Great list! I forgot about libraries, duh! I'm hoping to road trip to Arizona this winter and will be plotting each day so I'll be able to work my remote job. I was thinking I'd have to be at coffee shops each day. A library would be so much easier!

Hubby and I travel/Live in our Dodge Grand Caravan with a Chihuahua. Quartzsite, AZ has the only Library that allows pets. When the temps are super hot the Library, Senior Center and Community Center allows pets. It's amazing. I have a pet sling so I can basically take our furbaby anywhere. I like your list it's very helpful.

Good video. My favorite places are museums and art galleries, my second favorite is a good thrift shop. I can spend a couple of hours just looking at stuff at my Goodwill or Salvation Army. I find some true treasures. And when I’m traveling I love to check out their thrift shops elsewhere.

A great list! I wish there were a comprehensive list of where to find free places to plug in and charge a solar battery; I’m thinking along the lines of a city or county park. The obvious thing is to buy the solar panels to do that, but I’m not there yet. Our Ecoflow weighs about 45 pounds, so carrying it into a library or Starbucks seems daunting. I wonder if, for example, libraries will allow you to bring it inside in a rolling bag? Hmmm…
@HeathersHikesAndAdVANtures3 ай бұрын
Yes, I know what you mean! I bet you anything libraries wouldn't mind, but it would be soooo handy of there was an app that located public outlets near you. I sure wish I was more techy lol!
@sherricarpenter33 ай бұрын
@kirstenstrobel4387 Yes. Libraries allow you to bring in your power station and charge it up for free. I had 2 of the older style power stations that took forever to charge and were very heavy in the beginning. I bought a collapsible hand truck on Amazon that could handle the weight of the 2 and would stack them on top of each other and bungee cord them to my hand truck and drag them into the library and spend 4 hours charging them up. Fortunately they both broke at the same time so I had to upgrade. I would recommend the newer style 1 hour quick charge power stations. I bought a 16 pound ecoflow river pro bc i never owned a ecoflow before. There's some things I like about it and some things I don't. I want to get the jackery 1000 new 2 quick charge next when I can afford it. What I like about the ecoflow is it only weighs 16 lbs and is smaller and lighter than my previous power stations but with the same power capacity. I like that it actually has a power number display instead of a percentage display like my bluetti had. I like that it actually charges up in a hour and it was only around $500. Bc my last 2 power stations which were suppose to last 10 years only lasted about a year and 3 months. So right after the one year warranty expired they both suddenly broke. I learned not to spend a lot of money on a power station. Only expect to get one years worth out of it. The 10 year life expectancy of the unit is a lie What I don't like about my new ecoflow is it suddenly randomly turns itself off when stuff is plugged into it and running. It happens about every 4 hours. I really like the one hour quick charge capabilities. I wasted hours charging up my older power stations at the library. There is a free app called outlet finder that you can download that will show you electrical outlets in your area if anyone has uploaded any. I upload outlets I find whenever I find one and usually their at parks. Bc parks open earlier than a library does so you can have your power station all charged up for the day before the library even opens. Or charge it twice if your staying at the park for the day. I google parks near me as i travel and read the reviews to see if anyone mentions free electrical outlets in their review and then drive over and check it out for myself. Sometimes libraries have outdoor seating areas with electrical outlets outside. I got rid of my hand truck when my older power stations broke bc I live in a minivan and the hand truck took up to much space and I only used it to haul the power stations into the library. I went to Walmart and in their sporting goods section they had cheap large gym bags that open on top that you can carry over your shoulder for around $20 that my ecoflow would fit in. So it looks way better carrying in a bag on your shoulder than a huge hand truck with power stations stacked on top of each other...lol...hope this helps.

@@sherricarpenter3 Sherri, yes, this is amazing information! We have an older Ecoflow Delta. I had thought of the handcart for lugging it around, but seems kind of tacky to bring it into a public space. Although I do have a wheeled sewing machine case, I wondered if it would get looked at, thinking is she concealing something or taking something out of the library?? For several reasons, the public parks would work well for us, weather permitting. Thank you especially for the tip on the app. I’m going to look for it right now!
@sherricarpenter33 ай бұрын
@kirstenstrobel4387 Awesome! I know what you mean about the hand truck looking tacky. I felt that way at first too like people would be judging me. But then my need for my power stations to be charged up so I could run my lights and fans and cook food with it and charge up my cell phone overcame my concern of what other people thought about me. My comfort level became more important and I wasn't doing anything illegal by using libraries I paid taxes to build and support all my life. It was a chore though getting the handtruck out and setting that up and then pulling out the heavy power stations and stacking them on top of each other and then bungeeing it all down and then hauling all 90 lbs into the library. This is way too much work. But this was before quick charge was invented. Quick charge is the way to go. It's a game changer. Not an expensive one bc they don't last 10 years like all the manufactures claim. That's a lie. Be happy if you get a year out of one. Like a 1,000 watt model for a couple hundred bucks is worth it to not sit in a library or at a electrical outlet all day to power up it up. I bought a bluetti 220 watt solar panel which was very nice but I never got the 220 watts out of it even on a sunny day. So I upgraded to the bluetti 350. Which I like a lot better but it's heavy. Like 35 pounds or more. I throw it on top of my minivan roof so no one can see it...I never set it up on the ground just so I'm sort of stealthy. And it pulls in 220 watts lying flat on my minivan roof which I'm happy with. I would probably get more wattage of I angled it but I don't want it on the ground I want it on my van roof. And then when my power station is charged I take it off the roof and put it in the back of my minivan. I think the bluetti 350 is very good. But expensive and sort of heavy to lift on a van roof. I wouldn't go heavier than the 350 bc it is a job hoisting it up there by yourself. Good luck to you. Take care and safe travels. We are all learning from each other trying to make other people's lives easier living vanlife.
@kirstenstrobel43873 ай бұрын
@@sherricarpenter3 You are definitely on top of things! Love your ingenuity! We have a cargo trailer conversion so I don’t have to hoist anything on a roof. And my doc has warned it’s not a good idea as I had a TIA mini stroke about a year ago and shouldn’t be lifting any real weight. While I like the idea of small power stations, I want to be able to power a small (room) air conditioner if not able to hook up to shore power. It’s one big Tetris puzzle, that’s for sure! Thanks again for all your amazing help!
