Today we'll review 10 bike products, as usual. This time things get a little ugly, but I think these reviews were more than fair. If you are an engineer, product development person, or anyone who works for any of these companies, please no hard feelings on any of the negative things I said. No product is perfect.

Seth, I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I went out and got a new Bmx bike at the age of 28. Cost me about 700 bucks. Didn't cheap out. I went back to the skatepark and rode for 7 hours my first day back after 6 years. I'm completely hooked again. Rode with a buddy who is 47 and we now plan to meet up every week for a ride! Seriously thanks man! Without your channel I would of never gotten interested in going back to riding. Watching you has no doubt changed my life for the better. No more days off sitting at home drinking beer playing Pubg. Skatepark time all the time. Got alot of street rides planned this summer as well. Thanks man!

$5 on my mtb... so yep... Converted to single speed for ground clearance on front (free with angle grinder), decluttered cockpit and no external cables besides brakes (no shifters, because the back is actually broken at the moment, and no grips for a BMX look). Its actually a pretty capable bike, every Walmart bike I've tried, I've always destroyed on the trails within 15 minutes, or hit about a dozen too many trees to call them trailworthy (when they don't have brakes, I use shrubs and trees to slow me before dangerous descents). My Bianchi road bike is much more capable than almost any Walmart MTB... However, this Mongoose with full sus (the only non-pogo stick bike I've seen from a big box store...) is really capable of trails even during the road bike season where I was in shape and pumping out the power the whole ride. That thing shreds! The only downside is worn out slick tires (ok, I like skidding it everywhere on pavement, that and jumping stairs and small ledge drops like a BMX if they had suspension), but other than that, its pretty much golden! I bought it at a police auction for abandoned bicycles (University kids just leave their bikes sometimes, we had lots of foreign students and they couldn't be bothered to sell it for $20, they would just leave it and go back to their country without them when they graduated). So I rode that thing all over campus (no idea why, but right in front of our nice engineering buildings, we had some cool artistic ramps you could get some air safely on, then land and ride down the stairs, hit the brakes and skid it immediately into a straight away for speed and a moment to catch your breath before riding down another series of steps and into an amphitheater with alternating lengths of steps/seats, its like a BMX fan made the place!). I've seriously got my $5 worth I think!

@@bluegill5192 Well, he said dinner, so that's 30 meals. I had 2 pizza pockets for dinner last night, that was only $2.09 or something and 4 minutes of microwaving. You could honestly do it all 90 meals, but it involves: ramen, ramen, more ramen, cereal, bananas, salad eww..., chicken noodle soup or favorite, burritos, Fritos and chilli occasionally, hot dogs, PB&J, oatmeal/pancakes/homemade waffles etc. Its actually not impossible for all 90 meals, but it does require changes to my "Lazy and eat out" plans... And I probably wouldn't always have 3.5 pounds of Bacon at all times in the freezer then(I live alone, but you never know if you get super ridiculously hungry for bacon... I mean, probably not 3.5 pounds hungry, but you never know...). Probably be healthier than most of what I eat though... It would involve.. Vegetables! Ahhh!

"The straps loosen up a bit during long rides" You ever consider you're just dropping water weight? Lol I used to have that problem when I'd go hiking, and I tried different belts and I eventually realized that my pants weren't getting loose, I was just loosing water weight after sweating on a trail for several hours in the Florida sun. That's what happens when you're not skin and bones or solid muscle. I'm pretty skinny now, and never have that issue... just an interesting thing I learned lol Because Cobra Buckles don't get loose lol

Seth, great review. I have had the Exposure Diablo for a few years, and when MTBing use it as my sole light - on the handlebars. Never had it fall off, even in some rather painful crashes. The little plastic clamp with red rubber clips looks flimsy, but in practice I have found it hangs on fine. The only issue is on the brightest setting I am lucky to get much over an hour, but judicious dimming to lower setting (which you can do by tapping the body of the light - seriously!) can stretch it out to just under two hours.

Great video Seth! Always love your product reviews. I have both of the Exposure lights, they are incredibly bright, super high quality, and near indestructible. The floodlight has different modes that you can program to suit how long you want to ride, but I leave it on program 1, which uses a gyroscope and accelorometer to adjust the brightness automatically. As for the mounts, I agree that what is supplied with the helmet light is very inadequate. I use the gopro style mount instead, with my helmet's built-in mount, with a safety lanyard in case of a crash. This works well for me. As for the floodlight bar mount, I have had no issues with it despite several crashes. But I don't shred as hard as Alex and yourself. If you do a lot of night riding as I do, in my opinion these lights are worth the expense.

Absolutely love my exposure lights, I have tried many alternatives and they simply arn’t upto the mark. Living in the UK if I want to ride post work for roughly 5 months of the year I’m into night riding so for me they are worth the money for the extra performance reliability and company backup you get. If night riding was a novelty I did a couple of times a year rather than 4-5 times a month there’s no way I’d be spending that much

I have one of the older Topeak ratchets with fixed torque bits instead of the adjustable and really like it. The nice thing about the bits is they are just standard 1/4" hex bits, so you can easily replace them or add additional bits that are not provided in the kit. I am pretty sure the ratchet is actually made for Topeak by VIM Tools. They have the exact same head on several of their HBR series ratchets.

Have you tried the Magicshine MONTEER 6500? It looks great.

I have a Magicshine light and it's not bad but the handlebar mount is a joke. The rubber O-ring used to hold it on broke within three months.

So would you recommend the $725 lights? I didn’t catch the part if you recommend them or not. I have no time during the day to ride so I ride a lot at night. I have had a $240 light for about a year and a half and I’m looking to upgrade. Should I buy the light in your video?

I have one of the BrightEyes lights. The light I have comes with a diffuser that does a decent job of fixing the problems that you mentioned with the beam.

World you consider making a video on bicycle seats?
@jakegarrett8109
@jakegarrett8109 5 жыл бұрын
I think it varies way too much, my favorite is a bare carbon fiber seat on my road bike (nicknamed the "@$$ hatchet", it also is great for opening letters and packages...). Looks menacing (do be careful when mounting dismounting, I wasn't joking about using it to open letters...), and its super light weight, even the rails are carbon fiber. I find it comfortable enough with regular padded cycling shorts. My dad hopped on my MTB and said "how do you ride that ball buster?!?" and I was like "huh? my roadbike?", nope, he was talking about my comfy MTB saddle... See, I find that one super comfy in any clothes, but apparently to him it was painful (its padded, its actually way nicer than any trash you'll find at Walmart, I find those super thick padded ones they sell under the "BELL" brand to be terrible! Some people like them...). My cousin has a massive one on his fat bike (its actually pretty good, big springs under the saddle), and one of mine had like 3 inches of hard padding and massive springs (way bigger round than my forks), and it was great for a motorized bike I'd take off-road and ramp the terraces in the field at about 30 mph all day on a walmart hard tail. So it really varies what you're doing (that seat on my motorized bike would kill and skuff up your legs if you were pedaling for a while, but I had an engine on the bike, so... No peddling needed!) What I like, depends on the use case (am I on the drops? Am I even pedaling? Is it off-road rippage? Is it casual commuting or full out racing? What am I wearing?), it even goes down to the temperature and rain! (carbon wipes off and dry, whammo! the thick ones may also become rock solid in below freezing temps...). Its all personal preference, and my skinny little butt probably isn't the same as everyone elses (also carbon fiber is slippery like ice on blue jeans, but grips licra shorts, I can barely stay on my road bike with normal pants...)
