamp designed for rock climbing which is comfortable to wear, lets the light always be exactly where you're looking, and has adjustable brightness. I highly recommend it, and I hope it helps!
